Missouri Scholarships

"Here are the first 20 scholarships where one of the requirements is based on where you live."

Some states or counties have hundreds of scholarships for which you may qualify.

WWU - Scholar-Athlete Award

Automatically awarded to students who demonstrate athletic talent and skill, participate in a sport and have achieved an ACT of 27 or SAT of 1210. The awards are determined by the athletic department, and to be eligible you must be awarded an athletic scholarship.

WWU Merit Scholar

ACT of 30 or SAT of 1330 and a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5. No interview required. Successful completion of the LEAD program and a WWU minimum GPA of 3.2 are required for renewal. Scholarship amount is based on tuition figure set for Fall 2013 and does not increase annually. LEAD is included in total scholarship amount.

WWU - Honors Scholar

ACT of 26 or SAT of 1170 and a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5. Must agree to participate in the Honors Program. Successful completion of the LEAD program, Honors Program, and a WWU minimum GPA of 3.2 are required for renewal.

WWU - Trustee Scholar

ACT of 28-29 or SAT of 1250 and a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.2. Successful completion of the LEAD program and a WWU minimum GPA of 3.2 are required for renewal.

WWU - Presidential Scholar

ACT of 26-27 or SAT of 1170 and a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.2. Successful completion of the LEAD program, and a WWU minimum GPA of 3.2 are required for renewal.

Missouri Boys/Girls State Participant Award

Basis for Award: 1. Applicant must have served as a participant of Missouri Boys/Girls State. 2. Applicant must be accepted to the University with a minimum ACT score of 23 or SAT of 1050 (Critical Reading and Math only). 3. Full-time enrollment is required. 4. Applicant must be an incoming freshman. Award Value: 1. Award value is $1,000 for a residential student and $500 for a commuter student. 2. There will only be five awards available each academic year (they are distributed on a first come first serve basis). Term of the Award: One academic year (this award is not renewable). Application Procedures: 1. Apply for admission and be accepted for enrollment to William Woods University. 2. Provide official documentation of participation in the Missouri Boys/Girls State program to the Office of Admissions.

Missouri Boys/Girls State Leadership Award

Basis for Award: 1. Applicant must have served as a Governor or Governess of Missouri Boys/Girls State. 2. Applicant must be accepted to the University with a minimum ACT score of 23 or SAT of 1050 (Critical Reading and Math only) 3. Full-time enrollment is required. 4. Applicant must be an incoming freshman. Award Value: 1. Award value is $2,000 for a residential student and $1,000 for a commuter student. 2. There will only be one or two awards available each academic year (they are distributed on a first come first serve basis). Term of the Award: One academic year (this award is not renewable). Application Procedures: 1. Apply for admission and be accepted for enrollment to William Woods University. 2. Provide official documentation of participation in the Missouri Boys/Girls State program to the Office of Admissions.

Callaway County Alumni Association Scholarship

This scholarship amount varies from year to year. In this order, consideration will be given to applicants who are the son or daughter of a William Woods alumnus who lives in Callaway County, a relative of any William Woods alumnus, or a Callaway County resident of at least two years. This scholarship is not renewable, but the recipient may reapply annually. Eligibility Requirements:  Entering freshmen must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5  Transfer students must have a minimum transfer GPA of 2.0  Returning William Woods students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0  Full-time enrollment is required Application Procedures:  Apply and be accepted to William Woods University  Submit application  Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)  Write a paragraph on the following: How do you know the William Woods alumni and what does his/her relationship mean to you?

WWU - Disciples of Christ Grant

Basis for Award: 1. Children of ordained Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) ministers with good standing in the church. Ministers must be recognized as ordained ministers by the Disciples of Christ organization. 2. Full-time enrollment is required. Award Value: Half tuition (including the LEAD Award) Term of the Award: One academic year (see renewal requirements below). Application Procedures: 1. Apply for admission and be accepted for enrollment to William Woods University. 2. Submit official documentation from the clergy confirming the above criteria. Conditions for Award Renewal: 1. Maintain a strong academic standing. 2. Maintain a full-time academic course load.

Fulton College Board of Associates Scholarship

Scholarships in the amount of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,500 are available to Callaway County residents who have demonstrated academic excellence. Both awards are renewable for a maximum of four years as long as the recipient maintains a full-time course load and continues to make satisfactory academic progress. A student may receive only one of these scholarships. Eligibility Requirements:  Apply and be accepted to William Woods University  Demonstrate academic excellence  Legal resident of Callaway County  Exhibit involvement in extra-curricular activities Application Procedures:  Write a paragraph on the following: What is the one thing I have learned about myself in high school?  Submit application

Lowry Aid Fund Scholarship

This scholarship was made possible by a gracious gift of money for the three-fold purpose of helping worthy young men and women of Missouri to secure a Christian education, helping William Woods University attract students of the highest possible ability and character, and helping the First Christian Church of Fulton to encourage participation of students in the active life of the church. The fund is administered by William Woods University, however the minister of the First Christian Church of Fulton grants scholarships. It is limited to young men and women who are members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and residents of the state of Missouri. Basis for Award: 1. Members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Students not from Fulton must submit a letter of recommendation from their pastor concerning their membership and participation in the life of the church. 2. Legal residents of the state of Missouri. 3. Full-time enrollment is required. 4. Demonstration of financial need is required. Award Value: Varies Term of the Award: One academic year (see renewal requirements below). Application Procedures: 1. Apply for admission and be accepted for enrollment to William Woods University. 2. Submit official documentation from the pastor confirming membership. 3. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have the results sent to William Woods University. Conditions for Award Renewal: 1. Maintain a strong academic standing. 2. Maintain a full-time academic course load. 3. The recipient agrees to be faithful in his/her attendance at worship, and will participate as fully as possible in the life of the First Christian Church while in Fulton. 4. Where abilities permit, the recipient agrees to offer his/her service in teaching within the children’s division or singing in the church choir.

William S. & Pearl E. Lowe Scholarship

This scholarship provides $1,000 to be disbursed $500 at the beginning of each semester. This scholarship is not renewable. While receiving this scholarship the recipient must maintain a “B” average as well as maintain a full time course load. Eligibility Requirements:  A graduating senior of Mexico High School with a minimum GPA of 2.5  Apply and be accepted to William Woods University  Exhibit involvement in extracurricular activities  Possess a high proficiency of citizenship, moral and ethical conduct Application Procedures:  Write a paragraph on the following: What has it meant to you to grow up in Mexico, Missouri?  Submit three letters of recommendation  Submit application
