The Lincoln-Lane Foundation Scholarship

The Lincoln-Lane Foundation is a private foundation that was founded in 1928 and is dedicated to providing scholarship assistance to residents of Tidewater area of Virginia who have demonstrated academic success and a financial need. Scholarships range from $500 to $3,000 per year and are renewable for three additional years. The Lincoln-Lane Foundation welcomes applications from any high school or college student who is a resident of the Tidewater area of Virginia and who meets the following guidelines: US Citizen or Permanent Resident (A copy of Alien Registration Receipt Card: I-151, I-551 or I-551c) GPA of 3.0 or higher Financial Need Applying to, or currently attending, a 4 year college If you meet these qualifications, we invite you to submit an application. Please include your full name and return address in your letter. Requests are accepted between September 1 and October 15. Jesse T. Bonney Memorial Scholarship

Applicants should demonstrate financial need, be residents of South Hampton Roads, and enroll in an accredited, four-year nonprofit college or university. For female Virginia residents under the age of 26. Preference will be given to students from South Hampton Roads.

Dixon Hughes Goodman Scholarship

Two scholarships of $2,000 each are funded by Dixon Hughes Goodman. Eligibility: Must be enrolled in the Fall semester as a junior, senior or "fifth year" undergraduate, or graduate accounting major with the intent to take the CPA Exam. Must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship Successful completion of 3 credit hours of accounting prior to the Fall semester Current enrollment in an accredited Virginia college or university with the intent to pursue a degree in accounting Enrollment in an accredited Virginia college or university accounting program in the Fall semester

VSCPA Undergraduate Accounting Scholarship

All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship Successful completion of 3 credit hours of accounting prior to the Fall semester Current enrollment in an accredited Virginia college or university with the intent to pursue a degree in accounting Enrollment in an accredited Virginia college or university accounting program in the Fall semester On average, three scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Eligibility: Must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0.

Early Achievement Award

The Early Achievement Award recognizes an individual early in his or her career who has made an outstanding achievement in the art and science of navigation. Eligibility Individuals who have made a significant achievement (35 years or younger in the year of the achievement). Nominations Nominations for this award may be submitted by anyone, but all nominations must be in conformance with ION nomination standards. Recipients need not be members. Those received in correct form by October 15 will be considered.

Superior Achievement Award

The Superior Achievement Award recognizes individuals who are practicing navigators and have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of navigation.

Dr. Samuel M. Burka Award

The Dr. Samuel M. Burka Award is given in memory of Dr. Samuel M. Burka, a dedicated public servant who devoted a long and distinguished career to the research and development of air navigation equipment and reviewing technical material for official publications. He retired from public service in 1958 and died several months later.

Norman P. Hays Award

The Norman P. Hays Award is given in memory of Norman P. Hays, an outstanding navigator, able engineer, and competent manager, who, after a distinguished career as an operational Air Force officer, demonstrated unusual ability as an executive in industry. His managerial career came to an untimely end with his accidental death on July 4, 1965. In the field of art and science navigation.

Colonel Thomas L. Thurlow Award

The Colonel Thomas L. Thurlow Award is given in memory of Colonel Thomas L. Thurlow, U.S. Army Corps, a brilliant engineer, skillful pilot, and able officer who contributed significantly to the development and testing of navigation equipment and the training of navigators and pilots. He met an untimely death while flight testing a new compass in 1944. In the field of art and science navigation.

Tycho Brahe Award

The Tycho Brahe Award is given in memory of Mary Tornich Janislawski, developer of the Mark II Plotter, a charter member of the ION, the first woman to have received an ION Annual Award, a civilian aviation instructor, a teacher at the University of California at Berkley and Stanford and a respected author. This award has been generously endowed by Col. Leonard Sugerman (USAF, Ret.), a past president of the Institute of Navigation (1970

Captain P.V.H. Weems Award

The Captain P.V.H. Weems Award is given in memory of Captain Philip Van Horn Weems, U.S. Navy, a principal co-founder of the ION and an outstanding navigator and inventor whose methods and inventions had a major influence on both the U.S. Air Force and Navy. He is attributed with having patented the first method of performing navigation in space. In the field of art and science navigation.

Johannes Kepler Award

Purpose: To honor an individual during their lifetime for sustained and significant contributions to the development of satellite navigation. Eligibility: A recipient must be a current member of the ION. Membership must have been established at least two years prior to nomination. Companies, Agencies, Educational Institutions, Associations, Groups of Individuals and previous Kepler Award recipients are not eligible for consideration. The Award shall be given, at most, once each year. It shall be given only in those years in which an outstanding contribution is considered worthy of such recognition.
