Some states or counties have hundreds of scholarships for which you may qualify.

Walt Bartram Memorial Education Award

Scholarship applicants must be graduating high school seniors who commit to enroll in or who are full-time college or university students pursuing a degree in manufacturing engineering or a closely related field. Scholarship applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for their high school senior year. This award is available only to students residing within Region 12 (Arizona, California, New Mexico) and may be applied for separately or in combination with other scholarship awards listed on the Foundation web site. Need is a consideration in awarding scholarships only when two or more applicants have equal qualifications. All applicants should be SME members unless they are high school students.

Future Mechanic Grant

Trade School Future is an organization dedicated to helping future mechanics reach their full potential. Our country needs skilled automotive workers and we want to help. Each semester, we’ll be awarding grants of various amounts to students who plan on attending a trade or vocational school with the aim of becoming a mechanic. This scholarship is open to any prospective student in the United States who plans to enroll in a trade or vocational school, 2 or 4 year university, accredited community college or other automotive higher education institution within the next 12 months. The applicant must complete a short essay (500 words or less) detailing why they are pursuing an automotive degree. The applicant must provide a phone number and email address for correspondence about the grant award selection process. The Future Mechanic Grant for the Fall/Winter Semester is a one-time financial gift of $1,000. The grant will be awarded to the applicant who best answers the application criteria, including the short essay. The award funds may be applied to any expenses associated with pursuing an automotive degree or certification. This is a one-time financial gift and does not need to be paid back to Trade School Future.

John D. Isaacs Scholarship

The scholarship is open to high school juniors and seniors in California. To be eligible, a student must first have entered a regional or county science fair with a project related to any of the marine sciences -- geology, biology, meteorology, chemistry, etc. -- or to marine technology. (For information about entering their local science fair, students should talk with their science teachers or department heads.) In addition, the student must have applied to (and must be the following fall have enrolled in) a college or university in California.

Kagro Foundation Scholarship

A scholarship applicant must be a resident of California and between a junior in high school to a senior in an accredited college or university. Graduate students are not eligible. Otherwise, KAGRO Foundation scholarships are open to all eligible applicants regardless of race, sex or national origin. All eligible applicants will be evaluated by the following criteria: scholastic achievement, good citizenship and involvement in their community, future potential and aspiration and financial need.

Drone Technology College Scholarship

The Drone Technology College Scholarship will be awarded to current U.S. college or university undergraduates who demonstrate an interest in pushing the drone industry forward, as demonstrated in an essay of 750-1,000 words. Successful applicants will write thorough, thoughtful essays that dive deeply into the topic, and will have a strong letter of support. Two awards of $1,000 each will be given.

Donald F. Hastings Scholarship

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering. Eligibility The Donald F. Hastings Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 overall grade point average. Student may be enrolled full or part time. Proof of financial need is required to qualify. Applicant must submit all required application information. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States. Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Ohio and California. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specific area for a minimum of one year.) Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four years. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. Selection Applicant will be chosen by the Named Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, which have been selected by the National Educational Scholarship Committee. Selection committee will determine award recipient in February of each year. Recipient will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon. Awards One $2,500 award will be given annually. No awards will be paid directly to the recipient. All awards will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation.

Donald and Shirley Hastings Scholarship

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering. FAFSA must be filed Applicant must submit all required application information Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Iowa, Ohio, or California. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specified area for a minimum of one year.) Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and be granted the award for a maximum of four years.

CRAEF Scholarship

CRAEF scholarships are competitive and awarded to qualified applicants based on an application, an essay, previous experience and an interview. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Top applicants will be contacted for an interview with the CRAEF scholarship panel, comprised of educators and industry leaders, by e-mail or phone six to eight weeks after the deadline. Scholarships will be awarded in two payments following proof of enrollment in two semesters. The first half of the scholarship is paid in early September and is made payable to the school financial aid office. The second check is paid to the student for the spring semester, once proof of enrollment with nine or more credit hours and minimum grade point average requirement are submitted. To qualify for a CRAEF scholarship, the applicant must: be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident be a California resident, although students may attend an out-of-state school be enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours at an accredited postsecondary school have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale be enrolled or will enroll in two consecutive semesters or terms have completed at least one grading term of a postsecondary program or be a high school senior going directly to a postsecondary school satisfy the minimum hours of industry-related work experience, paid or voluntary: 250 hours for high school students going into their freshmen year 400 hours for college freshmen going into their sophomore year 550 hours for students beyond sophomore year. All work experience must be verified through paycheck stubs or a signed letter from employers. Do not send copies of a W-2. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION TO BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR SIGNED APPLICATION: An essay, which must be typed and double-spaced. A copy of the applicant’s program curriculum from a college catalog or website with the major or degree, the number of credit hours and all degree requirements shown. A high school or college transcript. Transcripts don’t have to be a sealed official copy, but must be from the school. Proof of the required restaurant and hospitality industry work experience as listed above. Proof can be given in the form of scanned paycheck stubs or a scanned letter from an employer verifying hours worked. Do not send copies of a W-2. Two letters of recommendation from current or previous employers in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

APIASF/BBCN Bank Scholarship

Minimum Eligibility Criteria Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply Be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university in the Fall. APIASF/Toyota Scholarship

APIASF/United Health Foundation Scholarship

Minimum Eligibility Criteria Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply Be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university in the Fall. HSF/Darden Foundation Recipe for Success Scholarship
