Graduate Assumption Program of Loans for Education (Graduate APLE)
The Graduate APLE is a state-funded competitive teacher incentive program administered by the California Student Aid Commission. It is designed to encourage individuals to complete their graduate degree and serve as faculty at an accredited community college or university in California. Canadian Grant
The Seminary offers some financial assistance based on the disparity between Canadian and US currencies. The amount granted will vary each year based on the current exchange rate.
The You Kye-Soon Memorial Scholarship
The family of Mrs. You Kye-Soon instituted this scholarship as a memorial of her life of faith in her savior Jesus Christ and of her concern to make the Gospel known. Its purpose is to provide an annual scholarship for a deserving full-time student in the Master of Divinity program. Church Matching Grant
This matching grant brings churches and the Seminary together for support of students during their first full year. The Seminary's contribution to the matching grant is provided by the income from an endowment established by long-time friends of the seminary to help churches actively support seminarians and to share in the great task of theological education. The number of grants from this fund i... s limited by the annual income from the endowment. The Seminary, within this limitation, will match the contribution of a congregation up to a maximum of $1,000 per student. This grant is not based on financial need. These grants for first-year students of up to $1,000 were established by friends of the Seminary to encourage students from the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRC) to attend WSC. United Reformed Churches (URC) Matching Grant
These grants, established by friends of the Seminary, will match the support of a United Reformed Church (URC) or classes of a first year student up to a maximum of $1,000. Three grants are available each year and are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis to URC students who have been accepted for full time studies. Bellflower Missionary Grant
The Bellflower Missionary Assistance Grant may be awarded annually to one student attending WSC who intends to serve as a cross-cultural missionary following the completion of his theological training. Information regarding requirements may be obtained from the Dean of Students.
The Walter Swets Scholarship for Hispanic Ministry
The scholarship was instituted in honor of the ministry of Rev. Walter Swets, who served as pastor of Christ Reformed Church from 1959 until his retirement in 1997. The recipient of this scholarship will be a Hispanic student with demonstrated financial need, enrolled as a full time student in a degree program at Westminster Seminary California, whose intention is to later minister to the Hispani... c population either within the US or another country. In a year where there is no Hispanic student meeting the above criteria, the scholarship may be awarded to another student who has interest in pursuing Hispanic ministry, either as a missionary, pastor of a congregation, or serving a congregation that is seeking to reach out to Hispanics. This award was funded by Mrs. Johanna Awes to serve as a testimony of God's faithfulness to her husband and herself. The grants are awarded by the President of the Seminary to students meeting certain criteria. Such criteria include, but are not limited to: - high academic standing - full-time enrollment in the M.Div. degree program - status under care of a presbytery (or equivalent) as a student... of theology - proven record of leadership ability - potential for leadership in the church of Christ The financial need of the student may also be considered.
