California Scholarships

Some states or counties have hundreds of scholarships for which you may qualify.

LAF/CLASS Fund Ornamental Horticulture Program

The LAF/CLASS (California Landscape Architecture Student Scholarship) Fund is designed to assist students enrolled in programs of landscape architecture and ornamental horticulture in California. The awards are given to students in financial need who show promise and commitment to the profession. All applicants must be continuing their studies in landscape architecture or ornamental horticulture. Three $1,000 scholarships for juniors and seniors enrolled in ornamental horticulture curriculum at: Cal Poly Pomona (1 award); Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (1 award); and the University of California Davis (1 award).

Butrimovitz Family Endowment Fund

General Purpose: To provide scholarships to individuals in need who wish to pursue traditional Jewish education in the context of a Jewish day school, undergraduate, or graduate school setting. Geographic Limitations: San Francisco, San Mateo, northern Santa Clara, Marin and Sonoma Counties

Crain Educational Grants Program

Minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 - Current graduating senior or graduate of a public or private high school in San Mateo or Santa Clara counties - United States citizen - Demonstrated financial hardship.

Los Angeles Actuarial Club Actuarial Award

Requirements: Applicant must demonstrate interest in an actuarial science career and have a minimum 3.0 GPA (cumulative and for most recent academic term). Two letters of recommendation, two essays, and interview required. Eligibility: College junior, College senior

Los Angeles Hillel Council Medical Schp Program

Eligibility is currently limited to: 1. Students attending medical school in the state of California. 2. California residents attending medical school in the United States. 3. Past or present Hillel members at any medical school in the United States.

William J. and Marijane E. Adams, Jr. Scholarship

# of awards available: 1 award $ Amount: $3,000 Student Status: for study in the sophomore, junior or senior year. Requirements: Applicants must be enrolled in a mechanical engineering baccalaureate program. The award recipient will be selected on the basis of scholastic ability (minimum GPA 2.5), demonstrated interest in product development and design, and financial need. Locations: Attending a college or university in California, Hawaii or Nevada and demonstrates a special interest in product development and design. Scholarship Description ASME will award annually one scholarship to an ASME Student Member attending a college or university in California, Hawaii or Nevada and demonstrates a special interest in product development and design.

The YMF/ASCAP Foundation Leiber & Stoller Music Scholarship

Applicants must be residents of Southern California. If an applicant is not a U.S. citizen and is under age 18, the applicant's parents MUST live in Southern California. Open to graduating high school seniors only. One winner will receive $2,500 per academic year ($10,000 over four years) in tuition support to their college of choice, beginning in Fall. All applicants must be: Either vocalists, pianists, or orchestral instrumentalists Completing their senior year of high school during academic year Already accepted/enrolled into either a music conservatory OR a leading collegiate music program Planning to pursue a major in music See website for more information.

University of the Pacific/SAE Engineering Scholarship

Student Eligibility: Applicants must be incoming freshmen accepted by the School of Engineering and Computer Science. They should major in Mechanical Engineering and join SAE International as a student member. Terms: One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded, and is renewable for four years provided that the student remains in good academic standing at Pacific.

General Scholarships

To qualify, you must be a woman and have COMPLETED at least your first year in architecture; landscape architecture; civil, structural, mechanical or electrical engineering as related to architecture; urban and land planning; interior design; environmental design or architectural rendering and illustration. You must be attending a California school or be a California resident attending an out-of-state school. You must be enrolled for the ensuing year. A maximum of ten students will be chosen as finalists. They MUST APPEAR, at their own expense, for a mandatory interview in Los Angeles.

GGRASF Category III Scholarship

Opten to California residents who: - Attend a college or university part-time; and - Work in the foodservice or hospitality industry at least 20 hours per week - Have completed at least one semester as a foodservice major and have been accepted for the following semester; and - Attend an educational institution operating under Internal Revenue service Code Section 501 (c)(3), or an institution approved by the trustees of the GGRASF; and - Have maintained a minimum of 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale

David, Nancy, and Liza Cherney Scholarship Fund

General Purpose: To provide scholarships to enable girls to go to college. Criteria: Jewish; Financial Need Geographic Limitations: San Francisco, San Mateo, northern Santa Clara, Marin and Sonoma Counties

Henry and Tilda Shuler Scholarship Fund

General Purpose: To provide scholarships for youths for vocational training, college education, or other studies. Criteria: Jewish; financial aid. Geographic Limitations: San Francisco, San Mateo, northern Santa Clara, Marin and Sonoma Counties. Age Limitations: 26 or younger.
