Here are some of the Welding scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Louis DeFreitas - Santa Clara Section Named Scholarship

The award is sponsored by the Santa Clara Section in honor of Louis DeFreitas, a long-time member of the Section. The award is $3,000. Eligibility:• Most importantly, you must be enrolled in a welding-related educational or training program. • You must also be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent. • The school you attend must be in the United States or its territories, except for international scholarships. • You must also fill out the scholarship application and provide any documentation requested in the application instructions. • You are not required to be a member of the American Welding Society. As a matter of fact, if you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive a yearlong, full membership to the Society. If you are already a member, your membership will be extended for a year.

AWS District 3 Scholarship

Sponsored by District 3 and the Baltimore Section. The Award is $500.Eligibility:• Most importantly, you must be enrolled in a welding-related educational or training program. • You must also be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent. • The school you attend must be in the United States or its territories, except for international scholarships. • You must also fill out the scholarship application and provide any documentation requested in the application instructions. • You are not required to be a member of the American Welding Society. As a matter of fact, if you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive a yearlong, full membership to the Society. If you are already a member, your membership will be extended for a year.

Donald and Jean Cleveland - Willamette Valley Section Named Scholarship

This award is sponsored by Donald and the late Jean Cleveland in memory of their parents John and Tressie Barrong and Claude and Ruth Cleveland. The award is $1,250.Eligibility:• Most importantly, you must be enrolled in a welding-related educational or training program. • You must also be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent. • The school you attend must be in the United States or its territories, except for international scholarships. • You must also fill out the scholarship application and provide any documentation requested in the application instructions. • You are not required to be a member of the American Welding Society. As a matter of fact, if you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive a yearlong, full membership to the Society. If you are already a member, your membership will be extended for a year.

Bill Myers - District 6 Named Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the former AWS Allegheny Section. The Award is $500.Eligibility:• Most importantly, you must be enrolled in a welding-related educational or training program. • You must also be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent. • The school you attend must be in the United States or its territories, except for international scholarships. • You must also fill out the scholarship application and provide any documentation requested in the application instructions. • You are not required to be a member of the American Welding Society. As a matter of fact, if you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive a yearlong, full membership to the Society. If you are already a member, your membership will be extended for a year.

District 3 Shirley Bollinger Scholarship

PurposeThis scholarship is to pursue a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering or welding engineering technology.EligibilityAll applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:1. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age.2. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma.3. Applicant must have a 3.2 overall grade point average.4. Applicant must provide a letter of reference indicating how they will use their welding education.5. Student must be enrolled full time.6. Proof of financial need is required to qualify.7. Applicants has a documented work history that includes hands-on welding experience verified by an employer.8. Applicant must submit all required application information.9. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States.10. Applicant must reside in District 3.11. Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of 4 years.The award will be presented to individuals who reside in District 3. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society.

Detroit Arc Welding - District 11 Named Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the AWS Detroit Section. The Award is $1,250.Eligibility:• Most importantly, you must be enrolled in a welding-related educational or training program. • You must also be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent. • The school you attend must be in the United States or its territories, except for international scholarships. • You must also fill out the scholarship application and provide any documentation requested in the application instructions. • You are not required to be a member of the American Welding Society. As a matter of fact, if you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive a yearlong, full membership to the Society. If you are already a member, your membership will be extended for a year.

Morey Technical Training Scholarships

The Morey Technical Training Scholarships were established to assist students who are graduating from, or have previously graduated from, the Mt. Pleasant Area Technical Center and are pursuing a career in the field of welding, machine tool or mechanical drafting. Scholarships are intended for students who will be, or are currently attending Ferris State University or Mid Michigan Community College in pursuit of training/education related to their career choice. Scholarships are for tuition only. Scholarships are awarded for a two-year period as follows: 1 - $5,000 scholarship @ $2,500 per year2 - $3,000 scholarships@ $1,500 per year 2 - $2,000 scholarships@ $1,000 per year Eligibility Criteria: •Applicants must be a graduating senior from the Mt. Pleasant Area Technical Center OR have graduated from the Mt. Pleasant Area Technical Center within the past four (4) years.•Applicants must be planning to become enrolled, or are currently enrolled, in a two or four year welding, machine tool, or mechanical drafting program at Mid Michigan Community College or Ferris State University.Preferences: •The written recommendations of qualified individuals who are knowledgeable of the applicant’s career related skills, work/study habits and attitude.•The written portion of the applicant’s Scholarship Application that describes the applicant’s desire for a career in the fields of welding, machine tool, or mechanical drafting.•Financial need: Applicants have been requested to write a short essay stating, in their own words, why this scholarship would be helpful in allowing them to achieve their career goals.

Praxair International Scholarship

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals demonstrating his/her leadership abilities, and interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering or welding engineering technology. Eligibility The Praxair International Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student demonstrating leadership abilities and pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. * Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. * Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma. * Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours). * Applicant must submit all required application information. * Financial need is not a criteria in order to apply; however, it would be a primary consideration in prioritizing top candidates. * Applicant must maintain a minimum 2.5 overall grade point average in order to qualify. * Applicant should have demonstrated leadership abilities through clubs, organizations, extra-curricular academic activities, community involvement, etc. * Applicant must be a United States or Canadian citizen and plan to attend an academic institution within the United States or Canada. * Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four years. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. Selection Applicant will be chosen by the Named Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, which have been selected by the National Educational Scholarship Committee. Selection committee will determine award recipient in February of each year. Recipient will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon Awards One $2,500 award will be given annually. No awards will be paid to the recipient. All awards are for tuition and books only, and will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation. Deadline Deadline for application is January 15, for the following Fall Term. (Please confirm the deadline before filing an application.)

Jerry Robinson - Inweld Corporation Scholarship

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals, with significant financial need, interested in pursuing a career in welding. The scholarship is available to the recipient for a maximum of four years, based on GPA requirement, full time attendance, and welding curriculum. Eligibility The Jerry Robinson - Inweld Corporation Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in a welding program at an accredited university. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. * Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age as of October 1 of the year the scholarship is awarded. * Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma or G. E. D. in the year the scholarship is awarded. * Applicant must have a 2.5 overall grade point average. * Applicant must provide an essay as to why the funds are needed, how the scholarship would change his/her life, how it would allow him/her to further the joining sciences. * Student must be accepted at the specified university/college, and attend full-time. * Proof of financial need is required to qualify. Copies of student and parents/guardians previous year tax returns will be required. Student must provide proof that other financial aid has been applied for. * Applicant must submit all required application information. * Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States. * Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award will automatically be eligible to be granted the award for a maximum of four years. * This award is renewable for a maximum of four years. However, it will be the responsibility of the recipient to provide proof of the required designated GPA, full time attendance, and appropriate approved curriculum to continue receipt of scholarship. Deadline for the receipt of the final college transcript, proof of attendance, and proof of major will be July 1 of each year. Failure to provide this information by July 1 will result in the recipient being deemed ineligible for future awards. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. Selection Applicant will be chosen by the Named Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, which have been selected by the National Educational Scholarship Committee. Selection committee will determine award recipient in May of each year. Awards One $2,500 award will be given annually. No awards will be paid to the recipient. All awards are for tuition and books only, and will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation. Deadline Deadline for application is January 15, for the following Fall Term. Imagine America High School Scholarship

The Imagine America Foundation created its Imagine America High School Scholarship Program in 1998 to help provide scholarships for high school students. This annual scholarship program has helped thousands of high school seniors afford a career education at hundreds of career schools across the United States. Each year, every high school in the United States and Puerto Rico may nominate up to five graduating seniors to receive a $1,000 Imagine America scholarship!

Detroit Resistance Welding - District 11 Named Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the AWS Detroit Section. The Award is $1,250.Eligibility:• Most importantly, you must be enrolled in a welding-related educational or training program. • You must also be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent. • The school you attend must be in the United States or its territories, except for international scholarships. • You must also fill out the scholarship application and provide any documentation requested in the application instructions. • You are not required to be a member of the American Welding Society. As a matter of fact, if you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive a yearlong, full membership to the Society. If you are already a member, your membership will be extended for a year.

Donald F. Hastings Scholarship

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering. Eligibility The Donald F. Hastings Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 overall grade point average. Student may be enrolled full or part time. Proof of financial need is required to qualify. Applicant must submit all required application information. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States. Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Ohio and California. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specific area for a minimum of one year.) Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four years. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. Selection Applicant will be chosen by the Named Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, which have been selected by the National Educational Scholarship Committee.
