Law Scholarships

Here are some of the Law scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

The Sono Osato Scholarship Fund for Graduate Studies

We will be offering a limited number of competitive scholarships based on academic merit and financial need for current and former dancers who have received the maximum amount from the Caroline H. Newhouse Scholarship Fund and are pursuing graduate degrees in fields other than performance dance. The Osato Scholarship will be limited to a one-time grant of up to $5,000 to any one individual, paying for tuition and fees only. It is anticipated that the endowment will generate funds sufficient to award a grant to a minimum of two applicants annually. Award checks will be made out to the institution. Awards will not be granted retroactively (e.g. not be used to reimburse dancers for tuition already paid, for loans or other credit debt.) To be eligible to apply for a Sono Osato Scholarship applicants must: Have received the maximum allowed amount from the Newhouse Scholarship Fund. Have achieved a minimum 3.5 GPA for an undergraduate or graduate degree, or recent pre-requisite coursework. Be studying or planning to study at the graduate level for a degree in one of the approved areas, such as professional degrees (law and medicine), the medical arts (nursing, physicians assistant, physical therapy, etc.), the helping professions (social work, counseling, psychology, creative arts therapies, etc.), physical and social sciences, education, business and the humanities. Previous recipients of a Gasparinetti Scholarship award are not eligible to apply for an Osato Scholarship.

John N. Colberg Scholarship Fund

Established in 2003 by CIRI and other private donors, in memory of Mr. Colberg, who served with distinction as Chairman and Chairman Emeritus on the CIRI Board of Directors for almost 30 years. Through the John N. Colberg Scholarship Fund, the foundation awards $8,000 and $10,000 college and graduate scholarships and college and graduate scholarships of up to $2,500 per semester to Alaska Natives who are original enrollees and the direct lineal descendants of original enrollees of Cook Inlet Region, Inc. for studies in law.

Italian-American Republican Club Scholarship

For Torrington residents of Italian descent who are entering their junior or senior year at a college or university and are majoring in political science, government, history, or pre-law. [$350 awarded] Giving limited to Torrington residents.

Dr. Joe McAdoo Southwest Missouri Chapter of Public Relations Soc

Richard W. and Florence B. Irwin Scholarship

For residents of Northampton pursuing a legal education. Established in 1971 under the will of Leigh Sanford. Nine awards totaling $41,000 were made in previous year.

Alfred Chisholm/BASF Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Value: $5,000 Classifications: Open Minimum GPA: 2.7 Eligible Majors: Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Law, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Pulp and Paper Engineering, Systems Engineering, Construction Engineering Eligible Schools: HBCU Schools Eligible Locations: Open Scholarship Detail: This scholarship was created in 1997 in memory of Alfred Chisholm, a leader in his community. With the support of the BASF African-American Employees Group (AAEG), one deserving student will receive $5,000 toward college assistance. Candidates must also have a relative employed with BASF.

MCCA Lloyd M. Johnson Jr., Scholarship

MCCA accomplishes its mission through the collection and dissemination of information about diversity in the legal profession. The MCCA Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program provides scholarship support for newly entering first year law students. The Scholarship Program will provide scholarships at $10,000 per year for up to three years. The total commitment per student is up to $30,000. In addition, several students will also receive a one-time award of $10,000 to assist with their first year expenses. MCCA intends to foster mentoring opportunities for the selected scholars as well as assist in the placement of the winners in paid summer internship positions with corporate law departments during the summer immediately following successful completion of their first year of law school. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and able to show proof of same, if requested. Applicant must show proof of his/her acceptance into a U.S. accredited law school on or before the application deadline. Applicant must have an interest in corporate law, including working in a corporate law department and/or law firm. Applicant must have an interest in diversity. Applicant must be financially disadvantaged and have completed the FAFSA and provide additional documents as requested. Applicant must demonstrate community service and leadership qualities. Nissan/UNCF Shift Knowledge Scholarship for HBCU Students in TN

Scholarship Value: up to $10,000 Classifications: College Freshman, College Sophomore, College Junior, College Senior Minimum GPA: 3.0 Eligible Majors: Engineering, Design, Marketing, Business, Communications, Public Relations, Finance, Law, Accounting, History, English Eligible Schools: Fisk University, Knoxville College, Lane College, LeMoyne-Owen College, Tennessee State University Eligible Locations: Open How to Apply : Apply Online Scholarship Detail: The NISSAN/UNCF Shift Knowledge Scholarship was created in 2004 to recognize the academic achievement and leadership qualities of students, and to honor the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This program is open to students currently enrolled in an HBCU located in Tennessee having a minimum GPA of a 3.0 and pursuing majors in the fields of engineering, design, marketing, business, communications, public relations, finance or law, accounting history and English. The Martin Samuelsohn Scholarship for Jewish Students Attending Southern Methodist University School of Law

Established by Martin Samuelsohn to encourage Jewish students to attend his alma mater, Southern Methodist University School of Law. Academic excellence as well as financial need and community involvement will be considered. One $3,900.00 scholarship will be awarded. Scholarship candidates must be enrolled in or applying for full-time study at Southern Methodist University School of Law and will be chosen as worthy for consideration by the School. Candidates must have maintained a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.1, either while at Law School or in their previous course of studies. The Scholarship Committee will interview the candidates, and then evaluate them based on the interview and the following criteria: Academic Excellence - 75%, Financial Need - 20%, Community Involvement - 5%. Education level: Undergraduate seniors or current law students GPA: 3.1 University: Southern Methodist University School of Law Hours enrolled/semester: must be enrolled in or applying for full-time study Giving primarily in Texas.

Pfizer/UNCF Corporate Scholars Program

Interns, with the exception of 1st year law school students, earn a scholarship up to $15,000 while 1st year law students earn a premium internship pay. Selected students participate in an 8-10 week summer internship at Pfizer corporate facilities and are eligible to receive scholarship funding. Students will work with a best-in-class pharmaceutical company in a range of key business and research areas. Applicants must complete an online application, have TWO faculty members complete online letters of recommendation and, upon request, submit a current transcript.
