Michigan Scholarships

"Here are the first 20 scholarships where one of the requirements is based on where you live."

Some states or counties have hundreds of scholarships for which you may qualify.

Brock Safronoff Scholarship

The Safronoff Scholarship was established in 2001 and is awarded to a worthy Athlete/Scholar in memory of Brock Safronofi. Baseball players will have priority. One $400 scholarship awarded annually and alternates each year between Central High School and West Senior High.

TC Central Senior Class Scholarship

The Central Senior Class scholarship was established in 2006 and is based upon funds donated by each Senior Class. It recognizes achievements during school in a variety of programs and encourages continuing education. $500 scholarships awarded annually (number of recipients varies).

TCAPS Transportation Association Scholarship

The Transportation Association Scholarship was established in 2006. It is to be awarded by the Transportation Association to a student who has improved his/ her GPA during the school year to a 2.0 or better, has exhibited an improved social attitude, and improved attendance. The student should also demonstrate financial need. One $500 scholarship awarded annually at each Central High School, West Senior High and Traverse City High School.

Interlochen Women's Club Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a female Interlochen-area resident.

Clubs of America

Eligible students will: Write an essay of no fewer than 600 words about their career aspirations and how their current course load will help them achieve success in their careers. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? Thinking outside the box is encouraged! Email their essay as a .doc or .pdf attachment to: [email protected] YouTube submissions are optional, although not required. Video should be no longer than 5 minutes. (Essays submitted via YouTube must also be submitted in writing.)

Benjamin Blonde Memorial Scholarship Fund

APPLICANT: ˆ Must be a graduating senior of Litchfield High School and a resident in the Litchfield School District. ˆ Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA at high school graduation. ˆ Must attend a two or four-year accredited college, university or certified trade school. ˆ Applicant must submit an HCCF scholarship application form. 1 — $1,000 Non-renewable Scholarship

HSF/Hormel Scholarship

Program Description:The HSF/Hormel Scholarship Program is a scholarship of $2,500 awarded for applicants interested in a career in the food industry.In addition, interested students can apply to be considered for a paid internship. Eligibility Requirements: * Be of Hispanic heritage * Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States with a valid Social Security Number at the time of application. All legal permanent residents must submit a copy of their valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired) * Have a permanent address in one of the following Midwest states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin * Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale * Be a Junior with an intended graduation date between December and August * Be majoring in Accounting, Mechanical Engineering (includes Mechanical Technology), Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering/Technology (includes Industrial Management) Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration (includes Operations), Management, Agriculture Science/Agronomy (includes Agriculture Engineering, Agribusiness, Ag Economics, Food Service), Computer Science, Information Technology (IT/MIS) (includes Computer Information Systems), Zoology (includes Animal Science), Marketing (includes Professional Selling), Hospitality Administration (includes Hotel/Restaurant Management) or related majors * Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Dorothy and Dick Burgess Scholarship

The Dorothy and Dick Burgess Scholarship Fund was established to provide deserving young students, who might otherwise be unable to afford it, the opportunity to attend a smaller Michigan college* *A smaller public Michigan college is defined as a 2 or 4-year College or University whose annual yearly tuition costs do not exceed $17,000. These schools include (but are not limited to) Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Jackson Community College, Michigan Technological University, or Western Michigan University. Schools that will not be considered include (but are not limited to) the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Hillsdale College, or Spring Arbor University. Eligibility Requirements: Proof of financial need. Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above Demonstrate good citizenship, high moral character, and potential for leadership and academic success. Plan to pursue a course of study that leads to a degree in earth science, engineering, premedical, or Christian ministry. Proof of acceptance to a smaller, accredited Michigan 2 or 4-year college or university. Plan to complete a baccalaureate degree within four consecutive years. Who Can Apply: Home-schooled students Graduating high school senior Previous recipients Scholarship Criteria: An interview may be requested at the discretion of the scholarship committee. Scholarship Award: Up to $4,000. Scholarship Use: Tuition, books, fees, or other academic related costs

Bob and Dawn Hardy Automotive Scholarship

For students enrolled in the AST Program at Jackson College. The Bob and Dawn Hardy Automotive Scholarship provides two awards. Eligibility Requirements: Cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher Who Can Apply: Applicants need to be currently enrolled full-time or part-time in Jackson College’s Automotive Service Technology or Ford Maintenance and Light Repair Associate in Applied Science Program or Automotive Service Technology or Ford Maintenance and Light Repair Certificate Program. Graduating high school senior Student already enrolled in and taking undergraduate classes Adult returning to college Previous recipients Scholarship Award: Up to $3,000; More than one scholarship may be awarded Scholarship Use: Tuition and fees and required course materials such as tools

The Grimaldi Foundation Scholarship

Giving limited to residents of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, MI.

Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG) - Detroit Scholarship

PFLAG Detroit offers three $500 scholarships to college students who have had some connection directly or indirectly with GLBT issues. They need not be GLBT, but must have worked in areas that are related to the glbt community. Students must complete an application form. Applications/nominations are screened by the Scholarship Committee and awards are made by July 31. for information please see http://www.pflagdetroit.org/.

The Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarships in Horticulture

Purpose: To encourage the study of horticulture and related fields. History: The Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarship Fund was established in 1981 by Mrs. John Berdan, a member of the Garden Club of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is in honor of her friend, Katharine MacConnell Grosscup, a talented gardener and enthusiastic conservationist who shared her knowledge with family, friends, and garden clubs. Provisions: Provides several students annually with financial assistance of up to $3500 each. Eligibility: Open to college juniors, seniors, or graduate students in horticulture or a related field, with preference given to students from Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky, and Indiana.
