Mathematics Scholarships

Here are some of the Mathematics scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Davidson Fellowships

To be eligible for the Davidson Fellowship, each applicant must: - Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. resident - Be under the age of 18 on October 1. Individuals born on or before October 1, 1986 are not eligible. There is no minimum age for eligibility. - Have completed a prodigious work in one of the following categories: Science, Technology, Mathematics, Music - Composer, Vocalist, Classical Instrumentalist or Jazz Instrumentalist, Literature, Philosophy, Outside the Box - a combination of Science, Technology or Mathematics AND Music, Literature or Philosophy. - Be able to demonstrate that the work is the applicant's own creation. Guidance from teachers and mentors is acceptable, as long as the work is the applicant's. - Be available to attend, with a parent/guardian, the awards reception and other recognition events to be held in Washington, DC in Sept.

Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:To be eligible for scholarships offered by DFBSST, all applicants must meet the following criteria: * African-American, undergraduate student majoring (or intending to major) in a technical field of study (i.e., engineering, math, science, etc.), * Be enrolled (or identify his or her intention to enroll) at one of the predominantly Black colleges or universities and * Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Evaluation Criteria:Applicants are evaluated based on the following criteria: 1. Academic achievement (grades and SAT scores, especially science/math), 2. Personal essay describing career goals, current and past relevant extracurricular activities, etc., 3. Recommendations (teachers and guidance counselors), and 4. Financial need. Applicants are first ranked based on consideration of items 1, 2 and 3 above. If two (2) applicants are considered to be equal, the candidate with the greatest financial need is ranked higher. Award Determination:The amount of the scholarships awarded each student is determined by the DFBSST Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are based on merit and financial need. Scholarship awards are up to $2,000 per year. Support is renewed annually, for a maximum of four (4) years, as long as the students remains in good academic standing at the same institution, enrolled in a full-time, undergraduate science or engineering curriculum, and submits a renewal application.

Dr. Ellen Veed Mathematics Scholarship

Must be a full time student majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science.

Elgin and Freda Denio Math Scholarship

Must be a resident of Kansas majoring in Mathematics or Computer Science.

Gene and Pauline Etter Scholarship

Recipient must be a declared Mathematics or Computer Science major with a good academic record.

Jimmy Rice Memorial Mathematics Fund

Must be a senior majoring in Mathematics who plan to attend graduate school or seniors who have been accepted in the FHSU graduate school for a master of Liberal Arts degree with a concentration in Math.

Mathematics/Computer Science - Academic Opportunity Award

Prospective Math or Computer Science major. These awards are for incoming freshmen only.

Ora and Everett Marshall Scholarship

The recipient must be a Mathematics or Computer Science major with a grade of "B"or better in Analytic Geometry and Calculus 234. Must have above average leadership skills; financial need will be considered.

Ron and Cathy Sandstrom Mathematics and Computer Science Scholarship

Recipients will be students enrolled in the Mathematics and Computer Science department with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Ruth & Roger Pruitt Mathematics & Computer Science Scholarship

Recipients will be students enrolled in the Mathematics and Computer Science department with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Vivian Baxter Scholarship

Recipient must be a Mathematics or Computer Science major.

Wilmont Toalson Math Scholarship

Preference to students majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science in good academic standing who are at least sophomore standing.
