Environmental Science Scholarships

ACS Technical Divisions sponsor scholarship programs for qualified applicants who want to enter the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology and teaching. The following students are eligible to apply: high school seniors entering college and planning to pursue full-time study in a chemically-related field college freshmen, sophomores or juniors currently pursuing or planning to pursue full-time study in a chemically related field community college students majoring in a two-year chemical technology program or planning to transfer to a four-year school

Eligibility Requirements: Be of Hispanic American, African American, Asian Pacific Islander American, or American Indian/Alaskan Native heritage. Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired) Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. Be a current Sophomore majoring in one of the following: Accounting Chemical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering Environmental Engineering Geology/Geosciences Information Technology (IT/MIS) Mechanical Engineering Petroleum Engineering - OR - Be a current Senior planning to enroll in a Master's degree program majoring in one of the following: Geology/Geosciences Petroleum Engineering Must submit a resume with your application Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The Asian Pacific Community Fund partners with Verizon to financially assist students in their pursuit of higher education as they face the challenge of significantly rising costs of obtaining a college degree. These awards will support those who excel academically, are leaders amongst their peers and are making a positive impact in their communities. Eligibility: Students who are residents of California, Oregon or Washington OR students attending college in one of those states High School Senior who plan to enroll as a 1st year college student in a U.S. accredited 4-year college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student majoring in math, engineering, or a science (Please check website for complete listing of majors eligible for this scholarship) Have a minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0

Peters Foundation, Corp., is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides a limited amount of scholarship grants to high school seniors pursuing studies in the field of environment, conservation and forestry at any accredited college or studies in primary or secondary education at a Christian college. The scholarships are a total award that range from $10,000 to $20,000 over a four-year period ($2,500 to $5,000 per year) that may be for tuition and are administered at the determination of the selection committee of the Foundation. The selection committee determines scholarship amount based on economic need, academic potential and other analysis. Students receiving scholarships will be subject to reporting requirements to the Foundation. Applicants must attend colleges located in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona or Colorado. The selection committee will perform a Phase I application analysis. Selected applicants will be invited to complete a Phase II application. The selection committee will subsequently perform a Phase II application analysis.

The South Dakota Association of Environmental Professionals (SDAEP) Scholarship Program provides one  or more  scholarships annually to students with directed  studies relating  to the protection and enhancement of our natural resources, the environment, and other similar fields. Who is eligible for the SDAEP Scholarship? · Applicants should desire a career in a trade supportive to the protection and enhancement of our natural resources, environment, and/or related fields. · Students that are  intending  to  enroll  or are  already  enrolled  at  a  South Dakota  university, technical institution, or other post­secondary trade school. Applicants must intend to enroll for the fall semester. · High school seniors are eligible to apply. · Students that possess a Grade Point Average of 2.0 or greater · Part time studies will be considered if applicant can show good cause for other than full ­time studies and  that the  course  of study is directed  toward  a  degree,  certificate  or similar identification of graduation. · Students who have received an SDAEP scholarship in the past are eligible to apply each year. · Children and spouses of Scholarship Committee members are not eligible. What is considered a course of study that wil provide protection and enhancement of our natural resources and the environment? Related  fields include  but are  not limited  to  business administration, accounting, biology, chemistry, trucking, geology, hydrology, engineering, auto mechanics, computer  science, education, heating/ventilation/refrigeration, environmental sciences, engineering  technicians, government administration, agribusiness, energy technology, and more.

Who is eligible for SDSWMA Scholarship? An applicant should desire a career in a trade supportive to the protection and enhancement of our natural resources and environment, the solid waste industry and/or related fields. Applicants must intend to enroll for the fall semester. Preference will be given to South Dakota residents intending to or enrolled at a South Dakota institution of higher learning, vocational school, or other post-secondary trade school. High school seniors are eligible to apply. Part-time studies will be considered if applicant can show good cause for other than full-time studies and that the course of study is directed toward a degree, certificate or similar identification of graduation. Students who have received an SDSWMA scholarship in the past are eligible to apply each year although preference will be given to new applicants. Children and spouses of Scholarship Committee members are not eligible. What is considered a course of study that will provide protection and enhancement of our natural resources and the environment or solid waste Industry? SDSWMA membership consists of a broad range of industries relating to and supporting the proper disposal, reuse, hauling, or recycling of solid waste. Related fields include but are not limited to business administration, accounting, biology, chemistry, trucking, geology, hydrology, engineering, auto mechanics, computer science, heating / ventilation / refrigeration, environmental sciences, engineering technicians, government administration, agribusiness, education, biohazard, energy technology, and more.

Academic/research discipline: Engineering or science major with emphasis on: Decommissioning/decontamination or, Management/characterization of radioactive waste or, Restoration of the environment or Nuclear engineering. Further requirements are: The scholarship is limited to U.S. citizens who are enrolled in U.S. schools. Applicants for the DD&R Scholarship must submit a brief description of his/her long and short term professional objectives. The student will join the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and designate the DDR Division as one of his/her professional division. The student will commit to participating in the DD&R Division Activities by attending one or both the annual and winter meetings of the ANS and serving as a student representative at the DD&R Executive Committee meetings at the ANS meeting. The Division will provide funding for the student's travel, including student registration, reasonable transportation, food, and lodging.

For students pursuing a degree in engineering or science major with emphasis on:/ Decommissioning/decontamination or, Management/characterization of radioactive waste or, Restoration of the environment or, Nuclear engineering. Special selection criteria, restrictions, and other special requirements (if any): The student must be enrolled in a curriculum of engineering and the scholarship is limited to U.S. citizens who are enrolled in U.S. schools. Applicants for the DD&R Scholarship must submit a description of long-term and short-term professional objectives. This scholarship provides $25,000 for a post-baccalaureate student in the water environment field. The scholarship is for education related expenses such as room and board, tuition and books. The scholarship may not be used to cover stipends or wages. Application Requirements and Criteria: Member of the Water Environment Federation. Completed application providing a summary of academic and practical experience in the environmental field. Official college/university transcripts. Letter of acceptance to a graduate program in the water environment field. Recommendations from three persons (at least one of these persons must be a member of the Water Environment Federation) who can attest to the applicant's academic and/or practical experience. A detailed statement of degree objectives as related to applicant's career goals and intent to work in the water environment field (750 words minimum; 1,000 words maximum). Statement must accompany the application. Recipients of the scholarship are expected to make a commitment to work in the water environment field for two years following completion of the degree. Applications Accepted From: Post-baccalaureate students in the water environment field. Application forms must be completed and submitted along with three letters of reference. Recipient is responsible for taxes due on the award.

Applications are now being accepted for the CT Section AWWA Associates Committee General Scholarship Program, from CT Section AWWA members or their children/dependents, who have not previously been awarded a CT Section AWWA scholarship. High School seniors and students currently enrolled in an education program beyond the secondary level in a 2 year, 4 year or graduate program are eligible. Student members of CT AWWA are also eligible. Awards will be based on academic performance, participation in school and community activities, application completeness and autobiographical sketch. Applicants must submit a completed application form and the following information: • A transcript of your high school record and college record, if applicable • A typed and signed autobiographical sketch highlighting: Your accomplishments, interests, hobbies, future plans; and The name of the last book you read, why you read it, and its significance to you. • Identify a person (not a relative) who has most influenced you and explain why. • Identify any special circumstances that you wish to be considered that may distinguish you from other applicants. These may include but are not limited to obstacles you have overcome, academic goals, interests, advancements, financial constraints, etc.

Each year, the Likins Scholarship Committee awards a minimum of $2,500 to a maximum of $25,000 in scholarships. The scholarships are distributed in $2,500 or more increments to deserving Florida students, either in undergraduate or graduate school. Application Instructions Purpose The Florida Section American Water Works Association will annually award up to $2,500 scholarships or more per student to eligible students pursuing a degree relating to the drinking water industry. The scholarship will provide reimbursement of tuition, books, and fees through the College/University Financial Aid Department over the upcoming two (2) year period. Scholarships will be awarded in both undergraduate and graduate categories. Eligibility Applicant must be an upper level undergraduate (over 65 credit hours) or graduate student enrolled in an accredited Florida Institution and currently majoring in an area related to the drinking water industry. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average based on a 4.0 system. Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible. Selection Process Evaluation will be made on the basis of academic performance, work experience, community and civic activities, honor, career goals, letters of recommendation, and evidence of leadership, motivation, character, and self-reliance. At the option of the Scholarship Committee, the top five candidates may be telephone interviewed by a member of the scholarship committee. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Florida Section American Water Works Association. Final Selection: Committee will make final selection of scholarship awardees by August 1st yearly.
