Computer Science Scholarships

Available to students who illustrate why their lives are in alignment with the AHIMA Foundation’s Guidelines on Diversity Eligibility To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Current member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) 2. Actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours towards pursuing a degree 3. Completed 24 credit hours towards a degree (for graduate degree applicants, this can include undergraduate credit hours) 4. Have at least six (6) credit hours remaining after the award date (after December 30) 5. Achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0) or 4.5 (out of 5.0) based on the most recently completed 24 credit hours 6. Have not been awarded any AHIMA Foundation scholarship for the academic degree being sought through this application 7. The High Technology Scholar/Intern Tuition Waiver Program provides an incentive to business and industry to support the computer information technology/science and engineering students through scholarships and internships. Public higher education institutions are encouraged to seek funding from business and industry for computer and information science and technology and engineering scholarships that the Commonwealth will, in turn, match with a full waiver of the cost of a student's annual tuition charges. In addition to scholarships and tuition waivers, students participating in the program gain real life experience in their chosen paths through business and industry internships. This program provides added incentive for high-achieving high school students to attend public institutions of higher education in Massachusetts. Who Is Eligible? To be eligible for a High Technology Scholar/Intern Tuition Waiver, a student must: Enroll in an eligible program as determined by the Board of Higher Education. Be deemed eligible by the participating company or corporation. Be a permanent legal resident of Massachusetts. Be a United States citizen or eligible non-citizen. Not be in default of any Federal or state loan or owe a refund on any previously received financial aid. Not have received a prior bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Eligible Institutions Any institution within the system of public institutions of higher education Section 5 of Chapter 15A of the General Laws. Eligible Programs Computer Information Science/Technology and Engineering programs to be reviewed and determined annually by the Board of Higher Education. Award Amounts Individual student awards shall match industry scholarships up to the resident undergraduate tuition rate at the participating institution. How Do I Apply? Scholarship Guidelines Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours in undergraduate studies leading to a career in advertising, marketing, graphic design or digital media; The student must display excellent oral and written communication skills; Scholarship funds must be used for tuition at a Florida institution; AAF-Orlando prefers that students have an overall 3.0 grade point average, but those students with financial need who fall below a 3.0 are encouraged to apply; The student must agree to assist AAF-Orlando and Ad 2 Orlando on projects; The student must write a letter detailing their career goals and outlining their planned involvement with the Advertising Community; The student must complete an application and submit it with a letter of recommendation from one of the student’s professors. A letter from an internship supervisor is recommended, but not required. AAF-Orlando encourages participation in Ad 2 Orlando but does not restrict scholarship applicants to members. The student may be asked to interview with the AAF-Orlando Scholarship Committee during the application process.

The NSHSS Foundation provides STEM scholarships for underrepresented groups in order to help reduce financial barriers for those with academic and leadership potential and the desire to pursue STEM careers. We recognize that in order to increase diversity in the technology workforce, we must increase diversity in undergraduates. The Foundation awards scholarships to applicants who are pursuing a degree in, or closely related to, one of the following STEM disciplines: Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering Biosciences/Pre-med/health-related fields Chemical Engineering Chemistry Civil Engineering Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences Computer and Computational Sciences, including Statistics and Accounting Electrical Engineering Geosciences Information Sciences Materials Science and Engineering Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Nuclear Engineering Oceanography Operations Research Physics Teaching in STEM areas

NSHSS Foundation scholarships have been created to help reduce financial barriers for high school students as they prepare for upcoming careers in STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), business, economics, public policy, and environmental science and sustainability. The Foundation seeks to engage these future leaders in order to help fuel the global economy, stimulate innovation and creativity, and yield a strong ethical foundation for decision-making. We seek to support higher education to enable our future leaders to achieve their dreams.
