Science Technologies Scholarships

Purpose * The purpose of the award is to reward top quality research and publication by young students (under age 35 as of the application deadline) at master’s or doctoral level and to encourage researchers to use the ASPRS annual conference as a vehicle to publish and present their findings.Eligibility * Eligibility for this award is limited to papers describing civil (non-military) applications of photogrammetry or remote sensing. * The applicant must be a student enrolled in a masters or doctoral program at a recognized institution of higher education chartered to award higher degrees. * The applicant must be the principal author of a paper accepted for publication in the proceedings of the ASPRS annual conference. Such papers may have multiple authors, but only the principal author may apply. * The applicant must be a current student member of ASPRS.Award * The award consists of a certificate and a grant of $2,000, equally divided among the recipients if more than one is selected. This amount can be varied at the request of BAE Systems. * Selected paper(s) will be published in Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing (PE&RS), the official journal of ASPRS. * The award is presented by the ASPRS Foundation with funding provided by BAE Systems.Application * The applicant must submit an abstract for consideration for presentation at the ASPRS annual conference on or before the published deadline of the Call for Papers. * Once the abstract is accepted for presentation, the applicant must submit the full paper for publication in the ASPRS conference proceedings, together with the Application Form for the BAE Systems Award. Both the paper and the application must be submitted on or before the required deadline for receipt of the paper for the conference proceedings, as published in the Instructions to Authors. This is the only award with an alternate deadline for application submittal. * Application consists of the standard Application Form and a signed statement from the applicant’s faculty advisor that the applicant is a student working on the stated degree and that the published paper is primarily the work of the student. Applicants who have made only minor contributions to the work, for example, when it is primarily the work of their professor or research supervisor, are not eligible for the award.References and transcripts are not required.Award Selection * The selection committee will review applications for eligibility and will judge the submitted papers of eligible applicants, taking into account the significance of the research or innovation, the quality of scientific writing and other criteria that the panel may see fit to include. * The selected applicant must agree to personally present the paper at the Annual Conference.

Purpose * The purpose of the Award is to encourage and commend college/university graduate students or post-doctoral researchers who display exceptional interest, desire, ability, and aptitude in the field of remote sensing or other related geospatial information technologies, and who have a special interest in developing practical uses of these technologies.Eligibility * The Award is made to a graduate student (Masters or Ph.D. level) currently enrolled or intending to enroll in a college or university in the United States or Canada, or a recently graduated (within three years of graduation) post-doctoral researcher, who is pursuing a program of study aimed at starting a professional career where expertise is required in remote sensing or other related geospatial information technologies.Award * The award consists of a certificate and a check in the amount of $5,000 and a one-year student or associate membership (new or renewal) in ASPRS. * The award is presented by the ASPRS Foundation from funds donated by students, associates, colleagues, and friends of Robert Colwell, one of the world's most respected leaders in remote sensing, a field that he stewarded from the interpretation of World War II aerial photographs to the advanced acquisition and analysis of many types of geospatial data from military and civilian satellite programs.ApplicationA current or beginning graduate student or post-doctoral researcher who wishes to be considered for the award must submit an application that includes the following items: * A listing of courses taken, and/or those to be taken, in remote sensing or other related geospatial information technologies, recognizing that instruction in remote sensing is often embedded in courses taught in many different disciplines. * An official transcript of all college/university level courses completed and grades received to demonstrate scholastic ability. * A listing of internships, special projects or work experience; technical papers, research reports or other documents; courses taught as a lecturer or teaching assistant; and presentations made that may support the applicant’s capabilities in this field. * Three letters of recommendation from faculty members or professionals having knowledge of the applicant’s capabilities (demonstrated or potential). * A statement, not to exceed 2 pages, detailing the applicant’s educational and/or research goals that relate to the advancement of remote sensing or other related geospatial information technologies and the applications of these technologies for mapping, monitoring and/or assessing land (including coastal) resources and helping solve land resource planning or management issues. (Note: Dr. Colwell’s research focused mostly on developing and demonstrating practical uses of remote sensing.)Award Selection * The Selection Committee evaluates each applicant, applying equal weight to each of the five items listed above. The applicant who, in the opinion of the majority of the Committee, has the highest overall ranking is designated as the winner.

Purpose * The purpose of the award is to facilitate graduate-level studies and career goals adjudged to address new and innovative uses of signal processing, image processing techniques, and the application of photogrammetry to real-world techniques within the earth imaging industry. This award is presented by a grant from the ASPRS Foundation on behalf of corporate contributions to the Foundation by Intergraph, a technology company that provides innovative solutions to the earth imaging industry.Eligibility * The award is restricted to members of ASPRS. It is intended for a student who is currently pursuing graduate-level studies or who plans to enroll for graduate studies in a recognized college or university in the United States or elsewhere.Award * The award consists of a one-year Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 and a certificate.ApplicationIn addition to the application form, and official transcripts, applicants must submit the following items: * A 2-page statement detailing applicant’s educational and career plans for continuing studies in photogrammetric applications. * Two completed letters of reference from faculty members who have knowledge of the applicant’s capabilities. * Technical papers, research reports, or other pertinent items produced by the applicant and indicating capabilities in this field may be submitted with the application, but are not required.Award Selection * The Intergraph Scholarship selection committee will evaluate each application and apply equal weight to each of the items listed above. The applicant who, in the opinion of the majority of the committee, has the highest overall ranking will be designated as the recipient.

Purpose * The purpose of the award is to encourage upper-division undergraduate and graduate-level college students to pursue a course of study in surveying and photogrammetry leading to a career in the geospatial mapping profession.Eligibility * Students currently enrolled or intending to enroll in a college or university in the United States or Canada, who are pursing a program of study in surveying or photogrammetry leading to a career in the geospatial mapping profession.Award * The award consists of a certificate and a check in the amount of $3,000 and a one-year student or associate membership (new or renewal) in ASPRS. * This award is presented by ASPRS, MAPPS (the Management Association of Private Photogrammetric Surveyors) and ACSM (the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping) through the ASPRS Foundation from funds donated by students, associates, colleagues, and friends of Frank Moffitt as a memorial to his lifetime contributions to the photogrammetric surveying profession.ApplicationAn upper-division undergraduate or graduate-level student who wishes to be considered for the award must submit an application that includes the following items: * A listing of courses taken, and/or those to be taken, in surveying and photogrammetry and other related geospatial information technologies, recognizing that instruction in remote sensing is often embedded in courses taught in many different disciplines. * A transcript of all college/university level courses completed and grades received to demonstrate scholastic ability. * A listing of internships, special projects or work experience; technical papers, research reports or other documents; courses taught as a lecturer or teaching assistant; and presentations made that may support the applicant’s capabilities in this field. * Two letters of recommendation from faculty members or professionals having knowledge of the applicant’s capabilities (demonstrated or potential). * A statement, not to exceed 2 pages, detailing the applicant’s educational and/or research goals that relate to the advancement of surveying and photogrammetry and other related geospatial information technologies and the applications of these technologies. The statement should also include long-term careen goals in the profession and future plans.Award Selection * The Committee evaluates each candidate’s application, applying equal weight to each element outlined above. * The Committee will also assign additional points, as appropriate, to the final scores for those applicants having attributes that reflect Professor Moffitt’s career and contributions.

Purpose * The purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage and commend college students who display exceptional interest, desire, ability, and aptitude to enter the profession of surveying, mapping, photogrammetry, or geospatial information and technology. In addition, the Scholarship recognizes students who excel at an aspect of the profession that Ken Osborn demonstrated so very well, that of communications and collaboration.Eligibility * The Scholarship is made to an under-graduate student currently enrolled or intending to enroll in a college or university in the United States, who is pursuing a program of study in preparation for entering the profession in the general area of surveying, mapping, photogrammetry, or geospatial information and technology.Award * This annual Scholarship consists of a certificate and a check in the amount of $2,000 and a one year student membership (new or renewal) in the Society. * This award is presented by the ASPRS Foundation, with funding provided by donations from friends and colleagues of Kenneth Osborn as a tribute to him.ApplicationA student who wishes to be considered for the Award must submit an application that includes the following items: * A listing of courses taken in surveying, mapping, photogrammetry, and geospatial information and technology and the academic grades received. * An official transcript of all college or university level courses completed and grades received to demonstrate scholastic ability. * Two letters of recommendation from faculty members or professionals having knowledge of the applicant’s capabilities (demonstrated or potential) as a professional in this field. * Papers, research reports, or other items produced by the applicant that may support the capabilities in this field. * A statement of work experience that may include internships, other forms of work experience, or special projects that demonstrate excellence in these fields and in communications and collaboration. Purpose * The purpose of the Award is to encourage and commend college students who display exceptional interest, desire, ability, and aptitude to enter the profession of teaching Surveying, Mapping, or Photogrammetry.Eligibility * The Award is made to a graduate student member of ASPRS currently enrolled or intending to enroll in a college or university in the United States, who is pursuing a program of study in preparation for entering the teaching profession in the general area of Surveying, Mapping, or Photogrammetry.Award * The award consists of a certificate and a check in the amount of $3,000. * This Award is administered by the ASPRS Foundation from funds donated by the friends and colleagues of Paul R. Wolf as a memorial to him. Recognized nationally and internationally, Paul was an outstanding educator and practitioner of Surveying, Mapping, and Photogrammetry and a great friend of the Society. As author, teacher, and mentor, Paul made significant educational and academic contributions to these fields.ApplicationApplications must include the following items: * A listing of courses taken in Surveying, Mapping, and Photogrammetry and the academic grades received. * An official transcript of all college or university level courses completed and grades received to demonstrate scholastic ability. * Two letters of recommendation from faculty members having knowledge of the applicant’s capabilities (demonstrated or potential) as an educator in this field. * Papers, research reports, or other items produced by the applicant that may support the capabilities in this field. * A statement of teaching experience that may include teaching assistantships, seminars, and formal course teaching. Through the generous support of our scholarship sponsors, SSPI is making over $30,000 available for scholarships this year. Current high school seniors, college or university undergraduate students or graduate students who are studying or intend to study satellite-related technologies, policies or applications are invited to apply.Qualifications include:· Academic and leadership achievement· Commitment to pursue education and career opportunities in the satellite industry· Potential for significant contribution to the satellite communications industry· A creative research submission and personal statement

To further scientific achievement, CUSABIO decided to set up scholarship funds this year (2018) to help students majoring in biology/life sciences or related disciplines to finish their studies so that they can better develop a career in science. The total amount of scholarship funds is $3,000 this year, including two $1,000 and two $500. So there will be four winners.

JSHS is designed to challenge and engage students (Grades 9-12) in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). Individual students compete for scholarships and recognition by presenting the results of their original research efforts before a panel of judges and an audience of their peers. Opportunities for hands-on workshops, panel discussions, career exploration, research lab visits and networking are planned. By participating in regional and national symposia, students may... * Participate in a forum honoring individual achievement in STEM * Qualify for significant scholarships and other recognition * Network to enrich understanding of STEM pursuits beyond high school; * Advance in statewide, regional, national and international symposia * Develop skills to help prepare for undergraduate and graduate pursuits -- skills in the application of science content to solve a problem or to gain new knowledge, writing a paper, and communicating results.JSHS is sponsored by the research arm of the Department of Defense and administered in cooperation with nationwide colleges and universities. JSHS aims to prepare and support students to contribute as future scientists and engineers -- conducting STEM research on behalf of or directly for the Department of Defense, the Federal research laboratories, or for the greater good in advancing the nation's scientific and technological progress.

Students are encouraged to submit an essay on why they believe biotechnology will change the future of therapeutics and scientific endeavors. Essays should be no more than 250 words and include a video of 3 minutes or less detailing accomplishments and interests.

Purpose * The purpose of the award is to encourage those who have an exceptional interest in pursuing scientific research or education in geospatial science or technology or land information systems/records to enter a professional field where they can use the knowledge of this discipline to excel in their profession.Eligibility * The Scholarship is made to an under-graduate student currently enrolled or intending to enroll in a college or university in the United States for the purpose of pursuing a program of study that prepares him/her to enter a profession in which education in geospatial science or land information disciplines will advance the value of those disciplines within that profession.Award * The award consists of a certificate and a check in the amount of $1,000 and a one year student membership (new or renewal) in the Society. * Funds from the ILI have been donated to the ASPRS Foundation to support the John O. Behrens ILI memorial Scholarship in recognition of Mr. Behrens' outstanding contributions over the many years of his distinguished careerApplicationA student or prospective student who wishes to be considered for the award must submit an application form and the following items: * A listing of courses taken in land information, data management and geospatial information and technology and the academic grades received. * A transcript of all college or university level courses completed and grades received to demonstrate scholastic ability. If the applicant is a prospective enrollee in a college or university program, prior high school and post high school transcripts are required. * Two letters of recommendation from faculty members or professionals having knowledge of the applicant’s capabilities (demonstrated or potential) as a professional in a field that uses land information. * Papers, research reports, or other items produced by the applicant that may support the capabilities in this field. * A statement of work experience that may include internships, other forms of work experience, or special projects that demonstrates excellence in geospatial science, technology, land information systems/records research, and/or in communications and collaboration. The statement should include the nature, location and date(s) of the experience. * A statement, not to exceed 2 pages, detailing the applicant’s plans for continuing studies towards becoming a professional in a field that uses land and/or geospatial information as a key part of its performance.Award Selection * The Committee evaluates each application, applying equal weight to each of the items listed above. In an effort to help further the advancement of the geospatial tradecraft, USGIF is dedicated to assist promising students interested in the geospatial sciences with scholarship awards. Graduating high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students can apply. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on their academic and professional excellence in a field related to the geospatial intelligence tradecraft. Students interested in using capabilities of geospatial science, data and technologies to address human security challenges are encouraged to submit their applications. USGIF hopes to inspire students who are interested in all that GEOINT has to offer to invest their futures in this incredibly exciting and relevant field of study. The USGIF Scholarship Program has awarded $792,000 in scholarships since launching the program in 2004. The Scholarship Program is partially funded by the annual Allder Golf Classic. Named in honor of the late William R. Allder Jr., the Allder Golf Classic raises money for the USGIF Scholarship Program.
