Physical Science Scholarships

Here are some of the Physical Science scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Richard Goolsby Scholarship

Description: Provides scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students who have shown a career interest or demonstrated practical experience in the plastics industry. Minimum Eligibility: Be a full-time student in good academic standing Be majoring in or taking courses that would be beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This includes but is not limited to chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and business administration. Be a rising college sophomore, junior or senior at a four-year college or two-year technical school or A graduate of a four-year college seeking to obtain a post-secondary graduate degree.

American Plastics Council/Plastics Recycling Div.

One $5,000 award will be made annually in the name of the corporation cited as the Recycler of the Year by the Plastics Recycling Division of SPE at their annual Recycling Conference. Criteria: 1. Applicants must have a demonstrated or expressed interest in the plastics industry. 2. Applicants must be majoring in or taking courses that would be beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This would include but is not limited to plastics engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and business administration. 3. An applicant must be in good academic standing with his or her college. 4. Financial need of applicant will be considered.

James I. MacKenzie/Thermoset Division Scholarship

Applicants must have expereince in the thermoset industry, such as courses taken, research conducted or jobs held. Criteria: 1. Applicants must have a demonstrated or expressed interest in the plastics industry. 2. Applicants must be majoring in or taking courses that would be beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This would include but is not limited to plastics engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and business administration. 3. An applicant must be in good academic standing with his or her college. 4. Financial need of applicant will be considered.

Thermoforming Division/Ed Segen Memorial Schp

Thermoforming Division/Ed Segen Memorial Scholarships are available to graduate or undergraduate students in science, engineering and related disciplines who show interest in pursuing a career in the thermoforming industry. Applicants must be attending a 4-year college or graduate school that offers courses, research or related activities in thermoforming. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or better; undergraduates must have completed at least two (2) years of credits. Two $5,000 scholarships are awarded annually to graduate or undergraduate students who are pursuing a career in the plastics industry. Applicants must have experience in the thermoforming industry, such as courses taken, research conducted or jobs held. Criteria: 1. Applicants must have a demonstrated or expressed interest in the plastics industry. 2. Applicants must be majoring in or taking courses that would be beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This would include but is not limited to plastics engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and business administration. 3. An applicant must be in good academic standing with his or her college. 4. Financial need of applicant will be considered.

Extrusion Division/Lew Erwin Memorial Scholarship

One award of $2,500 is made each year to support undergraduate or graduate research in the field of polymer extrusion. Applicants ,ust be workong on a Senior or MS project which the scholarship will help support. The project must be described in writing, including background, objective, and proposed experiments. The recipients will be expected to furnish a final research summary report. Criteria: 1. Applicants must have a demonstrated or expressed interest in the plastics industry. 2. Applicants must be majoring in or taking courses that would be beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This would include but is not limited to plastics engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and business administration. 3. An applicant must be in good academic standing with his or her college. 4. Financial need of applicant will be considered.

Dr. Maurice Witten Memorial Scholarship

Preference to a student working on becoming a Physical Science teacher. Must be at least a junior or senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Elgin and Freda Denio Physical and Life Science Scholarship

Must be a resident of Kansas majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Geology or Physics.

NASA/KSGC SCholarship

A $1000 renewable scholarship for incoming freshmen majoring in Physics, Physical Science or Pre-Engineering. Application materials are available from the Physics Department.

Physics - Academic Opportunity Award

Scholarships are awarded to students in the following areas of study: Physics, Pre-Engineering, Engineering-Physics, and Physical Science Education. These awards are for incoming freshmen only with a minimum ACT of 23.

Roger & Ruth Pruitt Physics Scholarship

Preference to deserving students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Math and Science Scholarship
