Here are some of the Nursing scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Maria Dudley Advanced Scholarship

Scholarship Requirements: Must be a member of NBNA and a member of a local chapter (if one exists in your area). If a chapter does not exist within a 50-radius of your location you can join NBNA as a Direct Member. Candidate must be currently enrolled in a nursing program (B.S.N., A.D., Diploma or L.P.N./ L.V.N.) and in good scholastic standing at the time of application. Applicant must have at least one full year of school remaining. Must Provide: Official Transcript(s) from an accredited School of Nursing. Two (2) page Written Essay Two (2) letters of recommendation (one from applicant's school of nursing and one from the local chapter, or a nurse in the area if a local chapter does not exist). Letters of recommendation and essay must be attached to the application. A clean/clear professional headshot. Additional items to accompany the application in support of the candidate's eligibility and desirability may include documented evidence of: a. participation in student nurse activities and b. involvement in the African American Community, i.e., letters, news clippings, awards, certificates, etc.

Martha R. Dudley Scholarship

Dr. Martha A. Dawson Genesis Scholarship

Sheila Haley Scholarship

Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics Scholarship

NEF Scholarship - Doctoral Students

Doctoral Students: Enrolled full- OR part-time in a NLNAC or CCNE accredited program in Nursing or a nursing related field. Completed at least 12 credits of the program (at the time of application). Students going directly from a BS to a DNP must have completed 45 credits. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.6. Proof of current citizenship is required. You will be asked to upload a copy of one of the following acceptable forms of identification as proof of citizenship: The biographic page of your United States Passport. Your Birth Certificate. Your Naturalization Certificate from the USCIS. If you are in the process of becoming a United States citizen, you are eligible to apply if you can show proof of your intent. RN License Required. National professional nursing association membership - you will be asked to upload a copy of your membership card.

American Journal of Nursing Scholarship

The criteria that are given the most consideration when selecting candidates are: • Academic excellence, which is given first priority; and • Potential for contributing to the profession. To qualify for an NEF award, you must be: • A registered nurse; • A member of a professional nursing association; • Enrolled full- or part-time in a NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing Masters degree program, having completed a minimum of 12 credits (at the time of application) with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher • Enrolled full- or part-time in a doctoral program in nursing or a nursing related field, with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher; • A U.S. citizen or have declared your official intention of becoming one. NEF scholarships are given for a full academic year and are non-renewable. Completed applications, including all support material must be received in the NEF office no later than February 1. If all materials do not reach us by that date, your entire application will be declared ineligible. There is a small, non-refundable processing fee of $20 for each application. Checks should be made payable to NEF and included with your application. NEF scholarships are competitive. The number of awards and the amount of each depend upon available funds.

Evelyn J. Barclay Fund

This scholarship is given to a doctoral applicant in nursing education or research. The criteria that are given the most consideration when selecting candidates are: • Academic excellence, which is given first priority; and • Potential for contributing to the profession. To qualify for an NEF award, you must be: • A registered nurse; • A member of a professional nursing association; • Enrolled full- or part-time in a doctoral program in nursing or a nursing related field, with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher; • A U.S. citizen or have declared your official intention of becoming one. NEF scholarships are given for a full academic year and are non-renewable. Completed applications, including all support material must be received in the NEF office no later than February 1. If all materials do not reach us by that date, your entire application will be declared ineligible. There is a small, non-refundable processing fee of $20 for each application. M. Elizabeth Carnegie African American Memorial Award

In the past, Dr. Carnegie contributed to this fund each year with other donors to give a $2,000 scholarship. Former recipients often give to this fund. On her death (2008), Dr. Carnegie left $125,172.06 to NEF to be used explicitly for "black nurses enrolled in doctoral programs in memory of Dr. M. Elizabeth Carnegie." The criteria that are given the most consideration when selecting candidates are: • Academic excellence, which is given first priority; and • Potential for contributing to the profession. To qualify for an NEF award, you must be: • A registered nurse; • A member of a professional nursing association; • Enrolled full- or part-time in a doctoral program in nursing or a nursing related field, with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher; • A U.S. citizen or have declared your official intention of becoming one. Columbia University – Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Inc./J. Margaret Ada Mutch Award

An endowed scholarship fund established when the Columbia University-Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, Inc. donated $50,000 for an NEF scholarship. Preference is given to a Columbia alumnus. This scholarship honored Ms. Margaret Ada J. Mutch’s 100th birthday. The criteria that are given the most consideration when selecting candidates are: • Academic excellence, which is given first priority; and • Potential for contributing to the profession. Cynthia Davis Sculco Scholarship Fund

Initiated in 2012 with a $50,000 donation, this endowed scholarship is dedicated to doctoral study in nursing education. Cynthia Sculco is a dedicated NEF Board member who has served in many leadership capacities with NEF, including President, Vice-President, Chair of Long Term Development, and Co-Chair of Criteria and Eligibility. The criteria that are given the most consideration when selecting candidates are: • Academic excellence, which is given first priority; and • Potential for contributing to the profession. To qualify for an NEF award, you must be: • A registered nurse; • A member of a professional nursing association; • Enrolled full- or part-time in a doctoral program in nursing or a nursing related field, with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher; • A U.S. citizen or have declared your official intention of becoming one. Margaret Gould Tyson Memorial Fund

An endowed fund. Dr. Tyson was a very active NEF Board member for many years. On her death (2008), Dr. Tyson left $20,000 to this fund. Given annually to a doctoral applicant in nursing education. The criteria that are given the most consideration when selecting candidates are: • Academic excellence, which is given first priority; and • Potential for contributing to the profession.
