Nursing Scholarships

Here are some of the Nursing scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Etta Mae Scholarship (District 3)

Applicant must be enrolled/admitted to this institution. Applicant must be a member of District 3; currently enrolled in classes leading toward a baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing. Application will be considered complete when accompanied by a transcript reflecting that the applicant has completed 12 credit hours in a BSN program or 9 credits in a graduate (masters, Doctorate) nursing program and a letter from the registrar confirming current enrollment.

Eva Levitan Memorial Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to Jewish residents of Connecticut who are interested in studying at a school of nursing. Amount Awarded: $750 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to Jewish residents of Connecticut who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college program in nursing. Selection is based on academic record and community service.

Excellence of Scholarship and Consistency of Contribution to the Oncology Nursing Literature Award

To recognize and reward individuals who have consistently made contributions to the oncology nursing literature. Amount Awarded: $4000 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: Annually. Eligibility: The candidate must be an RN and member of ONS who meets all of the following criteria: has at least 5 years of experience in oncology nursing and 5 years of membership in ONS; demonstrates longevity and consistency of oncology-related professional communications; demonstrates breadth of professional writing; demonstrates appropriate depth of written material; demonstrates evidence of mentorship for colleagues engaged in writing professional materials; and writes materials that are used and cited by other authors.

Dean Hayden Student Research Scholarship

This research scholarship is open to students meeting the following criteria: 1) Nurse anesthesia student in good academic standing, 2) Member of the AANA. The Dean Hayden Student Research Scholarship is awarded up to $5,000. Criteria for Selection: 1) Nurse anesthesia student in good academic standing 2) Member of the AANA 3) Program Administrator or Research Advisor’s letter of support 4) Anticipated value of your research findings for nurse anesthetists The above criteria should be addressed by submitting: 1) Completed abstract 2) Anticipated value of your research findings for nurse anesthetists 3) Copy of institutional investigation committee/review board approval or exemption 4) Program Administrator or Research Advisor’s letter of support 5) Budget with justifications for expenses Please check the website for more information.

FADONA/LTC Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to individuals employed in long-term care in Florida who are interested in continuing their education. Amount Awarded: $500 Number Awarded: 1 or more each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to currently licensed RN's, LPN's, or CNA's employed in the long-term care industry in Florida. RN's must be currently accepted or enrolled in a baccalaureate or master's degree program in nursing, gerontology program, undergraduate or graduate program in health care management, or nurse practitioner program. LPN's must be currently accepted or enrolled in an RN program or undergraduate health care management program. CNA's must be currently accepted or enrolled in an RN or LPN program. All applicants must have at least 2 years of employment in the long-term care field. They must be either a member FADONA/LTC or sponsored by a member. Financial need is not considered in the selection process.

Fitzgerald Health Education Associates MSN-NP Student Research Grant

To provide funding to members of AANP who wish to conduct research for a master's degree project. Amount Awarded: $1000 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to current student and full members of the academy who are pursuing a Master's degree and working on their master's level NP research. Applicants must be the principal investigator on a research project that is to be used for their degree program. Their GPA in their master's program must be 3.2 or higher. The research must have an outcomes-based primary care focus relevant to health care provided by NPs within the United States. Additional Information: There is a $10 application fee. Research on health care.

FNSNA Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled at a state-approved school of nursing or pre-nursing in an associate degree,baccalaureate, diploma, generic doctorate, or generic master's program. Award cannot be used for graduate education, unless it leads to a first degree in nursing. Selection is based upon academic achievement, financial need, and involvement in student nursing organizations and community service related to health care. Applicant will automatically be considered for any specialty scholarships for which he or she is eligible. Duration: All years.

Frances Tompkins Scholarship Program for People of Color-For Nursing Students

Offers special scholarships for nursing or pre-nursing students of color.

Frank Sherman Scholarship

Awarded to student enrolled in a nursing program who demonstrate financial need, have maintained a 3.0 GPA (2.0 for practical nursing), and have demonstrated clinical proficiency, enthusiasm, and motivation in their studies of nursing. Preference will be given to students who are full-time and in the latter half of their nursing program. Preference will be given to Rhode Island residents enrolled in a Rhode Island nursing program. Application Procedure: The applicant must submit an essay and a cover letter that includes her/his name, address, telephone number, email address, nursing program, and expected date of graduation. The essay is to be a short, two to three paragraph essay about the reason(s) why the scholarship is needed to complete the nursing program. One (1) copy of the student’s transcript must be included by applicant and mailed with the cover letter. Two (2) letters of recommendation with one (1) from a nursing faculty member must be mailed by individuals writing the recommendations, postmarked by June 1st, to the address below. Frank Blanchard Scholarships

To provide financial assistance to members of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists who are residents of New Hampshire or pursuing further education at a program in designated states. Amount Awarded: $1000 Number Awarded: 2 each year. Duration: 1 academic year. Eligibility: This program is open to members of the association who are either 1) residents of New Hampshire, or 2) attending a nurse anesthesia program in CT, ME, MA, NH, NY, RI, or VT. Students in nurse anesthesia education programs must hold a current license as a registered nurse and a bachelor of science in nursing or another appropriate baccalaureate degree from an approved nursing program. Selection is based on academic achievement, participation in student organizations, and involvement in school and community activities. Additional Information: Funding for this program is provided by the New Hampshire Association of Nurse Anesthetists. The application fee is $25.

AfterCollege/AACN $10,000 Scholarship Fund

The AfterCollege-AACN Scholarship Fund supports students who are seeking a baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degree in nursing. Special consideration will be given to students in a graduate program with the goal of becoming a nurse educator; students completing an RN-to-BSN or RN-to-MSN program; and those enrolled in an accelerated program. Scholarship recipients will be chosen by the AACN, will be announced within one month of each deadline and contacted to redeem the award. Additional requirements: • Student must have an AfterCollege profile (registration and all services are free to students) • Must be a full-time student at the time of the scholarship deadline. • Must already be enrolled (not just accepted) at an AACN member institution.

Michael J. Latta EMS scholarship Fund

Carrying Forward his Dream Mike passed away on April 26, 2007 at the age of 21. He had many dreams and aspirations he was unable to carry out. Mike’s biggest dreams were to become a paramedic as well as an EMT instructor, which he had already begun to do. In Mike’s short life he touched and inspired many people through his perseverance, vision, dedication and intense work ethic. To carry forward his dream of educating others in the field of Emergency Medical Services, the Michael J. EMS Scholarship Foundation was established to provide monetary support for those wishing to become an EMT or paramedic. In this way, Michael can continue his goal of helping others even after his death. Mission Statement To support Emergency Medical Services by finding intelligent, hardworking, and dedicated individuals who have the energy and enthusiasm for their work as well as a drive for continuing their education. Foundation Objectives 1.) Grant scholarships each year to individuals emulating Michael’s character traits of work ethic, dedication, energy, and enthusiasm, who wish to attend school to become Paramedics. 2.) Raise funds to support these scholarships through events that bring recognition to the field of Emergency Medical Services as well as bringing the community together.
