Music Scholarships
Here are some of the Music scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.
Rainbow City Band Scholarship
For students pursuing degrees in music or music education.
Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they:
currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or
have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or
have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline.
LGBTQ Community Involvement:
Preference is given to students who are self-identified LGBTQ, members of LGBTQ families, or straight allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBTQ community. All scholarships emphasize demonstrated commitment to equality and civil rights for all people.
Thomas H. Miller Awards
Spouses, dependent children, and grandchildren of blinded veterans are eligible for the annual Thomas H. Miller Awards to assist them with their higher education tuition. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit through an application process that is evaluated by a committee. Miller scholarships are for one year only but recipients can re-apply and receive the award up to four times. The blinded veteran family member is not required to be a BVA member for the spouse or child to receive a scholarship. Emphasis on music and fine arts for the Miller award.
Catherine W. Pierce Scholarship
Catherine W. Pierce scholarship was established to support students who are majoring in disciplines within the Arts and/or History. Mrs. Pierce had a great interest in helping deserving students pursue the fields of Art or History. The award amount is up to $5,000.
To be eligible for this scholarship students must:
- Be enrolled full-time at a U.S. accredited 4 year institution
- Have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Be pursuing a degree in an Art or History discipline (see eligible majors)

The NFMC Gretchen E. Van Roy Music Education Scholarship
A college junior majoring in Music Education at a college or university which has a Music Education Department offering a degree in same.

Award Amount: $1,150 (Funded by the Gretchen E. Van Roy Endowment)
The NFMC Myrtle Mehan/Hazel Morgan Music Education Scholarship
A college Sophomore majoring in Music Education at a college or university which has a Music Education Department offering a degree in same.
Entry Fee: $5
Award Amount: $500 (Funded by the Myrtle Mehan and Hazel Morgan Legacies)
The Irma Carey-Wilson Music Therapy Scholarship
Award Amount: $275 for further study (paid to approved school of recipient’s choice)
Eligibility: College juniors, seniors or graduate students already enrolled in accredited schools approved by the American Music Therapy Association.
Requirements: US citizenship; membership in National Federation of Music Clubs; need for financial
assistance to pursue this specialized education; personal observation of use of music as therapy in treatment or
rehabilitation of patients in hospital or institution employing a music therapist. The scholarship must be used
at an educational institution offering the music therapy degree or for a music therapy internship at an
education or health facility.
Qualifications to be considered:
Well-rounded musical talent, skills, and training, on the applicant’s principal instrument as well as the piano, guitar, and coerce.
Emotional stability, self-reliance, patience, tact, leadership, intelligence, good health, interest in using music to help/aid others, dedication to music therapy as a career.
Demonstration with the music therapy curriculum, and the internship, of growth in the effective application of music and music therapy techniques with client populations.
Ruth B. Robertson Scholarship
Eligibility: College sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate students already enrolled in accredited schools approved by the American Music Therapy Association.
Requirements: US citizenship; membership in National Federation of Music Clubs; need for financial
assistance to pursue this specialized education; personal observation of use of music as therapy in treatment or
rehabilitation of patients in hospital or institution employing a music therapist. The scholarship must be used
at an educational institution offering the music therapy degree or for a music therapy internship at an
education or health facility.

Requirements: US citizenship; membership in National Federation of Music Clubs; need for financial assistance to pursue this specialized education; personal observation of use of music as therapy in treatment or rehabilitation of patients in hospital or institution employing a music therapist. The scholarship must be used at an educational institution offering the music therapy degree or for a music therapy internship at an education or health facility.

Must be a Sophomore attending Miami University.

Sing Canada Harmony Scholarship
Music Students
Eligibility: Open to any member of an organized choral music program.
Criteria: Active, current membership in a recognized choral program; preference will be given to new applicants, demonstrating the ability to transfer experience and knowledge gained to other members of their choral group.
Award: To provide for individual vocal training
AGBU - Performing Arts Fellowship (study in all countries except UK)
AGBU offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students of Armenian descent worldwide (excluding citizens of Armenia studying in Armenia) who are pursuing studies in the field of performing arts (music, drama, and film). Applicants must be enrolled in full-time degree programs at highly selective conservatories or colleges/universities worldwide (except the UK; please see below for more information) and have a GPA of 3.5 and above as measured by the American grading system scale.
Grants are awarded annually in the range of $2,500-$7,500 USD, and applicants may apply for renewal for up to three (3) years toward conservatory/college/university education expenses.
Performing Arts students pursuing study in the UK are not eligible for this scholarship; these students should apply for an AGBU Performing Arts Fellowship (study in the UK).
AGBU - Performing Arts Fellowship (study in UK)
AGBU offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students of Armenian descent worldwide (excluding citizens of Armenia studying in Armenia) who are pursuing studies in the field of performing arts (music, drama, and film). Applicants must be enrolled in full-time degree programs at highly selective conservatories or colleges/universities in the United Kingdom and have a GPA of 3.5 and above as measured by the American grading system scale. Grants are awarded annually in the range of up to £3,000 GBP, and applicants may apply for renewal for up to three (3) years toward conservatory/college/university education expenses.
Performing Arts students pursuing study outside of the UK are not eligible for this scholarship; these students should apply for an AGBU Performing Arts Fellowship (study in all countries except the UK).
