The candidates are eligible to receive a scholarship in the amount of $10,230. The undergraduate candidates must have at least a 3.0 GPA scholarship while the graduate students must have at least a 3.2 GPA. Interns, with the exception of 1st year law school students, earn a scholarship up to $15,000 while 1st year law students earn a premium internship pay. Selected students participate in an 8-10 week summer internship at Pfizer corporate facilities and are eligible to receive scholarship funding. Students will work with a best-in-class pharmaceutical company in a range of key business and research areas. Past President Scholarship

PurposeThe purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in welding engineering, welding engineering technology, or an engineering program with an emphasis on welding (bonding and joining included), or be a graduate student pursuing a Masters or Doctorate in engineering and/or management.EligibilityThe Past Presidents Scholarship will be awarded to a college junior or senior pursuing a bachelors degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, or an engineering program with an emphasis on welding (bonding and joining included), or be a graduate student pursuing a Masters or Doctorate in engineering and/or management. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. * A college student must be a junior, senior, or Graduate level (Masters or Ph.D). * An undergraduate student must be pursuing a bachelors degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, or an engineering program with emphasis on welding (includes bonding and joining). * A graduate student, with a bachelors degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology, must be pursuing a Masters or Doctorate in engineering and/or management. * Applicant must have demonstrated leadership qualities, i.e., community involvement, AWS Section or other professional society participation, industry leadership, and be an AWS Member. * One or more recommendation letters must come from community members, local AWS Section Officers, and/or AWS District Directors, attesting to leadership capability. * One or more recommendation letters must come from Faculty (if a student), or from Employer (if employed). * Applicant must submit a 300-500 word essay on his/her objectives/aspirations in the field of welding. * Applicant must demonstrate financial need. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide.SelectionThe recipient will be chosen by a sub-committee of the Education Scholarship Committee.AwardsOne award of $2,500 paid to the recipient’s college or university. Awards are for tuition and books only.

National Aviation Explorer Scholarships

National Aviation Exploring Committee awards General Aviation scholarships to recognize excellence among Aviation Explorers studying the technologies and the skills needed in the field of aviation. The sponsors that provide the scholarships are committed to aviation’s future leadership. Applicant’s description of their personal record should show that they can successfully complete the aviation career educational activity for which they are requesting the scholarship. Also their personal record should show their involvement in life skills, citizenship, leadership, and character education experiences that add to the quality of life. Deadlines: Aviation Explorer applications are due in the local council office for approval by March 31st of each year. Council approved aviation Explorer applications are due in the National LFL Office by May 1st of each year. Scholarships will be awarded each year by July 1st Qualifications 1. Currently registered and active in an aviation Explorer post 2. Parent or guardian approval if under 18 years of age 3. Three letters of recommendation (i.e. aviation post Advisor, aviation professional, teacher, employer, community leader, etc.) 4. 500 word educational plan showing how you are going to finance your goal for a career in aviation. Degree Leading to an Aviation Profession (Scholarship value $10,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer accepted or attending an accredited college or university in pursuit of a degree leading to an aviation profession. Provide a copy of your high school or college transcript. Avionics (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer high school seniors or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics repair program. Pilot (Pilot Certificate) (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer pursuing their recreational or private pilot certificate (any type aircraft) and are not restricted to those pursuing a career in aviation. Flight training must be completed within one year. Candidates are judged on the strength of their essay stating their plan for a career in aviation, evidence of satisfactory initial flight training, and performance history in education and/or work, volunteerism, financial need. Maintenance (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer high school seniors or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an aircraft repair program. Management (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer student in an aviation management program (to include design, engineering, airport management, etc.) at an accredited college or university.
