Here are some of the Health Care scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

APIASF/United Health Foundation Scholarship

Minimum Eligibility Criteria Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply Be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university in the Fall. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) or have earned a GED Must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15 Submit one letter of recommendation online. Plan to pursue a degree that will lead to a career in the health field. Scholarship recipients must be majoring in a health field to receive renewal scholarships Demonstrate the intent to work in an underserved community Preference for students fluent in an Asian or Pacific Islander language Students must reside in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, KS, MN, NC, NM, NV, NY, TN, TX, WA or WI Preference for students who intend to transfer from a 2-year to a 4-year institution Enrolling as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the upcoming academic year

Vazquez Pride in Health Scholarship

For students pursuing advanced health care degrees (medicine, public health, and/or community health) with preference given to LGBTQ students of color, students who are Transgender/Gender Queer, or students who are from rural areas or plan to practice in rural communities. Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they: currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline. LGBTQ Community Involvement: Preference is given to students who are self-identified LGBTQ, members of LGBTQ families, or straight allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBTQ community. All scholarships emphasize demonstrated commitment to equality and civil rights for all people.

The American Indian Nurse Scholarship Awards

Since 1928 The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America has provided a small number of scholarship awards to assist students of American Indian heritage who are pursuing degrees in nursing or in the field of health care and health education. Eligible students receive $1,500 per semester and the money is to be used strictly for tuition, books or fees applicable to the student’s approved program. The grant is sent to the school and credited to the student’s account. Once a student is accepted, he or she may re-apply for continued funds each semester as long as the student remains in academic good standing. To be eligible for a scholarship, the candidate must be:  1/4 American Indian, enrolled in a tribe. If not enrolled, the student will be considered if he or she can prove direct tribal ancestry.  A high school graduate or have equivalent education  Enrolled in an accredited school  Enrolled in the nursing program, having achieved good scholastic standing in pre-nursing; or, enrolled in a health care or health education program  Expected to graduate two years after enrollment if in an Associate Degree program  Expected to graduate in four years if pursuing a B.S.  Post graduate students are also eligible  Maintaining the scholastic average required by the school  Recommended by their counselor, teacher or other school official  In need of financial assistance  Not receiving an Indian Health Service Scholarship  Should have a career goal directly related to the needs of the Indian people

Go Red Multicultural Scholarship Fund

Macy’s and the American Heart Association are continuing their concerted efforts to increase the number of minority women in medical schools through the Go Red™ Multicultural Scholarship Fund. For the fourth consecutive year, the partners are offering sixteen $2,500 tuition-focused scholarships for minority women pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in healthcare fields. OMAP’s 100 Word Essay Health Care Scholarship

OMAP (OnlineMedicalAssistantPrograms.net) is now offering our 100 word essay scholarship for all current and prospective students pursuing a career in the health care field. The scholarship disbursement amount is $500 x 4, for a total of $2000. Four unique winners will be selected yearly to receive a one-time payment of $500. Essay Instructions Please explain why you should be considered for our scholarship, using the following criteria: Minimum of 100 words, maximum of 200 words All essays should be written in English using correct grammar and punctuation All personal information needs to be accurate and truthful Pictures, audio, and video are accepted as part of the submission How Much Are We Giving Away? We are currently offering $2000 in scholarship funds per year. The money will be divided between four lucky students, and dispersed four separate times per year on select dates (see deadline instructions below). Each winner will receive $500 in scholarship money. What are the Deadlines? If you missed the last deadline, don’t worry! We offer 4 scholarships per year to different individuals. Be sure to get your applications in before the next deadline! Nursing Education Scholarship

TravelNursing.org is happy to provide scholarships for qualifying applicants who are applying to a medical related field or who are currently pursuing further education in the fields of nursing and medicine. Interested applicants are invited to submit an essay of 500-1000 words explaining what it is they hope to accomplish during their career in the medical field. Applicants and potential scholarship winners will be critiqued by the editorial staff at TravelNursing.org and selected annually on February 10th. Applications for this year’s award are due by January 10th. Travel Nursing Scholarship Applications are welcomed from anybody who meets the application requirements. If you are currently enrolled in a medical program or have been accepted by a program but not yet started, you are eligible to apply for the scholastic award. Application Process Applicant shall submit all contact information as contained within the application, including name, address, phone number, email, date of birth and sex. Applicant shall submit proof of age. A photocopy of a driver’s license or other valid ID is acceptable. Applicant shall submit proof of enrollment or acceptance to an accredited institution of learning. A photocopy of transcripts or acceptance letter is acceptable. Applicant shall submit an essay of at least 500 words but no more than 1000 words that explain what they hope to accomplish in the medical field and how they will impact the lives of others with the education and knowledge they acquire while in medical training. Essay will also include the student’s opinion of why they feel they should be selected to receive the scholarship funds. Selection Applications will be reviewed by a panel and winner selected based on criteria set forth in the requirements section of this document. Once the winner is decided and notified of the award, he/she will receive a mailed 1099-MISC tax form and the check will be delivered to their address. The winner of the scholarship award will be fully responsible for the taxes incurred from receiving the award.

Next Nursing Leaders Scholarship

TravelNursing.org is happy to provide scholarships in support of those seeking a career in nursing. Each year, a prospective or current college student will be selected to receive a $1000 scholarship to help with the costs associated with attending school. Details We will award a $500 scholarship to the applicant chosen. Must be at least 18 years old. Applicant must be currently attending a college or university, or will be attending in the fall. Armenian American Medical Society Scholarship

George Hi`ilani Mills Scholarship

GRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY  Graduate student pursuing professional studies in the field of medicine or the allied health-related fields  Demonstrate financial need  One-page essay demonstrating applicant’s balanced record of achievement, as well as holding the values and tradition of the Hawaiian Civic Club movement to perpetuate and preserve language, history, music, dance and other cultural traditions as well as advocate for improved welfare of native Hawaiians in culture, health, economic development, education, social welfare, and nationhood, to name a few.  Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Applications are open to the general public. However, it is the policy of the Pauahi Foundation to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.

Gilbert Matching Student Grant Program

The Massachusetts Gilbert Matching Student Grant Program (GMSGP) makes funds available to participating Massachusetts' institutions of higher education and schools of nursing. At least one hundred percent of such funds must be used for direct financial assistance to needy Massachusetts's undergraduate students to enable them to attend or continue to attend such institutions. Who Is Eligible? To be eligible for a Massachusetts Gilbert Grant, a student must: Be a dependent student who is a permanent legal resident of Massachusetts and whose source of support is a parent who has been a permanent resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the twelve months prior to the opening of the academic year; or an independent student who has been a permanent resident of the Commonwealth for the twelve months immediately preceding the opening of the academic year. Be a United States citizen or an eligible non citizen. Not have earned a bachelor's or professional degree or their equivalent. Not be in default of a Federal or state education loan or owe a refund on any previously received financial aid. Demonstrate financial aid need according to program guidelines. Be maintaining satisfactory academic progress according to institutional and Federal standards. Be in compliance with applicable laws regarding Selective Service Registration. Be enrolled full-time. Not have earned a first diploma from a hospital or professional nursing program. Eligible Institutions An eligible institution shall mean an institution of higher education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts which: Admits as regular students only persons having a certificate of graduation from a school providing secondary education or the recognized equivalent of such a certification, and Is legally authorized within the Commonwealth to provide a program of post-secondary education, and Provides an education for which it awards an associate or bachelors degree and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, or Provides an education which results in an award of a diploma indicating satisfactory completion of a hospital school or professional nursing program which is accredited by the National League of Nursing, and is approved by the State Board of Registration in Nursing Is not a public institution of higher education operated by the Commonwealth or its subdivisions and does not derive the major portion of its annual budget from state or local appropriations, and Does not have as its primary purpose education for religious purposes.
