Engineering Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to women engineering students entering their sophomore year who are U.S. citizens. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0/4.0 or above.

Established in 1983 to encourage a sophomore woman pursuing an engineering degree. It is limited to a SWE student member and U.S. citizen. All SWE scholarships are open only to women majoring in engineering or computer science in a college or university with an ABET-accredited program or in a SWE-approved school, and who will be in a specified year of study during the academic year the grant payment is made. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5/4.0 or above.

Two $5,000 awards, renewable each year, are given to minority college sophomore students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership skills, and a commitment to a career in business or engineering. A 3.0 GPA is required for renewal.

1.(a) Any student who is in the last year of secondary school (public, private, parochial) in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Wake and Midway Islands and the Marianas, and (b) Any American student in the last year of secondary school attending (i) a Department of Defense Dependents School or an accredited overseas American or International School, (ii) a foreign school as an exchange student, or (iii) a foreign school because his/her parent(s) work and live abroad who is expected to complete college entrance qualifications before October 1 in the year in which the awards are made and who has not competed in any previous Science Talent Search. The selection is based on the following criteria: - A written report on an independent research project. - A Personal Data Blank and secondary school record. - The secondary school record must include available national test scores. Sons and daughters of Science Service employees, Science Talent Search Evaluators or Judges are not eligible for the competition.

NASF's educational foundation remains committed to helping undergraduate and graduate students interested in studying chemical engineering, material science or engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, environmental engineering or chemistry. Scholarships to college juniors, seniors and graduate students are offered in the amount of $1,500. Candidates must demonstrate academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities. Is there a minimum GPA requirement? Yes, for undergraduate applicant, GPA should be 3.0 or above; for graduate applicant, GPA should be 3.3 or above.

Undergraduate scholarships will be awarded as follows: a maximum of four scholarships for students who have completed one year in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field and who will be sophomores in the upcoming academic year; and a maximum of 21 scholarships for students who have completed two or more years and will be entering as juniors or seniors. The eligibility requirements are as follows: You must be at least an entering sophomore enrolled in a program leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering or a nuclear related field. You must be an ANS student member (U.S. or non-U.S. citizen) attending a qualified university in the United States. For Undergraduate scholarships the completed application with a grade transcript, and three confidential reference forms must be received by February 1. Note that one request and one application covers all of the undergraduate scholarships. Remember to check the appropriate boxes on the application form.

ANS awards the following undergraduate scholarships for students who have completed two or more years in a course of study leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear related field.

The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program (WU Scholars) is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue a post-secondary education. Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition or school fees at an accredited post-secondary institution and will be selected based on criteria relating to the program's three pillars: Perseverance, Aspiration, and Community. To be eligible, students must be seeking an undergraduate degree in one of the following categories: science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business/entrepreneurship. The application, which requires a letter of recommendation and an academic transcript, opens Wednesday March 8th. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 12 at noon Eastern Standard Time. To be considered for an IMGIP Fellowship, an applicant must be: (1) a citizen or permanent resident of the United States; (2) an African American, Hispanic, or Native American; (3) the recipient of an earned baccalaureate degree; and, (4) accepted for admission to a doctoral program in the fields of life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics. Each recipient is awarded an annual stipend of $13,500; an allowance of $1,500 for books, supplies, equipment and travel; and an institutional scholarship that will cover tuition and fees. The Award is renewable for up to a maximum of three (3) years. Upon completion of the degree, and acceptance of appropriate employment, recipients are eligible to receive a $15,000 placement incentive. Award recipients must be enrolled for graduate study during each semester the Award is held and be registered for a minimum of nine (9) credit hours for Fall and Spring, and three (3) for Summer. While on an IMGIP Award, students may not hold other appointments either inside or outside the University. Also, upon degree completion, awardees must agree to seek and accept a full-time faculty appointment at an Illinois institution of higher learning for a period equal to the number of years of the Award. Recipients failing to fulfill the conditions of the Award are required to repay twenty (20) percent of the total Award.

Awarded to members of AISES who are American Indian/Alaskan Native college students. Students must be pursuing academic programs in the sciences, engineering, natural resources. The awards are $1,000 and $2,000 for undergraduates and graduates, respectively. Requirements: 1. Applicant must be a student member of AISES. 2. Applicant must be at least 1/4 American Indian/Alaskan Native and/or recognized as a member by a tribe. 3. Applicant must major in one of the disciplines listed above. 4. Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate (12 hours/semester or quarter) or graduate (9 hour/semester or quarter) student at an accredited four year college/university of full-time student at a two-year college enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree. 5. Must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average, minimum.

Requirements: 1) Must be a full time undergraduate at accredited four year college/university or full time student at a two year college enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree; 2) Must be majoring either in science or engineering and have demonstrated outstanding interest and skill in any one of the arts; 3) Must demonstrate a commitment to serving the community or other tribal nations; 4) Must American Indian or Alaska Native, and must provide proof of tribal enrollment; 5) Must demonstrate financial need.

This program is designed to support minority student participants with a scholarship and an engineering-related summer job during each year of participation. This program exists at Georgia Institute of Technology, Tuskegee University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, The College of Wooster, University of Michigan, North Carolina State University, Rowan College, and the University of Delaware. Participants must be enrolled in engineering at one of these institutions. Additionally, they must be recommended for consideration by their dean of engineering after completing at least one semester of college. Accordingly, it is not open to general application.
