Electrical Engineering Scholarships

To be eligible for a scholarship from the Nancy Lorraine Jensen Memorial Scholarship Fund: a) The applicant must be an American citizen not younger than 17 and not older than 35 on the date that the scholarship application is submitted. b) The applicant must be a female member or the daughter or granddaughter of a member of Sons of Norway, provided that such membership shall have been of at least three years duration on the date the application is submitted. c) THE APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME UNDERGRADUATE WHO HAS COMPLETED AT LEAST ONE TERM (QUARTER, SEMESTER) OF HER STUDIES AFTER BEING ACCEPTED AS A MAJOR EITHER IN CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS OR IN CHEMICAL, ELECTRICAL OR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. THE GRANT IS INTENDED TO BE USED FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDY. d) The applicant must have attained a SAT score of at least 1800, a math score of 600 or better, or an ACT score of at least 26. HOW ARE THE WINNERS SELECTED? Final selection of the scholarship winners will be made by the Sons of Norway Foundation Scholarship Committee. The criteria for selection are: a) long-term career goals and clarity of study plan b) academic potential and evidence of ability to succeed c) letters of recommendation giving specific evidence of good character, eagerness and earnestness and ambition in the field of science and engineering. Note: Previous holding of the Nancy Lorraine Jensen Memorial Scholarship gives priority to the applicant. Please include all items from the checklist in one envelope. The AFCEA Scholarship for Working Professionals will provide $1,500 to those students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree while employed in the science or technology disciplines directly related to the mission of AFCEA. Undergraduate candidates must be at least second-year students attending an accredited college or university in the United States. Graduate students must have completed at least two postgraduate-level classes prior to the deadline date. The scholarship is intended for students attending school on a part-time basis, whether at a two-year community college or accredited university institution. Part-time status will be defined as enrollment in at least two classes per semester with a declared major in a science or technology degree program. Students enrolled in online or distance-learning programs will be eligible, as long as all other criteria are met. Eligible students must also be currently employed (see above). Eligibility: Candidate must be a U.S. citizen, attending an accredited college or university in the United States as either a traditional or distance-learning student, and majoring in electrical, chemical, systems or aerospace engineering; mathematics; physics; technical management; computer information systems; computer science or related fields. Undergraduate applications will be accepted from sophomore, junior and senior students - minimum second-year students please. An overall GPA of 3.4 is required. Graduate applications will be accepted from students who have completed at least two postgraduate-level courses and are enrolled in an eligible degree-granting master's degree program. Fellowships of $15,000 will be awarded to full-time postgraduate students who have earned Master's degrees or the equivalent and who are currently enrolled in a doctoral degree program in the following or related fields of electrical, electronics, chemical, systems or communications engineering; physics; mathematics; or computer science. Majors directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible. The dissertation title or abstract of the specific area of research is required. Important: Candidates must be a U.S. citizen with earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees (or their equivalents) and be currently enrolled in a doctoral program at any accredited university in the United States. A thesis statement or abstract of the intended area and nature of research is required. Primary consideration will be given for demonstrated excellence of the research topic. Please note: Endorsement by the Dean of the College of Engineering is required, regardless of major. The AFCEA Ph.D. Fellowship seeks to reward excellence for demonstrated effort at the doctoral level of study, rather than the potential for such excellence. The Honor Certificate Award Program is designed to recognize ROTC cadet and midshipman achievement in leadership and academics. The award includes a framed parchment certificate with the honoree's name prominently inscribed and a ribbon bar. This program is separate and distinct from the AFCEA Scholarship Program, but an ROTC student may apply for and receive both. Recipients of the awards will be selected by individual Professors of Military Science, Naval Science, or Aerospace Studies in accordance with the appropriate Service Department Regulation. Each interested ROTC unit may make one Honor Award nomination annually. The Army, Navy/Marine Corps and Air Force ROTC units at an institution may each submit one nomination. Eligibility: Students receiving the ROTC Honor Certificate Award must be U.S. citizens and juniors preparing to enter their senior year (rising seniors) who are majoring in electronics, electrical, aerospace, or communications engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or technology, information management systems or related technical disciplines. Scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to ROTC students majoring in the following or C4I-related fields of electrical, computer, chemical, systems or aerospace engineering; electronics; computer science; physics; mathematics; science or mathematics education; technology management; or other technical fields at accredited degree-granting four-year colleges or universities in the United States. Majors directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence or national security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible. Candidates must be at least second-year college students, enrolled full time as sophomores or juniors at the time of application. Eligibility: Candidates must be nominated by the Professor of Military Science, Naval Science, Aerospace Studies or designated Commanding Officer as appropriate. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen enrolled in ROTC, have good moral character, demonstrate academic excellence, exhibit the potential to serve as an officer in the U.S. Armed Forces, and have a financial need. In addition, applicants must provide two Letters of Recommendation from faculty in their field of study. An official transcript including all college-level study as well as courses in progress is also required. The Dr. Jon L. Boyes, VADM, USN (Ret.) Memorial Scholarship has been established to honor Vice Admiral Boyes' memory and accomplishments. Vice Admiral Boyes served as president of AFCEA International for ten years, during which time he established the AFCEA Educational Foundation. A $3,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to one competitively selected and deserving Naval ROTC midshipman. Candidates must be at least second-year college students, enrolled full time as sophomores or juniors at the time of application. The scholarship has been endowed in perpetuity through the generosity of AFCEA International. Eligibility: The scholarship will recognize a Navy ROTC midshipman or Officer Candidate majoring in electrical engineering. PLEASE NOTE: The recipient will be selected by the ROTC Selection Committee from the qualified applicants for the AFCEA ROTC Scholarship. Awarded once per renewal cycle. 1 @ $7,000 Renewable 5 yr. max. Open to Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, Senior students. All Engineering majors. A few main eligibility points: Only women are eligible. You must be planning to study an ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology, or computing in the upcoming academic year. You must be planning to attend full time (exceptions are made for reentry and non-traditional applicants). You must not be fully funded for tuition, fees, and books and equivalent.

The J.H. Fletcher & Co. Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students pursuing an undergraduate degree in mining or minerals engineering, with a desire to use their skills to apply technology to improve safety and productivity in underground mining. Students pursuing degrees in mechanical or electrical engineering may also be considered if they are minoring in Mining Engineering or show a strong desire for a career in the underground mining industry. Fletcher Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. 2. Be an SME student member in good standing. 3. Attend a school that is ABET accredited and/or has an SME Student Chapter. 4. Demonstrate a desire for and a probability of success in a career in underground mining. Purpose To provide an incentive to engineering undergraduate students enrolled in ABET accredited engineering programs to choose nondestructive testing and evaluation as their field of specialization. The Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship is a monetary award. Eligibility Undergraduate students enrolled in an engineering program of an ABET accredited university at the time the application is submitted for this scholarship. Each potential candidate for this award must show their anticipated graduation date to be later that the date the award funds are to be distributed. Each potential candidate must also show an active interest in the field of nondestructive testing and evaluation. Method of Selection The University Programs Committee selects up to three $3,000 scholarships each year, pending merit and number of submissions. Objectives Administered by the AIST Ohio Valley Member Chapter, available to students who are dependents of Ohio Valley Member Chapter members or to student members pursuing an education in engineering, metallurgy, physical science, computer technology or an engineering technology field.Awards – One or two US$1000 scholarships will be awarded. The scholarships are renewable for a total scholarship of four years at $1,000 per year.Eligibility – The student must be the child (including step-children, adopted children or wards) of a member in good standing of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the AIST or a Student member in good standing. The student must be accepted into, planning to attend, or currently enrolled in an eligible, full-time curriculum at an accredited university or college. Degrees eligible for the AIST scholarship include: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering / Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering / Sciences, Metallurgy, Physical Sciences, Computer Technology, Computer Programming, Information Systems Technology, Chemistry, Biology / Microbiology, Physics, Other Engineering-Related fields, or other related fields approved by the committee.
