Dance Scholarships

Here are some of the Dance scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Deloris Carter Hampton Scholarship

For women of color who have a demonstrated history of activism and/or leadership in the LGBT community and are pursuing a degree in education, women’s health, or dance.

NAC Scholarships

The Nantucket Arts Council provides scholarships to those year-round Nantucket residents who are graduating high school seniors and who wish to continue their education in the arts at the college level.The Council will support study in the fields of music, dance, literature, drama, and the visual arts. Scholarships will be awarded to students attending accredited institutions and who are majoring in the arts.The scholarships will be awarded based upon the merits of the candidate, recommendations, interviews, and examples of candidates work.

Sarah Grace & Emma Louise Anderson Memorial Dance Scholarship

(1 or more scholarships, approximately $1,068 maximum.)Established in memory of sisters Sarah and Emma by family, friends, and community.Eligibility: For students from the Marshfield area. Scholarships may be awarded in one of three categories: 1) Tuition for students with financial need enrolling in beginning dance classes; 2) Fees or tuition for older or more advanced students to attend dance camps or other dance instruction or performance opportunities; 3) Post-secondary scholarships for students with an expressed intention of pursuing dance in some form (performing, teaching, studying.)Application: Applications are available from the MarshfieldArea Community Foundation. A special scholarship committeewill review applications.Deadline: Open-ended. Inquire at the MACF office to determineif scholarship funds are currently available.

Arts Scholarship Program

The Arts Scholarship Fund, founded in 1999, awards scholarships to high school students who demonstrate an interest in pursuing an education and/or career in any of the various fields of the arts including the performance of music, drama, dance, and the creativity of visual art such as fine art and graphic design. Award Amount: $1,000 Max. Projected # of Awards: 1 - 2

Share Your Talent Scholarship

Whether it’s playing an instrument, a physical talent, or any other special skill you have, we want to hear how it’s progressed throughout your life. We want to know who has helped you grow your skills and encouraged you to keep working on your ability. Tell us about how you’ve pushed yourself to get better and why. A $500 tuition scholarship will be awarded once a year to the winning submission.

Frost Family Scholarship

The Frost Award was established by Mark and Lynn Frost. Mr. Frost is the author of “The Greatest Game Ever Played” and alsowrote the screenplay for and co-produced the movie that was released by Disney Studios in 2005. The Frost Award is for Ouimet Scholars who are studying art, dance, theatre, film or related studies. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are "need-based" and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.

Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship - Undergraduate Students

Criteria for Application: 1. Applicant must be a current member of SHAPE America. Undergraduate students may join at the time of application. 2. Applicant must be majoring in the field of health, physical education, recreation or dance. 3. Applicant must have college junior or senior class standing at a baccalaureate-granting college/university (completed a minimum of 60 semester/90 quarter units of college courses). 4. Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 overall on a 4.0 grade point scale. GPA scores from all institutions attended in pursuit of applicant's current degree must be factored into the overall GPA. 5. Applicant must be a first time Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship recipient. Criteria for Selection 1. Scholastic proficiency 2. Evidence of leadership 3. School, community, professional activity/service 4. Character attributes Application Procedures The following materials (see website for more information) must be submitted electronically or by mail by October 15. Incomplete applications and those not strictly adhering to the directions for submission will not be considered.

Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship - Graduate Students

Criteria for Application: 1. Applicant must be a current member of SHAPE America. Graduate students may join at the time of application. 2. Applicant must be majoring in the field of health, physical education, recreation or dance. 3. Applicant must be enrolled in a matriculated full-time masters or doctoral program. One semester of full-time study in the field of health, physical education, recreation or dance must be completed in pursuit of applicant's current degree. *Doctoral candidates working on their dissertation must be no more than one year beyond coursework completion. 4. Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 overall on a 4.0 grade point scale. The following guidelines should be used when reporting the GPA: * First semester Master's and Doctoral candidates: GPA based on most recent degree obtained. GPA scores from all institutions attended in pursuit of applicant's most recent degree must be factored into the overall GPA. * Master's/Doctoral candidates beyond first semester: GPA based on applicant's current program. GPA scores from all institutions attended in pursuit of applicant's current degree must be factored into the overall GPA. 5. Applicant must be a first time Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship recipient. Undergraduate recipients are ineligible for the graduate scholarship award. Criteria for Selection 1. ATG Artistic Scholarship

To provide financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college students pursuing a major in the performing, visual arts, journalism and/or mass communications. Awards: $1,000 to be applied toward school tuition and fees General Eligibility Requirements: Must be of at least 50% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity Must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S Must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year college/university and must be a full-time, degree seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year and pursuing a major in the visual/performing arts (film, theatre, fashion, photography, graphic design, dance, music, journalism, mass communications, etc.) Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) Family members of Board members are ineligible Selection Criteria: Selection is based on a rating system judged in five major categories. The candidate with the highest combined cumulative points will receive the scholarship. These categories are: Quality of content submission (essay, artistic portfolio) Academic performance Leadership/community service experience and contribution Letters of recommendation Phone/in-person committee interview Please note that those Scholarship Winners will be invited to attend our annual charity event, Fashion for a Passion held in Fall in Dallas, Texas. Fashion for a Passion is our biggest event of the year which helps to raise money for our charitable causes as well as for the current scholarship. The presence of scholarship winners is highly encouraged. Funds will be disbursed directly to the educational institution in the student’s name.
