MillerCoors Engineering and Science Scholarship

Amount: $ 3,000 /Renewable Criteria •Junior or Senior university classification by the Fall Semester •Open to Biochemistry, Computer Science, *Electrical Engineering, and *Mechanical Engineering (*All engineering majors may apply but preference will be given to these engineering majors first) •Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident •Must be of Hispanic descent •Must have a 3.0 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale •Maintain full-time enrollment status (12 hours) for the duration of the scholarship period •Provide two letters of recommendation highlighting leadership potential •Scholar must attend Adelante's Annual Leadership Institute in San Antonio, TX on Oct. 19-21 (Sponsorship to attend is included along with the scholarship) •Must attend a Partnering University

Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship

Xerox is committed to the academic success of all minority students. That’s why we offer a Technical Minority Scholarship that awards between $1,000 and $10,000 to qualified minorities enrolled in a technical degree program at the bachelor level or above. The Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship provides funding to minority students enrolled in one of the technical sciences or engineering disciplines. This scholarship is available to US Citizens and individuals with Permanent Resident visas. The scholarship is not available to spouses and children of Xerox employees.

Rural Women in Technology Scholarship

The Rural Women in Technology scholarship is awarded annually to one female high school senior or undergraduate college student who is currently or has attended high school in a rural community. In order to be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must be planning to attend college to pursue a degree in a computer technology related field, or already doing so as part of an undergraduate degree program. This scholarship is awarded based upon answers to a series of essay questions that are designed to gauge the student’s passion for his or her intended career in computer technology as well as the student’s sense of citizenship and pride in their rural community.

Kentucky Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) Scholarship

The Kentucky Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) Scholarship is open to students from schools in Kentucky who have a passion for using technology skills to make a positive social change in the world or at home in their communities. In order to be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must currently be attending a rural high school as a senior in the state of Kentucky and be an active member of their schools STLP. Additionally, the student must also be planning to attend college to pursue a degree in a computer technology related field. This scholarship is awarded based upon answers to a series of essay questions that are designed to gauge the student’s passion for his or her intended career in computer technology as well as the student’s sense of citizenship and pride in their rural community.

Lance Stafford Larson Student Scholarship

Best Student Paper Contest In 1983, the Lance Stafford Larson award was established by the Larson family in memorial for their son, who died in an electrical accident while an undergraduate at the University of Maryland. The Larson family, which includes IEEE Past President Robert Larson, created this award to encourage students to develop excellence in their communication skills and to motivate students toward achievement in the field of Computer Science. One award of $500 is given each year to the first place winner. First, second, and third place winners also receive a certificate of commendation and a writing implement. Deadline: October 31 of each year. Who is Eligible? All undergraduate students who are IEEE Computer Society members may compete. Criteria? This award is presented for the best student paper. Only papers concerning computer related subjects of no more than twenty pages are eligible. Papers will be judged on technical content, writing skill, and overall presentation. Upsilon Pi Epsilon Student Award for Academic Excellence

The Executive Council of Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) wishes to encourage academic excellence for students in the computing discipline. The UPE initiated this award with the IEEE Computer Society, as the largest association of computer professionals, to raise the importance of academic achievement in our future computer professionals. Up to four awards of $1,000 each are given each year to competition winners. Winners also receive a certificate of commendation, and a periodical subscription for one year. The UPE award criteria requires the same minimum grade point average that UPE membership requires, which is currently a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 is required. Deadline for submission is: October 31 of each year. Who is Eligible? All graduate and undergraduate students who are IEEE Computer Society members, and full-time students at an academic institution are eligible. Student winners of the Computer Society's Richard Merwin or UPE/CS award for the previous year (13 months) are not eligible. Criteria? Judging will be based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities related to the discipline of computing, and the letters of recommendation. How to Apply? Richard E. Merwin Student Scholarship

IEEE Computer Society is offering $40,000 in student scholarships from $1,000 and up to recognize and reward active student volunteer leaders in student branches or chapters who show promise in their academic and professional efforts. This scholarship was created in honor of the late Richard E. Merwin, past president of the IEEE Computer Society, to recognize and reward student leadership. The selected winners of this award will have the opportunity to serve as IEEE Computer Society Student Ambassadors for the particular IEEE region to which they belong. Duties as Student Ambassadors will include collecting and disseminating information to student branches or chapters in their region and serving as a liaison between the IEEE Computer Society Member and Geographic Activities Board (MGAB) and student members in their region. Over a dozen scholarships of $1,000 and up are available, for one academic year (approximately 9 months). The Merwin Scholarship now has two application deadlines; Apr. 30th and Sep. 30th of each year (you may only apply once per year on either Apr. 30th and Sep. 30th). Who is Eligible? Graduate students, and those in the final two years of an undergraduate program in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or a well-defined computer related field of engineering who are active members of a student branch or chapter are eligible. IEEE Computer Society membership is required. (Note: Students applying for the award should have a minimum one year in which to complete their degree, or be considering or enrolled to immediately start further study upon completion.) Applicants are required to have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 over 4.0 (or exam marks of at least 60%), and be a full-time student as defined by his or her academic institution during the course of the award. Student winners of the Computer Society's Richard Merwin or UPE/CS award for the previous year (13 months) are not eligible. Criteria? Evaluation criteria include participation in student IEEE branch/chapter activities (30%), academic achievement (30%), extracurricular activities (10%), letter of recommendation from student branch/chapter advisor (20%), and quality of Student Ambassador vision statement (10%). Google SVA Scholarship

At Google, we believe information should be universally accessible. Our education and scholarship programs aim to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields. As part of commitment to military veterans, Google established the Google SVA Scholarship in partnership with Student Veterans of America. The scholarship provides assistance to student veterans who are pursuing university degrees in the field of computer science in the U.S. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD for the school year and will be invited to attend the Google Scholars’ Retreat in the summer. Who can apply? The Google Lime Scholarship

At Google, we believe information should be universally accessible. Our education and scholarship programs aim to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields. As part of our commitment, we’ve partnered with Lime Connect, a nonprofit organization that supports students with disabilities while they pursue education and promising careers, to help university students with disabilities work toward their academic goals in the field of computer science. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD (for those studying in the US) or 5,000 CAD (for those studying in Canada) and will be invited to attend the Google Scholars’ Retreat in the summer. Who can apply? The Generation Google Scholarship

At Google, we believe information should be universally accessible. Our education and scholarship programs aim to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields. The Generation Google Scholarship was established to help aspiring computer scientists excel in technology and become leaders in the field. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD (for those studying in the US) or 5,000 CAD (for those studying in Canada) for the school year. As part of the scholarship, current high school seniors who are entering their first year of university will be required to attend Google’s Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI). Current undergraduate or graduate students will be invited to attend the Google Scholars’ Retreat in the summer. Who can apply? AP-Google Scholarship

The AP-Google Journalism and Technology Scholarship Program fosters new journalism skills in undergraduate and graduate students developing projects at the intersection of journalism and technology. Our goal: To shine a light on the hidden treasures in schools across the country — the digital-minded journalists who will be the future of our industry. The program is targeted to individual students creating innovative projects that further the ideals of digital journalism. A key goal is to promote geographic, gender and ethnic diversity, with an emphasis on rural and urban areas. Have you created original journalistic content with computer science elements? Are you thinking up new ways to tell a story with technology? Are you a “techie” who knows how to construct a journalistic story through multimedia? We’re looking for students pursuing studies at the crossroads of journalism, computer sciences and new media. If you’re on the cutting edge of digital media beyond the classroom, this scholarship is for you! Students from diverse backgrounds, as well as those attending rural-area institutions, are strongly encouraged to apply. A selected number of scholarships will be based on financial need. AWARD Six students will receive scholarship awards of $20,000 each. Half of the award will be granted in the first semester. The remainder will be awarded in the second semester upon proof of project proposal update and maintenance of a 3.0 GPA. Awards will be made payable to the post-secondary institution. Scholarship winners also will receive a one-year ONA membership and recognition at ONA’s annual conference. Applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of the application: Be a U.S. citizen Be a minimum of 18 years of age Be currently enrolled full time at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. (College graduates returning to school are eligible to apply and must provide an acceptance letter from graduate institution.) STEM Majors Scholarship for Underserved Students

Scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded to full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in an eligible major and currently enrolled in an accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) institution in the United States. Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with one of these institutions are eligible. Candidates must be at least second-year college students, enrolled full time as sophomores or juniors at the time of application. Scholarships of $3,000 will be awarded to full-time graduate students currently working toward a master's degree in an eligible major. Graduate students are not required to be enrolled in an HBCU institution. Distance-learning or online programs will not qualify. Eligibility: NOTE: Degree-seeking candidates must be U.S. citizens. Undergraduate students must be currently enrolled and attending either a two-year or four-year accredited HBCU institution in the United States. Students also may be enrolled in an accredited distance-learning or online degree program affiliated with one of these institutions. Applications will be accepted from qualified sophomore and junior students (minimum second-year students only) enrolled full-time in an eligible degree-seeking program. Eligible majors include the following or related STEM subjects: electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering; computer engineering technology; computer information systems; information systems management; computer science; physics; or mathematics. Majors directly related to the support of U.S.intelligence or homeland security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible. Graduate-level eligible degree programs include the following or related fields of electrical, electronics, chemical, systems or communications engineering; physics; mathematics; computer science; technology management; or information technology. An overall GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) is required. Special consideration will be given to military enlisted candidates/military veterans.
