Agribusiness Scholarships
The college major of agribusiness is also referred to as agricultural business. In this major you study the art and science of farm food production. In the paragraphs that follow, we will begin to explore this major as preparation for your research into the world of agribusiness scholarships.
In this field of study you learn all about the best practices involved with the production and marketing of food and other agricultural products. What surprises many agribusiness majors is the large amount of math they need to master as part of the degree program. You'll study statistics along with managerial accounting, agricultural finance and micro and macroeconomics. Other courses you may encounter include environmental law, international trade, farming technologies and information systems.
Some agricultural colleges offer concentrations within the major. Examples of these can include agricultural marketing, animal production or international agriculture. It is also common for agribusiness programs to offer internships. You should take advantage of whatever internship opportunities present themselves. This will give you a chance to gain valuable work experience and establish professional contacts all while receiving course credit.
The employment prospects for agribusiness majors are relatively strong despite the continued consolidation of farming as an industry. Agricultural or farm managers are still in demand. Also, there is continual need for those with specialized training. These include graduates with experience in accounting, credit analysis, marketing and international trade.

The Western Union Foundation Global Scholarship Program (WU Scholars) is a program designed to support young people and their efforts to pursue a post-secondary education.
Selected scholarship recipients will receive USD $2,500 each to contribute toward tuition or school fees at an accredited post-secondary institution and will be selected based on criteria relating to the program's three pillars: Perseverance, Aspiration, and Community.
To be eligible, students must be seeking an undergraduate degree in one of the following categories: science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and business/entrepreneurship.
The application, which requires a letter of recommendation and an academic transcript, opens Wednesday March 8th. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 12 at noon Eastern Standard Time.

Scholarships are awarded to students in the following areas of study: General Agriculture, Animal Science, Agronomy, Beef Cattle Management, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, and Agricultural Business. These awards are for incoming freshmen only.
Recipients must be pursuing a degree in Ag-Business or Wildlife Management with a minimum 3.0 GPA and show evidence of financial need while holding a part time job.
Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior (with at least 22 hours remaining) enrolled in Agribusiness or related field. Must be a resident of Kansas and parents must be members of Midland Marketing from Ellis, Graham, Rooks, Rush, Russell or Trego counties.
ELIGIBILITY: Pursing a four-year degree in any area of agriculture. Applicant must complete financial analysis section of application and exhibit financial need. Resident of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or Wisconsin required. Recipients shall allow Tractor Supply Company to use photographs of themselves and their families in company advertising.AWARD: Approximately one scholarship at $3,000. Not guaranteed.
ELIGIBILITY: Pursuing a four-year degree at Johnson & Wales University majoring in equine science, agricultural business management, agricultural economics, international agriculture, agricultural finance, dietetics, hospitality, food service management or other non-agricultural related areas. Minimum GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale required. Renewable for a full-time, day school student maintaining a minimum 3.25 GPA. Must be active and support the JWU FFA chapter as a member while enrolled at JWU.AWARD: One full-tuition scholarship valued at $22,149. Award is in the form of tuition reduction. Renewable.
ELIGIBILITY:
Pursuing a four-year degree in animal nutrition, animal/dairy science, agricultural business management, international agriculture or agricultural sales and marketing. Must live on family farm, have strong leadership skills and have participated in
community service. Must plan to attend school at Oregon State, Chico State, Colorado State, University of Idaho, Fresno State or California Polytechnic.
AWARD: Five scholarships at $1,000 each, non-renewable.
ELIGIBILITY: Pursuing a four-year degree in any area of agriculture, excluding aviation, hospitality and non-agriculture. Scholarship available to males who will be attending a university with an Alpha Gamma Rho chapter. Must exhibit strong leadership skills. ELIGIBILITY: Pursuing a four-year degree in any area of agriculture. Member of one of the following Minnesota FFA chapters required: Fillmore Central, Kingsland, Lanesboro, Lewiston, Mabel-Canton, Rushford-Peterson, St. Charles or Winona. Family must be involved in production agriculture. Applicants must live on family farm.AWARD: One scholarship at $1,000, non-renewable.
ELIGIBILITY: Pursuing a four-year degree in any area of agriculture. Must be a resident of and plan to attend school in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan or Ohio. Applicant must have participated in community service.AWARD: Two scholarships at $1,250 each, non-renewable.
ELIGIBILITY: Pursuing a four-year degree in agronomy, crop or plant science, horticulture, business/landscape/nursery or turfgrass management, agricultural communications, public relations, sales or marketing, entomology or plant pathology. Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale required. Must reside in Arizona, California, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota or Washington (state).AWARD: Five scholarships at $1,275 each, non-renewable.
ELIGIBILITY: Pursuing a two- or four-year degree in any area of agriculture. Scholarships are available for physically disabled or handicapped members. In addition to the individual scholarships, the B.R.I.D.G.E. Endowment Fund will make available a $200 cash award and plaque to the FFA chapter doing an excellent job of serving rural handicapped people in their community.AWARD: Approximately one scholarship at $5,000. Not guaranteed.
