Beistle Scholarship Fund

The Beistle Scholarship Fund of The Franklin County Foundation, a regional foundation of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, is a scholarship for legal dependents (natural or adopted) of full-time employees of the Beistle Company. If there are no eligible children, or if funds are available beyond those needed; second preference may be given to students graduating from Shippensburg High School, if there are no such students, third preference may be given to children graduating from other high schools within a 30 mile radius of Shippensburg. Eligibility Criteria 1. Applicants must be accepted for admission to an accredited college or university or graduate school. 2. Applicants must demonstrate academic promise and financial need as determined by the Advisory Committee. 3. Academic achievement in high school, community involvement, and citizenship will serve as determining factors in the selection process. 4. Applicants may be required to attend a personal interview with representatives of the Advisory Committee.

Norma Gotwalt Scholarship

The Norma Gotwalt Scholarship Fund is an endowment of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. This scholarship will be awarded to one female studying elementary education and entering her senior year at Penn State Harrisburg. This scholarship fund was established in honor of two of Ms. Gotwalt’s colleagues in the field of education: Dr. William Henk and Dr. Steven Melnick. This $3,000 scholarship must be used for tuition, fees, or books and is contingent upon a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 while attending Penn State Harrisburg. Eligibility Criteria: 1. Must be a female elementary education student entering her senior year at Penn State Harrisburg 2. Must maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA in her time at Penn State Harrisburg 3. Community service 4. Financial need

George P. Boucek Scholarship Fund of Delta Dental of Pennsylvania

The George P. Boucek Scholarship Fund of Delta Dental of Pennsylvania began in 2001-2002 as a project of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. This scholarship program is for the children of employees of Delta Dental to assist with college tuition expenses. The Scholarship will be awarded as indicated: Half the funding initially and thereafter - if the funding is not being used for a renewable scholarship - shall go to a student intending to attend college, who can demonstrate financial need, and is a son/daughter of a Delta Dental management employee. Half of the funding initially and thereafter - if the funding is not being used for a renewable scholarship - will be awarded to a student intending to attend college, who can demonstrate financial need, and is a son/daughter of a Delta Dental employee who is a member of PJB Local 170. Eligibility Criteria: Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria: 1. Dependent children of a Delta management employee and/or member of PJB Local 170 2. Must attend a two- or four-year accredited college in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 3. Academic achievement with a minimum GPA of a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale 4. Extracurricular activities, work experience, and community service 5. Financial need

Harry N. and Melva A. Derickson Scholarship

The Harry N. and Melva A. Derickson Scholarship Fund is an endowment fund of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. The income from the fund is used to assist residents from Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties for a course of study in preparation for medical or dental school, nursing, physical therapy, other medical related fields, or engineering. Students will be enrolled in undergraduate programs at two or four year colleges or universities. There will be multiple awards at varying amounts. It is preferred that the number of scholarships be split equally between males and females. Eligibility Criteria 1. Residents of Dauphin, Cumberland, or Perry counties 2. Desire to pursue a course of study in preparation for engineering, medical school, dental school, nursing, physical therapy, or other medical related fields 3. Academic achievement 4. Extracurricular activities 5. Service to the community 6. Financial need

Sue and Ken Dyer Foundation Travel Scholarship Award

The Sue & Ken Dyer Foundation is an endowment fund of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities from which the income is used to assist students with travel expenses for educational or service trips. The Sue & Ken Dyer Foundation will award travel scholarships in an amount up to $2,000. Award recipients will be required to submit a final report describing their travel experience. Eligibility Criteria 1. Juniors or seniors enrolled at one of the following schools: Cedar Cliff, Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg, Trinity, or Harrisburg Academy. 2. Purpose of the travel must be for educational purposes or service, such as missions 3. Character of the applicant 4. Financial need

Norma Gotwalt Scholarship Fund

The Norma Gotwalt Scholarship Fund is an endowment of the Foundation for Enhancing Communities. This scholarship will made one award for a female who is studying elementaryeducation. Recipient must be in her junior or senior year at Penn State Capital College. This scholarship fund was established in honor of two of Ms. Gotwalt’s colleagues in the field of Education: Dr. William Henk and Dr. Steven Melnick. This $3,000 annual scholarship can be used for tuition, course fees, or textbooks and is contingent on a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA while at Penn State Capital College.SELECTION CRITERIA:Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:1. Must be a female elementary education student in her junior or senior year at Penn State Capital College.2. Must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA in her time at Penn State Capital College3. Career goals4. Essay 300 words maximum, typewritten, 12 pt. font, double spaced5. Financial need6. Community service

Leader Scholarship Fund

Recipients chosen annually by the administrators of the LPN Program at the LPN School at HACC York based on financial need of academically qualified students.

Bruce Mangione Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Bruce Mangione Fund is an endowment of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. This fund was established through memorial gifts in honor of Bruce Mangione, former President and owner of Harrisburg Steam Works. Bruce was involved in the development of the Hilton Harrisburg Hotel and Towers, on the Board of the Harristown Development Corporation, and committed to the vitality of downtown Harrisburg. Two $1,500 scholarships are available forchildren who attend school within the city of Harrisburg and for children of the employees of NRG Energy and Harrisburg Hilton & Towers.SELECTION CRITERIA:Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:1. Financial need2. Community involvement and work ethic3. Scholastic performance4. The City of Harrisburg School District or employees of NRG Energy and Harrisburg Hilton & Towers

Clyde M. McGeary Scholarship Fund

The Pennsylvania Art Education Association created this fund to honor the educational career of Clyde M. McGeary. The fund provides scholarships to aspiring art educators in Pennsylvania. Students are nominated by the Pennsylvania Art Education Association.

Tractor Supply Company Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Pursing a four-year degree in any area of agriculture. Applicant must complete financial analysis section of application and exhibit financial need. Resident of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia or Wisconsin required. Recipients shall allow Tractor Supply Company to use photographs of themselves and their families in company advertising.AWARD: Approximately one scholarship at $3,000. Not guaranteed.

Samuel L. Abrams Foundation

Eligibility Criteria: 1. Graduate from one of the following schools: Bishop McDevitt, Camp Hill, Cedar Cliff, Central Dauphin East, Central Dauphin, Cumberland Valley, Harrisburg High, Lower Dauphin, Mechanicsburg Area, Middletown, Red Land, Steelton-Highspire, Susquehanna Township, Susquenita, Harrisburg Academy, Rabbi David L. Silver Yeshiva Academy, or Trinity 2. Plans to attend a post-secondary institution 3. Financial need

Bertha and Byron L. Reppert Scholarship Fund

The Bertha and Byron L. Reppert Scholarship was established in 2001 in memory of their mother and to honor Byron L. Reppert’s then 80th Birthday by his four daughters and their extended families. The scholarship is to encourage and recognize two senior students (one Girl and one Boy) from the Mechanicsburg Area School Districtwho demonstrate good citizenship and actively exhibit an interest in political science, history, horticulture or journalism. This scholarship is an endowment fund of the Foundation for Enhancing Communities.Selection criteriaScholarship applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:1. Applicant must have an interest in political science or horticulture (i.e. participation in student council or local government, or in horticultural activities such as 4-H, local garden clubs, etc.)2. Applicant must be in the top one-third of their graduating class3. Applicant must be accepted to an accredited college or university4. Applicant must demonstrate good citizenship within the school and local community5. Applicant must complete an essay explaining how they meet the above mentioned criteria, one page, 12 pt font, double spaced6. Applicant with financial need is given consideration
