New Hampshire Scholarships

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who attends a US university/college located in the BASAA area (Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Connecticut). Applicants must meet general FEA scholarship eligibility requirements & preferences. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their application forms. Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. Must be applying for a study abroad program eligible for credit at the student’s educational institution Must plan to study abroad for a minimum of 4 weeks in country Is committed to supporting education abroad in his/her campus community through work with the FEA and his/her campus education abroad staff upon return Preferences: Applying to a study abroad program known for its academic rigor and immersion elements Applying to a study abroad program that includes studying the language of the host country (if not English) Applying to a study abroad program with a sustainable service-learning or volunteering component Applying to a study abroad program in a non-traditional destination Demonstrates financial need FEA strongly encourages students to apply who represent a group that is traditionally underrepresented in education abroad Groups typically underrepresented in study abroad include, but are not limited to: Minorities First-generation college students STEM majors Community college students Students with disabilities

($1,500) – Civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a water operations or related science-program Students who are attending or have been accepted into appropriate college/university programs at the undergraduate level are eligible to apply. Applicants must be members of NEWWA. Applicants must reside in New England or attend a college/university in New England to qualify. First choice is for the applicant to attend a college/university within the Region F boundaries. 2nd choice would be for the applicant’s home address to be within the Region F boundaries. When to apply? The application will open February 1st, the deadline is April 15th at 5pm Eastern Time. Who should apply? Primary eligibility is residency in the town of Enfield, N.H. Otherwise, students may be of any age. Students may be enrolled in vocational/technical schools, any college or university, including community colleges, graduate programs or other training programs beyond high school. Students may be taking one or more courses for credit or non-credit in a degree program or non-degree program. Selection criteria Awards are based on an evaluation of the student’s (1) motivation, (2) merit and (3) financial need. Preference is given to those students with the fewest financial resources. Determining financial need Candidates are required to submit a copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) that is the result of filling out the Free Federal Form (FAFSA), which determines what a particular family can reasonably afford for education or the expected family contribution. In addition, finalists will be asked to supply a copy of the financial aid package offered by the institution to be attended. Award decisions A committee typically meets in late May to make its decisions. Awards are announced at Mascoma Valley Regional High School’s awards night.

The Fisher Cats Foundation is dedicated to bettering the lives of young people and is proud to support our youth through the Fisher Cats Foundation Scholar-Athlete Scholarships. Each year, the foundation awards $30,000 in scholarships to ten New Hampshire students and two Massachusetts students. Who should apply? Candidates for the Fisher Cats Scholarship must be residents of New Hampshire who are graduating from high school. Candidates must be planning to enroll in a four-year degree program or planning to attend a local community college or technical school in the fall. Candidates do not need to be studying in any particular field. *Students applying from Massachusetts will only be considered for the two scholarships offered for Massachusetts students. Applications received from Massachusetts students will be reviewed by board members of the Fisher Cats Foundation based on the criteria below. Selection criteria The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation will review applications based on the following criteria: Academic performance Athletic achievement Citizenship

Who should apply? New Hampshire residents who are: Between the ages of 17 and 23 or a graduate student. Enrolling full time or half time in a 2-year, 4-year or graduate degree program; (NOT part time). Selection criteria: Students are selected to receive awards based on financial need, academic merit and other non-academic factors such as community service, school activities and work experience. Residents who plan to enroll full time in post-secondary programs and live in one of the following communities are eligible for this program: New Hampshire: Barrington, Brentwood, Danville, Dover, Durham, East Kingston, Epping, Exeter, Farmington, Fremont, Greenland, Hampton, Hampton Falls, Kensington, Kingston, Lee, Madbury, Milton, New Castle, Newfields, Newington, Newmarket, Newton, North Hampton, Northwood, Nottingham, Plaistow, Portsmouth, Rochester, Rollinsford, Rye, Sandown, Seabrook, Somersworth, South Hampton, Strafford, or Stratham Maine: Berwick, Eliot, Kittery, North and South Berwick, or York Selection Criteria: Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and merit. There is no specific income limitation; however, preference is generally given to applicants with the highest financial need. Students are selected to receive awards based on academic achievement, involvement in school and community activities, and work experience. An appraisal of the applicant’s abilities made by a teacher, employer or community leader is also considered.
