Legislative Essay Contest

High school seniors who submit an essay of 500 to 2,000 words on the topic Frederick Douglass: Great American and who plan to enroll full-time at a regionally accredited college.

Future Mechanic Grant

Trade School Future is an organization dedicated to helping future mechanics reach their full potential. Our country needs skilled automotive workers and we want to help. Each semester, we’ll be awarding grants of various amounts to students who plan on attending a trade or vocational school with the aim of becoming a mechanic. This scholarship is open to any prospective student in the United States who plans to enroll in a trade or vocational school, 2 or 4 year university, accredited community college or other automotive higher education institution within the next 12 months. The applicant must complete a short essay (500 words or less) detailing why they are pursuing an automotive degree. The applicant must provide a phone number and email address for correspondence about the grant award selection process. The Future Mechanic Grant for the Fall/Winter Semester is a one-time financial gift of $1,000. The grant will be awarded to the applicant who best answers the application criteria, including the short essay. The award funds may be applied to any expenses associated with pursuing an automotive degree or certification. This is a one-time financial gift and does not need to be paid back to Trade School Future.

Drone Technology College Scholarship

The Drone Technology College Scholarship will be awarded to current U.S. college or university undergraduates who demonstrate an interest in pushing the drone industry forward, as demonstrated in an essay of 750-1,000 words. Successful applicants will write thorough, thoughtful essays that dive deeply into the topic, and will have a strong letter of support. Two awards of $1,000 each will be given.

Tripz.com Vacation Rental Community Scholarship

Tripz.com is offering up to $1,000 Scholarship for students that can best exemplify in an essay how tourism positively impacts their community and what attracts travelers to the communities local sights, sounds and experiences.

Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarships

The eligibility criteria to be considered for a Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship are as follows: Students enrolled full-time as a high school senior, progressing normally toward graduation in the Spring/Summer, with plans to enter college no later than the Fall following graduation OR students enrolled full-time as a college freshman or sophomore, no older than 20 years of age and progressing normally toward a bachelor’s degree; Scholarships from the Foundation shall be used only at an institution that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum, and normally has a regularly organized body of students in attendance at the place where the educational activities are carried on, and that is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as being accredited by recognized accrediting agencies; Students seeking degrees through online or distance learning programs exclusively shall not be eligible for Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarships;* A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for graduating high school seniors; A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 for college applicants; U.S. citizenship or permanent resident; All applicants must reside (permanent home address) in one of the following states and the District of Columbia: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Delaware and New Jersey. Employees of Great Southern Wood Preserving, Incorporated, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible. Online/distance learning courses are permitted when a part of the required curriculum taught in the campus environment and when such course is only available online or through distance learning. Jimmy Rane Foundation scholars are students who exhibit academic excellence, leadership skills and community involvement as well as activities, awards and honors, and who have a demonstrated financial need in order to attend college. They must demonstrate their desire and ability to overcome barriers and to achieve their goals. Your application will be evaluated on your: Future goals and plans to achieve them; Successful preparation as a high school student to prepare and pursue a college education; Self motivation in completing challenging coursework; Demonstration of financial need.

Empowering Women In Law Scholarship

The Pearce Law Firm in Philadelphia is pleased to offer The Pearce Law Firm – Empowering Women In Law Scholarship. This scholarship opportunity is open to women nationwide who are currently attending a law school in the United States. This scholarship is intended to encourage & support outstanding achievement & leadership by example from women in the field of law. This award will be presented to a current female law student for the following academic year in the amount of $2,000.00 & will be paid at the beginning of the fall semester (2015). Requirements: This scholarship is judged & awarded primarily on academic achievement, school & community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities & financial need. The scholarship must be submitted, in full, by December 31, 2014. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. The applicant must be a current female law student. Applicant will have successfully completed at least one semester of law school but will not yet have graduated by fall semester of 2015. Must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0. A transcript must be attached for application to be considered. An unopened copy of transcripts, sent from the applicant’s most recent law school will be required from finalists before award is presented. This scholarship is a one-time award worth $2,000. Although not required, applicants are encouraged to submit recommendation letters and/or resumes to substantiate their application.

Charles L. Hebner Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility requirements: Legal residents of Delaware U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens High school seniors who rank in upper half of class and have a combined score of 1350 on the SAT Enroll full-time at the University of Delaware or Delaware State University Major in the humanities or social sciences. Preference will be given to political science majors. Must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to the application deadline. Award: Full tuition, fees, room, board, and books at the University of Delaware or Delaware State University Renewable for up to three additional years with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 One award/year/school

Christa McAuliffe Teacher Incentive Program

Eligibility requirements: Legal residents of Delaware. U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens. Full-time students enrolled at a Delaware college in an undergraduate program leading to teacher certification. High school seniors must rank in upper half of class and have a combined score of 1570 on the SAT. Undergraduates must have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA. Awards may be provided for programs of study not available in Delaware or prorated for part-time students. Preference is given to applicants planning to teach in a critical need area as defined by the Delaware Department of Education. Award: Loan not to exceed cost of tuition, mandatory fees, and other direct educational expenses. Renewable for up to three additional years with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 Loan forgiveness provision at a rate of one year of teaching in a Delaware public school for one year of loan.

Delaware Nursing Incentive Program

Eligibility requirements: Legal residents of Delaware. U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens. Full-time students enrolled in an accredited program leading to certification as an RN or LPN. High school seniors must rank in upper half of class with at least a 2.5 cumulative, unweighted GPA. Undergraduates must have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA. Current state employees do not have to be Delaware residents and may be considered for prorated awards if enrolled part-time. RNs with five or more years of state service may enroll in a BSN program on a full- or part-time basis. Award: Loan not to exceed cost of tuition, mandatory fees, and other direct educational expenses. Renewable for up to three additional years with a cumulative 2.75 GPA. Governor's Education Grant for Unemployed Adults

The Governor's Education Grant for Unemployed Adults is funded by the Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO) and administered by the Delaware Higher Education Office (DHEO). The grant is designed to assist unemployed adult students seeking to acquire new or enhanced skills that will permit them to re-enter the labor market. When to complete the Governor’s Education Grant for Unemployed Adults Application Complete this application only if all of the following apply to you: · You are 18 or older. · You are a high school graduate or GED recipient. · You are a resident of Delaware and a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. · You are enrolled or are planning to enroll at a participating school (see website for list of participating schools) o part-time in college classes with a courseload of 11 credits or less (Graduate-level coursework is not eligible), or o in a non-credit adult education class. · You are not receiving any other scholarships or grants for your educational expenses. (Employee-paid tuition benefits may be used with grants without penalty.) · You are registered with the Department of Labor – Division of Employment and Training (DET) (See website for list of Dept of Labor locations ) · You have been recommended for the Governor’s Grant program by a DET Career Counselor, and · You have been deemed ineligible for the Department of Labor’s Dislocated Worker Training Program. Deadlines: Although applications may be submitted through the close of the term or conclusion of the training program for which they are intended, due to limited funding, it is recommended that applications be submitted prior to the start of the term/program. Academic Common Market

The Academic Common Market is a tuition-savings agreement between 15 states that are members of the Southern Regional Education Board. If your degree program is not offered by a public college in Delaware, you may be eligible for in-state tuition at one of the participating public colleges. You may apply for the ACM if you meet the following eligibility criteria: You are a Delaware resident and U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen. Your degree program is not offered at the University of Delaware or Delaware State University. You have been accepted into, or you are already enrolled in, an eligible degree program that has been selected for the ACM by a participating public institution. The ACM includes baccalaureate and graduate-level degree programs. First professional degree programs—such as dentistry, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, theology, and law—are not offered in the ACM and cannot be requested. Degree programs offered in the ACM are selected by the participating institutions and are subject to change.Both participating institutions and states may set restrictions on ACM participation, and institutions may elect to discontinue participation in the ACM at any time. Veterinary Medicine Contract Program-University of Georgia

Eligibility requirements: Legal resident of Delaware U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen Admission to University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine Must meet and exceed applications of qualified in-state students to be considered for the program. Award: Tuition at the Georgia resident rate for up to one Delaware resident accepted into the entering class at UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. Admissions: Information is available on the UGA website (http://www.vet.uga.edu/). Deadline: Applications for the DVM program are available from the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges and are due by October 1 of the year preceding planned enrollment. Delaware residents must also complete a Delaware Residency Certification Form to be considered for the contract program.
