The Industrial Minerals & Aggregates Division (IM&AD) of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration annually awards one or more scholarships to promising college students who are pursuing degrees in geology, mining engineering, or mineral economics with special interests in an industrial minerals and aggregates-oriented program. The Gerald V. Henderson Memorial Scholarship (Henderson Scholarship) is open to undergraduate or graduate students. Applicant Qualifications: Henderson Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. 2. Be an SME student member in good standing. 3. Attend a school that is ABET-accredited and/or has an SME Student Chapter. 4. Demonstrate a desire for and a probability of success in a career in industrial minerals and/or aggregates industries. The Environmental Division of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration annually awards scholarships to promising college students who have chosen as a career path the field of mining and the environment. The Environmental Division Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Environmental Division Scholarship applicants may also be considered for a $2,000 scholarship sponsored by Veolia Water Technologies (Veolia). To be considered for the Veolia Scholarship, applicants must submit a short essay (approximately 250 words) explaining why water is an essential part of the mining process. On an annual basis, the Women's Auxiliary to AIME (WAAIME) Scholarship fund provides scholarships to students pursuing degrees in the earth sciences as related to the minerals field. Fields recognized by WAAIME may include mining, geological sciences, metallurgy, petroleum, mineral sciences, materials science and engineering, mining economics, chemical engineering, and other related studies. The number and amount of scholarships awarded yearly shall be dictated by the funds available and by the financial needs of the applicants. Students are eligible to receive a maximum of two years of funding from WAAIME. The two years may be two undergraduate years, two graduate years, or one undergraduate year and one graduate year. Should extenuating circumstances occur, the student’s sponsoring section’s scholarship chair may recommend that the WAAIME Executive Committee approve a third year of funding for a student. Students wishing to receive funding must reapply annually. WAAIME Scholarship applicants must be attending accredited colleges or universities within the United States. The list of schools accredited by ABET, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, shall be used as a general guideline. There are no requirements regarding age, sex, citizenship, race or religion. Candidates may first apply in their second year of study. Preference will be given first to those needing aid for their final year and secondly to those requiring aid for their junior year. Undergraduate assistance will have priority over graduate work. All candidates must be full-time students and must maintain full-time status to receive WAAIME assistance. Purpose To provide an incentive to engineering undergraduate students enrolled in ABET accredited engineering programs to choose nondestructive testing and evaluation as their field of specialization. The Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship is a monetary award. Eligibility Undergraduate students enrolled in an engineering program of an ABET accredited university at the time the application is submitted for this scholarship. Each potential candidate for this award must show their anticipated graduation date to be later that the date the award funds are to be distributed. Each potential candidate must also show an active interest in the field of nondestructive testing and evaluation. Method of Selection The University Programs Committee selects up to three $3,000 scholarships each year, pending merit and number of submissions. The foundation awards college and vocational scholarships to Alaska Native shareholders of Bristol Bay Native Corporation. Established through funding received from Northern Dynasty Mines, Inc. to encourage further education or career advancement and interest in the mining industry. Eligibility Requirements: *BBNC shareholder *entering freshman enrolled as a full time student in an accredited college, university or vocational institution (preference given to graduates from the four Bristol Bay school districts) *cumulative 2.0 grade point average or better *able to show financial need.

Requirements: 1. Enrolled member of Navajo or Ute Mountain Ute Indian. Certification of Tribal membership is required. 2. High school senior admitted to college, students currently atteding or admitted to a four-year college. 3. Minimum cumulative B average or 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. GPA must have been attained as a high school senior or from current college performance. 4. ACT SCORE: 22 or better 5. Must be registered as a full-time student and show proof of full-time student status prior to award payment. 6. Major course of study must be in the following areas: engineering (mining, civil, mechanical, electrical), business/accounting, environmental/reclamation sciences, labor/industrial relations, purchasing, or occupational safety.

Through the Straight North STEM Scholarship, we award the winning student $1,000 to be used toward his or her degree. In addition, we award $250 book scholarships to the two runners-up.

he ASDSO Scholarship Program, established in 1992, awards annual undergraduate scholarships to U.S. citizens enrolled in accredited programs in engineering or related fields and planning careers related to the design, construction, or operation of dams. Scholarships have ranged from $5,000 to $10,000 in recent years. Successful recipients must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level during the following year's academic term in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams. Minimum Criteria Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 for the first three years of college and be recommended by their academic advisor. AACE International is dedicated to advancing the study of cost engineering, and cost management through the integrative process of total cost management. To promote this objective, AACE awards academic scholarships to full-time students pursuing a related degree in engineering, construction management, building construction, computer sciences, business, quantity surveying, information technology, etc. The cost engineering profession uses the process of total cost management to identify and define those areas of business in which the discipline of cost engineering and cost management principles may be applied to plan and control resources, assets, costs, profitability, and risk. There is no limit on the number of applicants that may come from one school or university; however, only one Coal & Energy Division Scholarship will be awarded to a mining engineering program in any given year. Applicant Qualifications C&E Division Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. 2. Be a SME student member in good standing. 3. Attend a school that is ABET accredited and/or has an SME student chapter. 4. Demonstrate a desire for and a probability of success in a career in coal mining.
