Gerald V. Henderson Memorial Scholarship (Industrial Minerals & Aggregates Division)

The Industrial Minerals & Aggregates Division (IM&AD) of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration annually awards one or more scholarships to promising college students who are pursuing degrees in geology, mining engineering, or mineral economics with special interests in an industrial minerals and aggregates-oriented program. The Gerald V. Henderson Memorial Scholarship (Henderson Scholarship) is open to undergraduate or graduate students. Applicant Qualifications: Henderson Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. 2. Be an SME student member in good standing. 3. Attend a school that is ABET-accredited and/or has an SME Student Chapter. 4. Demonstrate a desire for and a probability of success in a career in industrial minerals and/or aggregates industries. Application Requirements: Henderson Scholarship applications must be submitted online via SME’s Scholarship portal: https://app.wizehive.com/appform/login/smeapp. The online application requires the following information: 1. Demographic and contact information. 2. Short statement (one page) describing applicant’s interest in/passion for a career in the industrial minerals and/or aggregates industries. 3. Two references, one from university faculty and one from an appropriate industry professional. 4. Résumé detailing past education and work experience. 5. Copy of most recent transcript (unofficial transcripts are OK). 6. Anticipated expenses/income for the current academic year. Environmental Division Scholarship and Veolia Water Technologies Scholarship

The Environmental Division of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration annually awards scholarships to promising college students who have chosen as a career path the field of mining and the environment. The Environmental Division Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Environmental Division Scholarship applicants may also be considered for a $2,000 scholarship sponsored by Veolia Water Technologies (Veolia). To be considered for the Veolia Scholarship, applicants must submit a short essay (approximately 250 words) explaining why water is an essential part of the mining process. Applicant Qualifications: Environmental Division Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. WAAIME Scholarship

On an annual basis, the Women's Auxiliary to AIME (WAAIME) Scholarship fund provides scholarships to students pursuing degrees in the earth sciences as related to the minerals field. Fields recognized by WAAIME may include mining, geological sciences, metallurgy, petroleum, mineral sciences, materials science and engineering, mining economics, chemical engineering, and other related studies. The number and amount of scholarships awarded yearly shall be dictated by the funds available and by the financial needs of the applicants. Students are eligible to receive a maximum of two years of funding from WAAIME. The two years may be two undergraduate years, two graduate years, or one undergraduate year and one graduate year. Should extenuating circumstances occur, the student’s sponsoring section’s scholarship chair may recommend that the WAAIME Executive Committee approve a third year of funding for a student. Students wishing to receive funding must reapply annually. WAAIME Scholarship applicants must be attending accredited colleges or universities within the United States. The list of schools accredited by ABET, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, shall be used as a general guideline. There are no requirements regarding age, sex, citizenship, race or religion. Candidates may first apply in their second year of study. Preference will be given first to those needing aid for their final year and secondly to those requiring aid for their junior year. Undergraduate assistance will have priority over graduate work. All candidates must be full-time students and must maintain full-time status to receive WAAIME assistance. Student membership ID number must be included on the WAAIME Scholarship application and membership will be verified.

Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship

Purpose To provide an incentive to engineering undergraduate students enrolled in ABET accredited engineering programs to choose nondestructive testing and evaluation as their field of specialization. The Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship is a monetary award. Eligibility Undergraduate students enrolled in an engineering program of an ABET accredited university at the time the application is submitted for this scholarship. Each potential candidate for this award must show their anticipated graduation date to be later that the date the award funds are to be distributed. Each potential candidate must also show an active interest in the field of nondestructive testing and evaluation. Method of Selection The University Programs Committee selects up to three $3,000 scholarships each year, pending merit and number of submissions. Form of Award $3,000 in funding and Certificate in Walnut Frame Materials Submitted * Materials must now be submitted electronically. Completed application form – signed by the Administrative Officer (department head or chairman), or his/her designee, of the program in which candidate is enrolled. Outline of student’s program of study; Official school transcript showing all completed coursework; if educational institution will submit electronically then have them submit the transcript to ASNT using the webpage for submission of application; if educational institution does not submit transcripts electronically then mail transcript to ASNT HQ. Three letters of recommendation, signed by separate faculty members; and, Student’s original essay describing how he/she envisions the role of NDE/NDT in his/her studies and career. Pebble Project - BBNC EF Scholarships

The foundation awards college and vocational scholarships to Alaska Native shareholders of Bristol Bay Native Corporation. Established through funding received from Northern Dynasty Mines, Inc. to encourage further education or career advancement and interest in the mining industry. Eligibility Requirements: *BBNC shareholder *entering freshman enrolled as a full time student in an accredited college, university or vocational institution (preference given to graduates from the four Bristol Bay school districts) *cumulative 2.0 grade point average or better *able to show financial need.

BHP-Coal New Mexico Scholarship

Requirements: 1. Enrolled member of Navajo or Ute Mountain Ute Indian. Certification of Tribal membership is required. 2. High school senior admitted to college, students currently atteding or admitted to a four-year college. 3. Minimum cumulative B average or 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. GPA must have been attained as a high school senior or from current college performance. 4. ACT SCORE: 22 or better 5. Must be registered as a full-time student and show proof of full-time student status prior to award payment. 6. Major course of study must be in the following areas: engineering (mining, civil, mechanical, electrical), business/accounting, environmental/reclamation sciences, labor/industrial relations, purchasing, or occupational safety.

Straight North STEM Scholarship

With Internet marketing becoming more complex and challenging by the day, successful execution requires a solid education. As an industry leader, Straight North supports students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines. Through the Straight North STEM Scholarship, we award the winning student $1,000 to be used toward his or her degree. In addition, we award $250 book scholarships to the two runners-up.

ASDSO Senior Undergraduate Scholarship

he ASDSO Scholarship Program, established in 1992, awards annual undergraduate scholarships to U.S. citizens enrolled in accredited programs in engineering or related fields and planning careers related to the design, construction, or operation of dams. Scholarships have ranged from $5,000 to $10,000 in recent years. Successful recipients must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level during the following year's academic term in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams. Minimum Criteria Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 for the first three years of college and be recommended by their academic advisor. Basis for Award The basis for selection will generally follow these guidelines: Academic Scholarship Financial Need Work Experience/Activities Essay Announcement of successful candidates will be made in July of each year.

AACE International Competitive Scholarships

AACE International is dedicated to advancing the study of cost engineering, and cost management through the integrative process of total cost management. To promote this objective, AACE awards academic scholarships to full-time students pursuing a related degree in engineering, construction management, building construction, computer sciences, business, quantity surveying, information technology, etc. The cost engineering profession uses the process of total cost management to identify and define those areas of business in which the discipline of cost engineering and cost management principles may be applied to plan and control resources, assets, costs, profitability, and risk. The major elements of the cost engineering discipline include estimating, project/product controls, planning and scheduling, business sciences, and project/product management.Scholarship Descriptions:AACE International scholarships are available in amounts ranging from $2000 to $8000. Specific awards will be determined based on your overall scholarship and collegiate accomplishments.Eligibility:Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time students who are enrolled in a program related to cost engineering/cost management. These programs include: * Agricultural Engineering * Architectural Engineering * Building Construction * Business Administration * Chemical Engineering * Civil Engineering * Industrial Engineering * Manufacturing Engineering * Mechanical Engineering * Mining Engineering * Electrical Engineering * Quantity SurveyingApplicants in their final undergraduate year must have been accepted to attend a full-time graduate program in the next academic year to qualify for a scholarship.

MillerCoors Engineering and Science Scholarship

Amount: $ 3,000 /Renewable Criteria •Junior or Senior university classification by the Fall Semester •Open to Biochemistry, Computer Science, *Electrical Engineering, and *Mechanical Engineering (*All engineering majors may apply but preference will be given to these engineering majors first) •Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident •Must be of Hispanic descent •Must have a 3.0 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale •Maintain full-time enrollment status (12 hours) for the duration of the scholarship period •Provide two letters of recommendation highlighting leadership potential •Scholar must attend Adelante's Annual Leadership Institute in San Antonio, TX on Oct. 19-21 (Sponsorship to attend is included along with the scholarship) •Must attend a Partnering University

Coal & Energy Division Scholarship and John Sidney Marshall Scholarship

The Coal & Energy Division of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration annually awards scholarships to promising college students who have chosen as a career path the field of mining engineering with an emphasis on coal. There is no limit on the number of applicants that may come from one school or university; however, only one Coal & Energy Division Scholarship will be awarded to a mining engineering program in any given year. Applicant Qualifications C&E Division Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. 2. Be a SME student member in good standing. 3. Attend a school that is ABET accredited and/or has an SME student chapter. 4. Demonstrate a desire for and a probability of success in a career in coal mining.
