Visual Arts Scholarships

Here are some of the Visual Arts scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Vercille Voss Graduate Student Scholarship

The IFDA Illinois Chapter initiated the Vercille Voss Graduate Student Scholarship in memory of Vercille Voss, longtime chapter member and mentor to new members and students. The applicant must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time graduate student at an accredited university. Application accepted each year between March 1 and postmarked no later than March 31. Results announced by July 31. See application form for further requirements. ELIGIBILITY/GUIDELINES All applicants must be graduate students and have completed four design courses in post-secondary education at the time of application and be majoring in Interior Design or a related field.

Ruth Clark Furniture Design Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY/GUIDELINES All applicants must have completed four design courses in post-secondary education at the time of application and be majoring in Interior Design or a related field. All applicants must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in DESIGN with a focus on residential upholstered and/or wood furniture design. The completed application packet must include a sealed transcript of course work that verifies full-time status and shows your GPA. Transcript may be sent separately. Application accepted each year between March 1 and postmarked no later than March 31. Winner will be notified by July 31. See application form for further requirements.

Green/Sustainable Design Scholarship

Aware of increasing environmental concerns worldwide, the IFDA Educational Foundation established a scholarship for a student focusing on the evolving green/sustainable field of study. Sustainable design is the development of innovative ways to create living spaces that are energy efficient and feature green/sustainable materials, fabrications and products. The student applying for this scholarship is planning to become an educated participant in the green movement. Paying equal attention to both sustainability factors and design aesthetics, the student should be demonstrating creative use of green products and eco-friendly furnishings in class projects. The student is familiar with current information in the green/sustainable field, is applying this knowledge in class work and has a goal of seeking a future LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation. ATG Artistic Scholarship

To provide financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college students pursuing a major in the performing, visual arts, journalism and/or mass communications. Awards: $1,000 to be applied toward school tuition and fees General Eligibility Requirements: Must be of at least 50% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity Must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S Must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year college/university and must be a full-time, degree seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year and pursuing a major in the visual/performing arts (film, theatre, fashion, photography, graphic design, dance, music, journalism, mass communications, etc.) Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) Family members of Board members are ineligible Selection Criteria: Selection is based on a rating system judged in five major categories. The candidate with the highest combined cumulative points will receive the scholarship. These categories are: Quality of content submission (essay, artistic portfolio) Academic performance Leadership/community service experience and contribution Letters of recommendation Phone/in-person committee interview Please note that those Scholarship Winners will be invited to attend our annual charity event, Fashion for a Passion held in Fall in Dallas, Texas. Fashion for a Passion is our biggest event of the year which helps to raise money for our charitable causes as well as for the current scholarship. The presence of scholarship winners is highly encouraged. Funds will be disbursed directly to the educational institution in the student’s name.
