Science Scholarships

Here are some of the Science scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

District Educators Scholarships

General Eligibility  Applicants must be a minimum of eighteen years of age  Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED  Financial need is not required  Applicant must be a current welding educator or pursuing a career in welding education District Level Eligibility  Applicants may use funds for professional development courses  Preference will be given to applicants pursuing an AS, AAS, BS, MS, or PhD degree in an area related to Welding (eg. Welding Technology, Welding Engineering Technology, Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics) or Education related to welding (eg. Technical Education, Trade and Industrial Education, etc.)  Applicant must attend an educational institution within the boundaries of the pertinent AWS District in which they apply Application Requirements  AWS Scholarship Application  AWS Verification of Enrollment  Two letters of reference  Personal statement that includes  General background information  How the degree or course will help the applicant be a better welding instructor  Education and career objectives  Demonstrated welding experience  Demonstrated teaching experience  Participation in class, campus and outside organizations  Participation in AWS Student and Section activities  Participation in AWS Technical or Education Committee activities  For applicants seeking funding to complete a degree or short course:  Official transcripts from current and past schools including course information on welding-related or education-related emphasis  Plan, schedule and budget for degree path or professional development course

Project SEED Scholarships

To be eligible for a Project SEED scholarship, high school senior students must have worked at least one summer at a science institute under the Project SEED program. Scholarships are restricted to students who plan to major in a chemical science or engineering field such as chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, materials science, or some other closely related major. The scholarships are intended to assist former SEED participants in their transition from high school to college and consist of up to $5,000. Project SEED scholarships are nonrenewable and only awarded to first-year college students. Selection is based on achievement in school, success in the Project SEED program, financial need, and intended chemical-related field of scientific study. ACS-Hach Land Grant Undergraduate Scholarship

The ACS-Hach Land Grant Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate chemistry majors who attend one of our 72 partner institutions and express an interest in teaching high school chemistry. Students are selected on the bases of chemistry aptitude, interest, and need. The selection process is administered by partner universities. Scholars receive $6,000 per academic year for up to six years. Students must meet the award criteria to renew a scholarship. The scholarship can be applied to tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses. The partner universities have oversight for the selection of scholars. Who is Eligible? To be eligible, you must: Be enrolled as a full-time student at one of our partner institutions Major in chemistry and complete educational program Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States Express the intention to teach high school chemistry after graduation

ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarship

The ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarship is awarded to professionals in the chemistry field pursuing a Masters degree in education or becoming certified as a chemistry/science teacher. Scholarship recipients receive either up to $6,000 for full-time study or up to $3,000 for part-time study.* Recipients who meet the award criteria are eligible to renew the award annually up to three years. The scholarship can be applied to tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses. Applications are accepted annually from February 1 – April 1. Interested applicants must submit an online application. Who Is Eligible? To be eligible, you must: Have a Bachelors degree or higher in chemistry or chemistry-related discipline Have work experience in a chemistry-related profession Be accepted into an education masters program or teacher certification program Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Technical Division Scholarships

ACS Technical Divisions sponsor scholarship programs for qualified applicants who want to enter the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology and teaching. The following students are eligible to apply: high school seniors entering college and planning to pursue full-time study in a chemically-related field college freshmen, sophomores or juniors currently pursuing or planning to pursue full-time study in a chemically related field community college students majoring in a two-year chemical technology program or planning to transfer to a four-year school

ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Grant

The ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Grant is awarded to high school chemistry teachers seeking funds to support ideas that transform classroom learning and encourage student development.

Jackie Klinesteker Minority Scholarship

Students of color (African American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, Pacific Islander) residing in West Michigan with a declared major in a mental health-related field of study at an accredited college/university located within Michigan. Graduate level students will be given first preference. Must have financial need and a 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average.

APIASF/Toyota Scholarship

Minimum Eligibility Criteria Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply Be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university in the Fall. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) or have earned a GED Must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15 Submit one letter of recommendation online. Must major in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Preference for students located in Southern California and must be able to attend Toyota scholarship event in Torrance, CA in the spring Enrolling as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the upcoming academic year Students without parents or guardians employed by Toyota Motor Sales USA

HSF/GE Hispanic Forum Scholarship Program

Eligibility Requirements: Be of Hispanic heritage Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired) or be granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Must intend to enroll as an undergraduate Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior or 5th Year Senior in the next academic year and be pursuing first undergraduate degree Must major in one of the following: Accounting, Aeronautics/Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering/Biotechnology, Biology, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybernetics/Robotics, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Finance, Industrial Engineering/Technology, Information Technology (IT/MIS), International Business, Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Marketing, Materials Science/Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, Neuroscience, Nuclear Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Physics, Science, Supply Chain Management, Telecommunications Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME at a four-year U.S. accredited college or university in the geographic locations listed above. Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). DACA applicants must submit household income information. Asian Pacific Community Fund - Verizon Scholarship Awards Program

The Asian Pacific Community Fund partners with Verizon to financially assist students in their pursuit of higher education as they face the challenge of significantly rising costs of obtaining a college degree. These awards will support those who excel academically, are leaders amongst their peers and are making a positive impact in their communities. Eligibility: Students who are residents of California, Oregon or Washington OR students attending college in one of those states High School Senior who plan to enroll as a 1st year college student in a U.S. accredited 4-year college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student majoring in math, engineering, or a science (Please check website for complete listing of majors eligible for this scholarship) Have a minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0

The Chen Foundation Scholarship Program

The Chen Foundation is a private foundation focused on helping economically-challenged youth fulfill their dreams of obtaining a higher education. The scholarship is renewable, allowing scholarship recipients to receive an additional $2,000 award after their first quarter/semester of college if they maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher and active involvement in community service. Eligibility: High school seniors who reside in California Plan to attend a California State University as a 1st year college student Plan to major in math, engineering, or a science Have a minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 Have a household income at or below "Low Income" based on the California Low Income Level The Chen Foundation Scholarship Program provides: Five - $2,000 scholarship awards to incoming 1st year college students attending a California State University Scholarship renewal (an additional $2,000) if the awardee maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA after their 1st quarter/semester of college and an active engagement in community service

The Hawai`i Island New Knowledge Fund (THINK)
