ISF-IIOC Scholarship

ISF supports Islamic organizations and mosques by planning and managing joint scholarships. ISF is honored to host the ISF-IIOC scholarship of the Islamic Institute of Orange County (IIOC). The ISF-IIOC Scholarship program is only open to members and individuals affiliated with this center. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. Each Eligible Applicant Must Be: Muslim and active member of the Muslim Community; Attending an accredited university in the U.S.; Majoring in an ISF supported field of study; Maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average; A Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.; An undergraduate (junior/senior) or of graduate standing.

ISF-AslanMedia Scholarship

The Islamic Scholarship Fund offers a wide range of scholarships based on the fields and majors it supports. ISF also offers many joint scholarships with partner organization that share its common mission and vision. ISF is honored to work with the Reza Aslan and to host the ISF-ASLANMEDIA Scholarship. This scholarship is only open to journalism and media students. Recipients of the ISF-Aslan Media scholarship program are encouraged to intern with that organization. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. Each Eligible Applicant Must Be: Muslim and active member of the Muslim Community; Attending an accredited university in the U.S.; Majoring in an ISF supported field of study; Maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average; A Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.; An undergraduate (junior/senior) or of graduate standing.

ISF-ILLUME Scholarship

The Islamic Scholarship Fund offers a wide range of scholarships based on the fields and majors it supports. ISF also offers many joint scholarships with partner organization that share its common mission and vision. ISF is honored to work with ILLUME Magazine to host the ISF-ILLUME Scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship are encouraged to intern with ILLUME within one year of receiving this scholarship. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. Each Eligible Applicant Must Be: Muslim and active member of the Muslim Community; Attending a accredited university in the U.S.; Majoring in an ISF supported field of study; Maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average; A Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.; An undergraduate (junior/senior) or of graduate standing.

ISF-ING Scholarship

The Islamic Scholarship Fund offers a wide range of scholarships based on the fields and majors it supports. ISF also offers many joint scholarships with partner organization that share its common mission and vision. ISF is honored to work with the Islamic Network Group, ING to host the ISF-ING Scholarship. This scholarship is only open to journalism, education, religious studies, and public affairs students. Recipients of this scholarship are encouraged to intern with ING within one year of receiving this scholarship. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. Each Eligible Applicant Must Be: Muslim and active member of the Muslim Community; Attending an accredited university in the U.S.; Majoring in an ISF supported field of study; Maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average; A Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.; An undergraduate (junior/senior) or of graduate standing.

ISF-Syed Ibrahim Memorial Scholarship For Greater Boston

ISF is pleased to expand its activities to the Greater Boston Region through the ISF-Syed Ibrahim Memorial Scholarship initiated by the Syed family in memory of Syed Ibrahim. This scholarship is open to local residents of the Greater Boston region who upon graduation will remain or return to the region to play a prominent role in their local community through their activism and leadership, developing visionary ideas for the future of their community. In addition, ISF encourages its scholarship recipients to fulfill a volunteer service obligation through relevant internship programs within one year of receiving a scholarship under the direct supervision of ISF and its regional Strategic Partner the Islamic Society Boston Cultural Center, ISBCC. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. Each Eligible Applicant Must Be: Muslim and active member of the Greater Boston Muslim Community; Attending an accredited university in the U.S.; Majoring in an ISF supported field of study; Maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average; A Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.; An undergraduate (junior/senior) or of graduate standing.

Journalism or Communications Scholarship

$8,000 four-year scholarship Ideal candidates have been a member of AQHA or AQHYA for at least one year and are pursuing a college degree in journalism or communications. Recipient must pursue a career in news, editorial or print journalism, photojournalism or a related field. Member must apply during their senior year of high school or while enrolled as a freshman at an accredited college or university. Recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average. Current or previous AQHF scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive this scholarship. Funding for this scholarship will be applied to a four-year undergraduate degree program as specified above.

IFEC

IFEC is a non-profit membership association. Its 250 members include writers and editors, public relations and marketing communications professionals, educators and consultants working within and with the foodservice media. Through its scholarship program, IFEC strives to increase awareness and understanding of career opportunities available in the fields of foodservice and food communications and to encourage the entry of qualified individuals into these fields. A combination of your work experience and current and past education should indicate that you are preparing for a career in writing or public relations within the foodservice or food and beverage industry. This is a key requirement. Examples of careers IFEC wishes to encourage through its scholarships:  Journalist specializing in foodservice or food and beverage  Public relations practitioner for restaurants, foodservice management companies, food or beverage producers, food marketing boards or culinary schools  Food photographer or food stylist working with food, beverage or foodservice accounts  Consultant and freelance writer providing marketing communications services for food, beverage or foodservice clients  Communications specialist promoting and/or writing about nutrition as it relates to foodservice, food or beverage • Careers that do not fit this niche include:  Chef  Chef-instructor  Caterer  Restaurateur  Hotelier

CIC/Anna Chennault Scholarship

PURPOSE To encourage students to pursue journalism as a career. To induce competitors to research, learn and give an opinion on a topical news item and to take a stand on this particular issue. ELIGIBILITY Applicants must be committed to AAJA’s mission. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior that has been accepted to a U.S. college (proof of acceptance required) or a currently enrolled college student. AAJA membership is not required for the application but if selected, the student must sign up for student membership. SELECTION CRITERIA Candidates will be judged on the basis of academic achievement, demonstrated journalistic ability, commitment to the field of journalism and/or sensitivity to Asian American and Pacific Islander Issues. BENEFITS $5,000 will go towards the student’s college education. The selected student will receive travel, lodging and registration to attend AAJA’s national annual convention. Depending on the winner’s area of study, the student will also be paired with a professional print, online or broadcast mentor at the convention to help them network. Please be sure to gather all the required materials before beginning the application. You will be required to submit the following: One copy of an official high school or college transcript Two letters of recommendation from a professional who is familiar with your academic and/or journalism work (a counselor, professor, etc.). Work samples (in PDF, JPG or link formats). You will also have to answer ONE of three essay questions.

Mary Quon Moy Ing Memorial Scholarship

AAJA will award up to $2,000 to a currently enrolled college student or graduating high school senior who is pursuing journalism as a career. Eligibility and Rules: 1. Applicants must be committed to AAJA’s mission. 2. Applicants must demonstrate journalistic excellence, a strong interest in pursing journalism as a career, and a commitment to community involvement. 3. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student enrolled full time with at least 12 credit units each semester for the fall and spring. Applicants must be currently taking or planning to take journalism courses and/or pursing journalism as a career. Selection Criteria: Candidates will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, demonstrated journalistic ability, financial need, commitment to the field of journalism and/or sensitivity to Asian American/Pacific Islander issues. AAJA student membership is encouraged for all applicants and required for the selected scholarship recipients. For membership, please apply online at www.aaja.org.

William Woo Print and Online News Internship Grant

The Print and Online News Internship Grant supports Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) pursuing journalism careers in print and online news, where AAPIs continue to be underrepresented. We encourage all college students who have secured a summer internship to apply for the grant to help defray living costs. The William Woo Internship Fund will award one student $1,000. Eligibility and Rules: 1. Applicants must be committed to AAJA’s mission. 2. Applicants must have a serious interest in pursuing journalism as a career in the print or online field. 3. Applicants must be a full-time college student or recent college graduate. 4. Applicants must have already secured a summer internship at a print or online news outlet/company before applying for this internship grant. 5. AAJA membership is not required to apply, but is strongly encouraged. Student membership will be required for the selected candidate. This stipend is to be used toward living expenses/transportation during the internship. The selected candidate will sign a waiver acknowledging this.

Stanford Chen Internship Grant

The Stanford Chen Internship Fund Grant supports college students needing help to bridge some of the costs that might otherwise keep them from taking an internship and expanding their journalism skills in an internship. AAJA awards one or more news internship grant(s) of $1,750 to current college juniors, seniors and graduate students. The grants are for print, online, broadcast or photography interns at any-sized media outlets (though APPLICANTS interning at small- to medium-sized outlets will be given priority). Eligibility and Rules: 1. Applicants have a serious interest in pursuing journalism as a career. 2. Applicants must have already secured a summer internship before applying for the internship grant. The stipend is to be used toward living expenses and/or transportation during your internship. Accepted applicants will be required to sign a waver acknowledging this. 3. AAJA student membership is strongly encouraged for all applicants, but not required to apply. Those selected to receive grants will be required to sign up for AAJA student membership.
