Nursing Scholarships

Here are some of the Nursing scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

AORN Scholarship Program

Applicant must be an RN and a member of AORN in good standing. Membership must be maintained continuously for 12 months prior to the application deadlines of April 1 and October 1 and throughout the funding period. Membership is considered lapsed if full dues are not received at AORN Headquarters by the last day of the renewal month. Members of the AORN Foundation Board of Trustees and/or staff and the Scholarship Committee are ineligible for scholarship funds. Applicant must submit proof of acceptance or enrollment in a baccalaureate or masters of nursing degree program or a related complimentary field, or doctoral degree program at an accredited institution. Enrollment in a pre-nursing curriculum applicable to admission in a baccalaureate nursing program must be accreditd by the National League of Nursing. Applicants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Payment will be made directly to the student at the end of the funding period upon successful completion of the course, receipt of course grade, and copy of all OTHER receipts for expenses. These must be sent to the AORN Foundation within 30 days of completion of course. Student must receive a B or better to receive payment. Student must sign disclaimer and return to AORN Foundation within five (5) days of receipt of payment. This disclaimer is required by the IRS, failure to do so may jeopardize further scholarship awards.

Charlotte McGuire Scholarship Program

Charlotte McGuire Scholarships are available to nurses who: - Are pursuing a holistic nursing education - Maintain a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) - Have experience and interest in healing and holistic nursing practice - Are member of ANHA (membership history will be verified by headquarters) - 6 months minimum membership for undergraduate degree - 1 years minimum membership for graduate award - Complete the application process

Research Grants

Research Grants are available to AHNA members who: - Are conducting research on topics related to holistic nursing. - Have been members of AHNA for at least 1 year. - Complete the application process (Note: the research grant awards are not given to those completing doctoral dissertations or master's research projects. Persons conducting research as a requirements for a graduate degree are encouraged to apply for the CMG Scholarships to support their work). Grants are competitive and are awarded through the AHNA Research Committee. All applications and proposals are reviewed by the AHNA Research Committee, selected from member educators and researchers and appointed by the National Leadership Council of AHNA.

BSN Completion Scholarships

Successful applicants describe how their nursing practice will change as a result of the pursuant degree. Additionally, the baccalaureate applicant describes contributions to acute or critical care nursing which include work, community and profession-related activities. In addition, applicants must have/be: - AACN member in good standing. - Active RN license. - Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. - Currently working in critical care or have worked in critical care for at least one year in the last three years (Full time or an equivalent equal to 1950 hours). - Previous recipients of the Educational Advancement Scholarship are eligible to reapply, but may receive only two scholarships, one per year. - Members of the Board of Directors, AACN staff and AACN volunteers participating in the application review process are ineligible. - Junior/upper division status for the following fall semester. - Currently enrolled in an NLN or CCNE accredited baccalaureate degree program in nursing.

Graduate Scholarships

Successful applicants describe how their nursing practice will change as a result of the pursuant degree. In addition applicant must have/be: - AACN member in good standing - Active RN license. - Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. - Currently working in critical care or have worked in critical care for at least one year in the last three years (Full time or an equivalent equal to 1950 hours). - Previous recipients of the Educational Advancement Scholarship are eligible to reapply, but may receive only two scholarships, one per year. - Members of the Board of Directors, AACN staff and AACN volunteers participating in the application review process are ineligible. - Graduate of a baccalaureate degree program. - Current enrollment in a planned course of graduate study leading to a master's or doctoral degree.

Schwartz Award

The American College of Legal Medicine has an annual Student Writing Competition in which $1,000 cash awards are made for the outstanding original paper on Legal Medicine. All papers submitted will receive consideration for publication in the Journal of Legal Medicine or other medical legal publications. Applicant Criteria 1. Authors must be currently enrolled in an accredited law, medical, podiatry, nursing, dental school, or program of health science or health care administration school in the United States or Canada. 2. No paper which has been previously published in any form will be considered. What is Legal Medicine Legal medicine is the professional and academic discipline which concerns itself with legal aspects of medical science, medical practice and other health care delivery problems. Practitioners of the specialty have training, knowledge and expertise sufficient to address the scope of the specialty from a scholarly, scientific (research) and practical perspective.

Letourneau Award

The American College of Legal Medicine has an annual Student Writing Competition in which $1,000 cash awards are made for the outstanding original paper on Legal Medicine. All papers submitted will receive consideration for publication in the Journal of Legal Medicine or other medical legal publications. Applicant Criteria 1. Authors must be currently enrolled in an accredited law, medical, podiatry, nursing, dental school, or program of health science or health care administration school in the United States or Canada. 2. No paper which has been previously published in any form will be considered. Nursing Research Fellowship

Requirements: Briefly describe, in abstract form, the question that you propose to study, its association to Myasthenia Gravis or related neuromuscular conditions, and how you still approach the project. Applicants and sponsoring institutions must comply with policies governing the protection of human subjects, the humane care of laboratory animals, and the inclusion of minorities in study populations.

Eight and Forty Nursing Scholarships

General Requirements: 1. Registered Nurses who are graduates of an accredited school of nursing, or will be by deadline of application. 2. Registered Nurses with a desire to continue their studies in the field of Lung and Respiratory disease nursing either on a part-time or a full-time basis. 3. Evidence of acceptance by an accredited school of nursing which will enable an applicant to fulfill the purpose for which the Scholarship was established. 4. Three (3) letters of reference. 5. After receiving a scholarship, submit a letter of acceptance from your chosen school and a copy of your class registration. 6. A current address is essential. Personal Qualifications: - Qualities of leadership - United States Citizen - Freedom to pursue full-time employment

Nurses' Educational Fund Award

To qualify for an NEF award, you must be: - a registered nurse; - a member of a national, professional nursing association; - enrolled in or applying to a professionally NLNAC or CCNE accredited masters program in nursing, or at the doctoral level, in nursing or a nursing-related program; - a full-time student at the masters degree level; full- or part-time at the doctoral level; - a U.S. citizen or have declared official intention of becoming one. - GRE or MAT scores are required. NEF considers academic excellence the first criteria for its awards; evidence of current and future service to the profession is also highly important.

Scholarships for Emigres in the Health Professions

This program will provide scholarships to emigres from the former Soviet Union to train in medicine, dentistry, dental hygiene, nursing, pharmacy, occupational and physical therapy, and physician assistant programs. Applicants must be female and live within a 50-mile radius of New York City. Grants are awarded based on financial need and academic merit.
