Information Technology Scholarships

The Imagine America Foundation created its Imagine America High School Scholarship Program in 1998 to help provide scholarships for high school students. This annual scholarship program has helped thousands of high school seniors afford a career education at hundreds of career schools across the United States. Each year, every high school in the United States and Puerto Rico may nominate up to five graduating seniors to receive a $1,000 Imagine America scholarship!

GeneTex believes in accelerating scientific advancement and the notion that the genesis of future discoveries begins with the support of young scientists now. The GeneTex Scholarship Program will award a $2000 (USD) scholarship to students pursuing a STEM undergraduate or graduate degree. The scholarship will be awarded to one student twice a year.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA - Applicants MUST meet all of the following criteria: 1. Must have a 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA). 2. Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited four year college/university, or a full- time student at a two year college enrolled in a program leading to an academic degree. 3. Majoring in one of the following college disciplines at a accredited 4-year college or university: * Computer Science * Computer Engineering *Other majors will be considered if it is evident that the applicant demonstrates a strong academic course of study that includes a high volume of computer science related courses and/or computer science related research. 4. Must be a member of an American Indian tribe, Alaska Native or Native Hawaiian or otherwise considered to be an American Indian by the tribe with which affiliation is claimed; or is at least 1/4 American Indian blood; or is at least 1/4 Alaskan Native; or considered to be an Alaskan Native by an Alaskan Native group to which affiliation is claimed. 5. The LITA/Ex Libris Student Writing Award is given for the best unpublished manuscript on a topic in the area of libraries and information technology written by a student or students enrolled in an ALA-accredited library and information studies graduate program.The purpose of this award, established July 2000, is to recognize superior student writing and to enhance the professional development of students through publication of the winning article in LITA's refereed journal, Information Technology and Libraries ( ITAL).The winner will receive $1,000 and a certificate. In the case of joint authorship, the award will be split among the authors and each will receive a certificate. The winning article will be published in a future issue of ITAL.The article can be written on any aspect of libraries and information technology, including digital libraries, metadata, authorization and authentication, electronic journals and electronic publishing, telecommunications, distributed systems and networks, computer security and intellectual property rights, technical standards, geographic information systems, software engineering, universal access to technology, futuristic forecasting, library consortia, vendor relations, and technology and the arts.Manuscripts will be selected based on the following criteria: relevance to libraries and information technology, timeliness, originality of ideas, persuasiveness of arguments, quality of writing, clarity of presentation, and contribution to the continuing education of the LITA membership. Manuscripts may be applicable to a variety of library settings, including public, academic, special libraries, school media centers, and library and information studies programs. Unselected manuscripts will be returned to the author(s).

The LITA/Christian (Chris) Larew Memorial Scholarship, begun in 1999, is awarded jointly on an annual basis currently in the amount of $3,000, by the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA), a division of the American Library Association, and Baker & Taylor. The scholarship is designed to encourage the entry of qualified persons into the library and information technology field, who plan to follow a career in that field, and who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a vision in pursuit of library and information technology. This scholarship is for study in an ALA Accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) program.Candidates should illustrate their qualifications for this scholarship with a statement indicating the nature of their library experience, letters of reference, and a personal statement of the applicant's view of what he or she can bring to the profession, emphasizing experiences that indicate a potential for leadership and commitment to library technology. Candidates must not have earned more than 12 hours towards a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA Accredited MLS program. Economic need is considered when all other criteria are equal.The winner is announced and introduced, if present, at the LITA President's Program during the Annual Conference of the American Library Association.

The LITA/LSSI Minority Scholarship, established in 1994, is awarded annually by the Library and Information Technology Association, a division of the American Library Association, and Library Systems and Services, Inc., in the amount of $2,500.00.The scholarship is designed to encourage the entry of qualified persons into the library and automation field who plan to follow a career in that field; who demonstrate potential in, and a strong commitment to the use of automated systems in libraries; and who are qualified members of a principal minority group (American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian or Pacific Islander, African-American, or Hispanic). The recipient must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen. This scholarship is for study in an ALA Accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) program.Candidates should illustrate their qualifications for this scholarship with a statement indicating the nature of library experience, by letters of reference, and by the personal statement of the applicant's view of what he or she can bring to the profession, emphasizing experiences which indicate a potential for leadership and commitment to library automation. The Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a student of Asian or Pacific background who is enrolled, or has been accepted into a master's or doctoral degree program in library and/or information science at a library school accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).Eligibility Criteria for the Award * Applicant must be attending or admitted into a master's degree or doctoral program in library and/or information science at a library school accredited by ALA. * Applicant must be in library school by Fall. * Applicant may be either a full-time or part-time student. * Applicant must be of Asian/Pacific Islander heritage. * Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U. S. or Canada. * Scholarship recipients may not receive more than one scholarship award. * Successful candidate must join, be an active member of APALA, and serve on the Scholarship Committee the following year.

AFCEA DC awards multiple single-year standard scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each, and one single-year scholarship in the amount of $8,000 to Metro-area high school seniors in the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia and Maryland area. Second-year students in area community colleges who are entering a four-year college may apply for one-time scholarships of $2,000. Scholarship awards are provided to qualified students pursuing degrees in the C4I-related fields of engineering (electrical, computer, chemical, aerospace or systems); electronics; mathematics; computer science; physics; science education; mathematics education; technology management; or management information systems.

Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Must intend to enroll as an undergraduate Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior or 5th Year Senior in the next academic year and be pursuing first undergraduate degree Must major in one of the following: Accounting, Aeronautics/Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering/Biotechnology, Biology, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybernetics/Robotics, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, Finance, Industrial Engineering/Technology, Information Technology (IT/MIS), International Business, Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Marketing, Materials Science/Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, Neuroscience, Nuclear Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Physics, Science, Supply Chain Management, Telecommunications Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME at a four-year U.S. accredited college or university in the geographic locations listed above. The Asian Pacific Community Fund partners with Verizon to financially assist students in their pursuit of higher education as they face the challenge of significantly rising costs of obtaining a college degree. These awards will support those who excel academically, are leaders amongst their peers and are making a positive impact in their communities. Eligibility: Students who are residents of California, Oregon or Washington OR students attending college in one of those states High School Senior who plan to enroll as a 1st year college student in a U.S. accredited 4-year college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student majoring in math, engineering, or a science (Please check website for complete listing of majors eligible for this scholarship) Have a minimum cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0

In the spirit of Savvy's guiding principles, we are proud to announce the Savvy Apps Scholarship. We are making a $1,000 scholarship available to the applicant that can best demonstrate our guiding principles by providing written examples of how they exemplify each of the guiding principles in their daily lives. The scholarship is open to all graduating high school seniors through college sophomores pursuing a degree in design or development at an accredited university in the United States with a passion for creating apps.
