Hospitality Management Scholarships

To apply for an EF FCSI Scholarship you must meet the following: 1. Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university with hospitality/foodservice as your major. 2. Maintain at least a 3.0 grade point (GPA) on a scale of 4.0. 3. Have completed an internship or have a minimum of 3-years of practical work/education in hospitality industry. 4. Completely and honestly complete the application. 5. Include a cover letter stating your intended use of the award, including a list of extracurricular activities and organizations outside of school and your personal statement of career goals related to hospitality and a short autobiography. Must be no more than two pages in length, typed double space. The completed Application must include: 1. Application completed in full 2. Supporting documents 3. Two recommendations a. Letter of recommendation by a FACULTY Member or INSTRUCTOR b. Letter of recommendation from an EMPLOYER or INDUSTRY SPONSOR 4.Official transcript of grades from the educational institution where you are currently enrolled (if undergraduate must have completed two years of study. Selection Criteria 1. The Board of Directors of the FCSI Division selects scholarship recipients based on scholarship achievements and letters of recommendation. 2. The amount to be awarded will depend on the amount of scholarship funds available and the number of requests received 3. Past recipients are eligible to reapply, however new applicants will be given preference.

Eligibility: To be considered eligible for a Chefs4Students.org Culinary Grant, you must be enrolled and in good standing at an accredited Culinary School or Institution in the United States or abroad six weeks prior to any given grant release date. US citizenship is not a requirement. The combination of your work experience, prior education or training and current course of study should indicate preparedness for the pursuit of a career in the culinary arts. You should have a strong academic record, good character references and demonstrate financial need. Majors considered for our grants include culinary arts, pastry and baking, restaurant management, dietetics, nutrition, food science and related studies. Awards Selection: The number of awards given in a year vary depending on donations, etc. A committee made up of members of the Chefs4Students forum and our advisory board will review the applications and select the recipients. We give out awards on or around April 1st. Those applications must be postmarked February 15th. Only completed applications will be considered. You must send in a completed application and an essay of at least 500 words telling us why the culinary field is one you wish to pursue and your goals in this field. You must submit an official transcript of your current or last year of study (high school transcripts accepted) and two letters of recommendation from a supervisor, teacher, advisor or culinary professional familiar with your skills. Catherine W. Pierce scholarship was established to support students who are majoring in disciplines within the Arts and/or History. Mrs. Pierce had a great interest in helping deserving students pursue the fields of Art or History. The award amount is up to $5,000. Applicant Qualifications To qualify for a scholarship, you must: • Be a permanent resident of the State of Illinois (under the age of 30) • Be accepted and plan to enroll in an accredited culinary school, college or university • Enrolled as a full-time or substantial part-time student, taking a minimum of 9 credit hours each term. • Major in a culinary, restaurant management or foodservice related program Required Documentation To be considered for a scholarship, your application packet must include the following: 1. Signed copy of application (Typed and fully complete. Electronic signatures are accepted.) 2. Official transcripts for all academic institutions attended. If you are a graduating high school senior, unofficial copies are acceptable, until official copies are released. 3. One essay (250 words minimum) 4. Two signed recommendation forms. The letters must be on company or school letterhead. You may submit one additional recommendation. • One from an employer or industry professional • One from an instructor in the restaurant and or foodservice industry . 5. Photocopied documentation of honors and achievements 6. A copy of your college curriculum (from your college catalog) with the number of credit hours detailed. Please do NOT include the entire catalog. 7. A copy of the letter telling you that you have been accepted at a culinary school, college or university. 8. Verification of work experience. Work experience can include any paid employment, volunteer experiences, community service hours, or kitchen/lab experience as part of your education. You will be judged on the work hours that are verified by the following documents. No other documents will be accepted. • Copies of paycheck stubs. Do not send copies of W-2 forms; • A letter from your employer, supervisor, or teacher verifying your total work hours. It must be on company or school letterhead. Make sure you tell them to include the number of hours you worked. 9. Documentation sent separately from the application must be postmarked by the application date or your application will be disqualified.

This scholarship rewards students interested in business and entrepreneurship. Four scholarships will be awarded in total. One recipient will be selected from each of the following schools: Culinary Institute of America, Johnson & Wales, Cornell School of Hotel Administration; Cornell University- Food Industry Management. Award amount: $2500 Who Can Apply: Culinary Institute of America, Johnson & Wales, Cornell School of Hotel Administration and Cornell University - Food Industry Management students.

Recipients are selected from eligible high school students. Preference given to students attending a community college. Recipients should represent diverse backgrounds, as well as, diverse geographical areas. Preference is for students who attend a high school participating in the Healthy Schools program (list of High Schools will be forwarded by Yum-o') “My first job was as a waitress and I find the skills I learned then guiding me to continued success today, in all aspects of my life,” said Rachael. “Now, I wear many hats, but my main function remains the same -- cooking quality meals and serving my customer. I am so proud to be part of providing the means for kids to have the same opportunities as I did, to excel in this industry.” Award amount: $2,500 or varies - other awards based on activities Who Can Apply: This scholarship is open to all individuals.

This scholarship is for anyone attending Cuyahoga Community College or Working at Sammy’s.

This scholarship is for any student pursuing an education in a restaurant, foodservice, or hospitality related major. First preference given to students attending a school in Kentucky, followed by any culinary arts students at Johnson & Wales University or the Culinary Institute of America, followed by Hotel and Restaurant Administration majors at Indiana University- Purdue and Bloomington, Indianapolis Vocational Technical College, University of Denver, Wake Technical College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Southeast Community College, Kendall College or College of DuPage. Award amount: $2,500 Who Can Apply: First preference given to students attending a school in Kentucky, followed by any culinary arts students at Johnson & Wales University or the Culinary Institute of America, followed by Hotel and Restaurant Administration majors at Indiana University- Purdue and Bloomington, Indianapolis Vocational Technical College, University of Denver, Wake Technical College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Southeast Community College, Kendall College or College of DuPage.

NAFEM is pleased to support the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) with an endowed scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a current student(s) in an established culinary program who show an interest in the equipment & supplies side of the foodservice industry while pursuing an education in a restaurant, foodservice, or hospitality related major. Award amount: $3,000 annually and (2) $10,000 in even years Who Can Apply: Student(s) in an established culinary program who show an interest in the equipment & supplies side of the foodservice industry while pursuing an education in a restaurant, foodservice, or hospitality related major.

This scholarship is for any student pursuing an education in a restaurant, foodservice, or hospitality related major. Eligible recipients must be Illinois residents and be attending a school in Illinois. The Chicago Foodservice marketing Club is an organization composed of manufacturers, packers, processors, distributors, brokers, advertising agencies, consultants, and the trade press; all of whom are engaged in servicing the foodservice market. CFMC is a vital and very important part of the industry in the Chicago area, dedicated to education, excellence, and comradeship. The club supports the industry by funding student scholarships through the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. Award amount: $2,500 Who Can Apply: Students who are IL residents attending an IL school.
