NRAEF Scholarship for ManageFirst Program® Students

STEP #1: Make sure you are qualified for this scholarship. Please read through the qualifications below. If you don’t meet ALL of these qualifications you are not eligible to apply.To be eligible to apply, you must:· Be a citizen or permanent resident* of the United States of America· Be a college student currently enrolled full-time or substantial part-time (minimum of 9 credit hours) in a foodservice related program at an accredited culinary school, college, or university· Have completed at least one grading term of your college or post-secondary program· Be enrolled for two consecutive terms or not entering your last semester before graduating· Have earned at least one ManageFirst certificate, not including ServSafe® Food Safety and ServSafe Alcohol®.STEP #2: Complete the required essays for the Scholarship for ManageFirst Program Students.The two essays are required as part of the scholarship application packet and must be submitted with your printed and signed application form and other required documents as outlined in these instructions. The Essays must be typed and double-spaced. Please put your name on the top of each page of your essays. Your essays must address each item in the essay questions.Essay #1: Personal statement (Word Count: 150-300 words) What is your ultimate career goal in the restaurant/foodservice industry? Tell us about your background and experience. Discuss your education and work experience. How will your background and experience help you to be successful in your career goal? Discuss your educational, work, and personal plans that will help you to reach your career goals.Essay #2 (Word Count: 350-750 words) Pick one of the following current issues that effect the restaurant industry: sustainability, food safety, or nutrition. Briefly discuss how the issue effects the industry. Al Schuman Ecolab Undergraduate Entrepreneurial Scholarship

The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) and the Al Schuman Ecolab Undergraduate Entrepreneurial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships ranging from $3,500 to $7,500 to college students who are enrolled in a foodservice related program at a select set of colleges.This scholarship is targeted toward students who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit through a written essay. Chosenrecipients must be highly ambitious, dedicated, innovative, and creative. The recipients must not only have a vision butthe skills and plans to realize their vision.To be eligible to apply, you must:· Be a citizen or permanent resident* of the United States of America· Be accepted or enrolled in one of the following colleges (see linked colleges field)· Have completed at least one grading term of your college or post-secondary program· Be enrolled for two consecutive terms or not entering your last semester before graduating· Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent) OR a GED average standard score of 470 or higher.This essay is required as part of the scholarship application packet and must be submitted with your printed and signed application form and other required documents as outlined in the instructions. Your essay must address each item in the essay question.An entrepreneur is usually described as someone who is highly ambitious, dedicated, innovative, creative, and refuses defeat. An entrepreneur not only has a vision but can develop a plan to realize their vision.To demonstrate your entrepreneurial spirit, write an essay addressing the following items:1. Describe either a past entrepreneurial project of any type or a future restaurant/foodservice related entrepreneurial project, such as starting a new restaurant, developing a new product or menu.2. Explain why it was/is innovative and provide an example of how thinking outside the box enhanced or will enhance your project.3. Describe how you brought or will bring your project to fruition.4. Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani/Giacomo Bologna Scholarship

STEP #1: Make sure you are qualified for this scholarship. Please read through the qualifications below. If you don’t meet ALL of these qualifications you are not eligible to apply.To be eligible to apply, you must:· Be a citizen or permanent resident* of the United States of America· Be an undergraduate student who is currently enrolled full-time in an accredited culinary school, college, or university· Demonstrate a commitment to Italian Viticulture· Have at least two years of culinary experience and/or viticulture training, working directly with a chef in the preparationof food or with a sommelier. This experience must be supported by two letters of recommendation by culinary professional who can attest to your talent, interest and experience.STEP #2: Complete the required essay for the Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani/Giacomo Bologna ScholarshipThis essay is required as part of the scholarship application packet and must be submitted with your printed and signed application and other required documents as outlined in these instructions. University Entrance Scholarship

Areas of Studies: Hospitality, Hotel, Tourism Who Can Apply * High school students in their final year of school and who are enrolling in September of this year in a university degree program in one of the above mentioned areas of training or study. This only applies to universities who offer the above areas of studies in their first year. * Third year university students who are enrolling in September at the above mentioned areas of studies. This applies to universities whose above mentioned areas of studies start in the third year, not in the first year of a degree program * 2 + 2 program – college students who have finished a 2-year program in college and will be starting their third year in September for another 2-year program in a university * Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents in Canada How to ApplyPlease submit your completed application form and the following documents to the Awards Officer or your professor. Points assigned to each of the criteria (from a total of 100 points) are as follows: * Work experience (20): based on quality and length of work experience with extra points for foodservice, hospitality, and culinary-related experience and for increased levels of responsibility * Scholarship record (20): based on grade point average * Leadership and ability to get along with others (25): based on work experience, letters of reference and responses to application questions. * Professional promise (25): based on work experience, letters of reference and responses to application questions * Discretionary points (10): given to the discretion of each judge and based amongst other things on quality of application (neatness, imagination and effort put into the presentation).

Working Professional Scholarship

This is a scholarship program intended to reward lodging employees who seek to expand their education and knowledge in their current job positions, or who otherwise seek to expand their education and knowledge in the lodging industry. Generally, this scholarship is available to individuals who want to further their career and are enrolled in a lodging industry education program.Instructions and policies for all applicants:All applications must be filled out properly and the correct documentation. All applicants must be a California resident. All scholarships are self-nominated. An interview will be required (either in person or by phone). Scholarships are awarded in the range of $500 to $1500 per academic year to successful applicants. Must have graduated from high school with a 2.7 or better GPA (based on the four point system). Each scholarship is for one academic year. They may be renewed by re-application. For transfer or university students, the scholarship will be activated after the first completed semester. All scholarships are merit based, however, if two candidates are otherwise equally qualified, preference may be given to applicants demonstrating a financial need. Failure to meet all requirements may cause the CH&LA Education Foundation to revoke a scholarship and/or be repaid by the recipient.

College Entrance Scholarship

Areas of Studies: Accommodation, Chef, Cook, Culinary, Events, Pastry Chef, Food and Beverage, Golf Club, Hospitality, Hotel, Resort, Restaurant, Tourism, Catering ManagementWho Can Apply * High school students in their final year of school and who are enrolling in September of this year in a minimum two-year college diploma program in one of the above mentioned areas of training or study. * Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residentsNOTE: Please see the areas of studies for the above mentioned scholarship.How to ApplyComplete the application form legibly and send to the Awards Officer in our participating list of colleges along with the following documents. Kevin Johnson Memorial Scholarship

The Kevin Johnson Memorial Scholarship is intended specifically for students enrolled in high schools which have active lodging management programs - either National Academy Foundation programs or the Lodging Management Program developed by the Education Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize those schools and provide incentives to the scholarship recipients to continue with their education and seek employment in the lodging industry.All applications must be filled out properly and the correct documentation. All applicants must be a California resident. All scholarships are self-nominated. An interview will be required (either in person or by phone). Scholarships are awarded in the range of $500 to $1500 per academic year to successful applicants. Must have graduated from high school with a 2.7 or better GPA (based on the four point system). Each scholarship is for one academic year. They may be renewed by re-application. For transfer or university students, the scholarship will be activated after the first completed semester. All scholarships are merit based, however, if two candidates are otherwise equally qualified, preference may be given to applicants demonstrating a financial need.

Richard Schroeck Hospitality Engineer Scholarship

This scholarship is intended specifically for hourly hospitality engineers and maintenance personnel, as well as their dependents. More specifically for hourly hospitality engineers and maintenance personnel who are employed in lodging establishments which are members in good standing of the California Hotel & Lodging Association. It does so by providing scholarships to those employees or their dependents who have demonstrated a desire to either make engineering/maintenance or the lodging industry a career, and who have applied to or are enrolled in either a two or four year college or program related to facility engineering and/or operating maintenance. (These programs can include courses such as refrigeration or electrical maintenance, for example, and they do not have to be of any minimum length.)All applications must be filled out properly and the correct documentation. All applicants must be a California resident. All scholarships are self-nominated. An interview will be required (either in person or by phone). Must have graduated from high school with a 2.7 or better GPA (based on the four point system). Or industry experience for Richard Schroeck Scholarship . Each scholarship is for one academic year. They may be renewed by re-application. For transfer or university students, the scholarship will be activated after the first completed semester. All scholarships are merit based, however, if two candidates are otherwise equally qualified, preference may be given to applicants demonstrating a financial need. Failure to meet all requirements may cause the CH&LA Education Foundation to revoke a scholarship and/or be repaid by the recipient.

CH&LA General Scholarship

The General Scholarship is a merit-based program designed to reward those who have demonstrated a desire to make the lodging industry a career, and applied to or are enrolled in an accredited two or four year college or university program of lodging management. The General Scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance to those who desire a lodging industry career. Scholarships will be paid directly to the students in two equal installments each academic year.All applications must be filled out properly and the correct documentation. All applicants must be a California resident. All scholarships are self-nominated. An interview will be required (either in person or by phone). Scholarships are awarded in the range of $500 to $1500 per academic year to successful applicants. Must have graduated from high school with a 2.7 or better GPA (based on the four point system)Each scholarship is for one academic year. They may be renewed by re-application. For transfer or university students, the scholarship will be activated after the first completed semester. All scholarships are merit based, however, if two candidates are otherwise equally qualified, preference may be given to applicants demonstrating a financial need.

NRAEF ProStart® National Certificate of Achievement Scholarship

STEP #1: Make sure you are qualified for this scholarship. Please read through the qualifications below. If you don’t meet ALL of these qualifications you are not eligible to apply. To be eligible to apply, you must: · Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America · Be a graduating high school senior · Have earned a ProStart National Certificate of Achievement. Plan to attend full-time or substantial part-time (minimum of 9 credit hours) in a foodservice related program at an accredited culinary school, college, or university STEP #2: Complete the required case study for the ProStart National Certificate of Achievement Scholarship. This case study is required as part of the scholarship application packet and must be submitted with your printed and signed application and other required documents as outlined in these instructions. Please put your name on the top of each page of the case study. The case study must be between 250 - 500 words, typed and double spaced. Case Study: You are applying for a job in your favorite area of foodservice or the restaurant industry. Write a cover letter to apply for this job. Your cover letter should be written in business letter format. Use your current qualifications, background, and experience. Your cover letter should include the following information. 1. The position you are applying for and what kind of company/restaurant (if it is fine dining, etc). 2. Briefly explain why you are interested in the position. 3. Describe your current qualifications, background, and experience. Provide examples of your skills and training. 4. Discuss what qualities you can bring to the company/restaurant and how your skills will fit the requirements of the position and will benefit the employer. 5. NRAEF Academic Scholarship for High School Seniors and General Education Diploma (GED) Graduates

This scholarship is for students who will be first-time freshmen including graduating high school seniors, GED graduates and high school graduates enrolling in college for the first time. To be eligible to apply, you must: · Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America · Be a first time freshman. This includes: Graduating high school seniors GED graduates enrolling in college for the first time. High school graduates enrolling in college for the first time. · Be accepted and plan to enroll in an accredited culinary school, college or university. You must: Enroll as a full-time or substantial part-time student taking a minimum of 9 credit hours each term. Major in culinary, restaurant management, or other food service related major. Plan to remain in school for at least two consecutive terms. STEP #2: Complete the required essays for the Academic Scholarship for High School Seniors and GED Graduates The two essays are required as part of the scholarship application packet and must be submitted with your printed and signed application form and other required documents as outlined in these instructions. AH&LEF Annual Scholarship Grant Program

Eligibility: * Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the upcoming fall and spring semesters, or just the fall semester if graduating in December. * A junior or senior in a baccalaureate program (although sophomores can be nominated to receive a scholarship in their junior year) and in the case of Associate programs the nominee must have completed one full year. * A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 * A U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident.
