Health Care Scholarships

Here are some of the Health Care scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

The Saltzman Scholarship

Undergraduate or graduate student focused on specific career goal, preferably in the health care field. Student should have sense of giving back to community. Renewable.For Jewish students in Greater Cleveland. Awards are available to both full and part-time students. Students are awarded up to a maximum of $4,000 per academic year in the form of loans and grants based on the total applicant pool, total need and total available funds.To be eligible for consideration for aid, a family's income should not exceed $85,000 annually. Exceptions to this rule are made in unique circumstances. Funds are distributed each August for the fall term. Students can apply once a year.

Kelly T. Lawrence Scholarship

Eligibility:# Open to: All undergraduate members of Beta Xi/UCLA# Additional Criteria: First preference given to health sciences majors at UCLA. Second preference given to undergraduate members of other Theta chapters in California studying health sciences.

Larry Matfay Cultural Heritage Scholarship

Award: $1,000; one recipient per year Deadline: June 1 Requirements: 2.5 GPA or equivalent Full-time student status Eligible Majors: Health Care Anthropology History Alaska Native/American Indian studies Rural Development Linguistics KEF eligibility requirements Applicants must be Alaska Native shareholders or descendants (may be adopted) of the Koniag Region. All applicants who are not currently enrolled in the Koniag, Inc. descendant or shareholder database must complete the descendant database form and submit the form to Shareholder Relations at Koniag, Inc. Regeneron Science Talent Search

Regeneron STS is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science research competition for high school students. Started in 1942 as the Westinghouse Science Talent Search, Regeneron STS recognizes and empowers our nation’s most promising young scientists who are developing ideas that could solve society’s most urgent challenges. Each year, nearly 2,000 students enter the Regeneron STS, submitting original research in critically important scientific fields of study. Unique among high school competitions, the Regeneron STS focuses on identifying, inspiring, and engaging the nation’s most promising future leaders in STEM. Eligibility: High school seniors living in the United States, and US citizens living abroad, who have completed independent research projects are encouraged to apply online for the chance to win up to $250,000! Youth for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention-Leadership Recognition Program

The purpose of the Youth for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Leadership Recognition Program is to recognize youth, ages 16 to 24, who are community leaders in promoting healthy adolescent sexuality and healthy lifestyle choices for other youth, and to support their health professions education. Scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a health professions degree. Eligible applicants may receive up to $25,000 over a five-year period, and would have a service obligation of 2 years. This program is made possible by a grant from The California Wellness Foundation.

Albert W. Dent Student Scholarship

The Albert W. Dent Student Scholarship was established to: Provide financial aid and increase the enrollment of minority students in healthcare management graduate programs. (Minority qualification is based on the definition by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.) Encourage students through structured, formalized study to obtain positions in middle and upper levels of healthcare management. You are eligible to apply for an Albert W. Dent Student Scholarship if you meet all of the following criteria: You are a Student Associate of the American College of Healthcare Executives and are in goodstanding. You are a minority student who is enrolled for full-time study for the upcoming fall term, which is your final year in a healthcare management graduate program. You can demonstrate financial need. ALCOA Foundation Academic Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to registered nurses who are pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree to prepare for a career in occupational and environmental health. Amount Awarded: $1500 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: 1 year; may be renewed up to 2 additional years. Eligibility: This program is open to registered nurses who are enrolled in a baccalaureate, master's, or doctoral degree program. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in, and commitment to, occupational and environmental health. Selection is based on 2 letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay on the applicant's professional goals as they relate to the academic activity and the field of occupational and environmental health. Additional Information: Funding for this program is provided by the Alcoa Foundation.

Gerald Peete Fellowship

In 2006, the Gerald Peete Fellowship will be awarded to American Indian/Alaska Native graduates studying medicine. (If insufficient medical student applicants appear, the remaining fellowships will go to applicants in other health-related fields.) Eligibility: Be an enrolled member of a United States federally-recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group or possess one-fourth degree Indian blood from a federally-recognized tribe. Be enrolled full-time in a Masters, doctoral or professional degree program at an accredited college or university within the United States. Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) from the United States Department of Education and the office of the university you plan to attend. Application Procedure: Note: Application for the Gerald Peete Fellowship additionally provides eligibility for other AIGC-administered graduate/professional awards, especially the AIGC Fellowship. The possibility of an applicant being granted multiple awards by AIGC also exists, especially as regards smaller-amount awards. You need only complete one application. Submit the following: A completed AIGC Fellowship Application. A 250-word typed essay as described in the application packet. A Financial Need Form (FNF) completed by the college or university financial aid office. A Tribal Eligibility Certification (TEC).

Inaffit, LLC NATUREAL Health Is Greater Than Wealth

If you are in need of supplemental assistance for college, the Inaffit, LLC NATUREAL Health Is Greater Than Wealth Scholarship will make it easier for you to achieve your dream! Scholarships are available for high school seniors and undergraduate students that completed two years of college pursuing a degree in medicine, nursing, dental, research, nutrition or other health-related program.

Basic Midwifery Scholarships

To provide financial assistance for midwifery education to student members of the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Amount Awarded: $3000 Number Awarded: 1 or more each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to members of the sponsoring organization who are currently enrolled in an accredited basic midwife education program and have successfully completed 1 academic semester/quarter or 1 clinical module. Selection is based on leadership potential, financial need, academic history, and potential for future professional contribution to the organization.

Save a Life Scholarship

FADONA/LTC Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to individuals employed in long-term care in Florida who are interested in continuing their education. Amount Awarded: $500 Number Awarded: 1 or more each year. Duration: 1 year. Eligibility: This program is open to currently licensed RN's, LPN's, or CNA's employed in the long-term care industry in Florida. RN's must be currently accepted or enrolled in a baccalaureate or master's degree program in nursing, gerontology program, undergraduate or graduate program in health care management, or nurse practitioner program. LPN's must be currently accepted or enrolled in an RN program or undergraduate health care management program. CNA's must be currently accepted or enrolled in an RN or LPN program. All applicants must have at least 2 years of employment in the long-term care field. They must be either a member FADONA/LTC or sponsored by a member. Financial need is not considered in the selection process.
