Graphic Arts Scholarships

Here are some of the Graphic Arts scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Green/Sustainable Design Scholarship

Aware of increasing environmental concerns worldwide, the IFDA Educational Foundation established a scholarship for a student focusing on the evolving green/sustainable field of study. Sustainable design is the development of innovative ways to create living spaces that are energy efficient and feature green/sustainable materials, fabrications and products. The student applying for this scholarship is planning to become an educated participant in the green movement. Paying equal attention to both sustainability factors and design aesthetics, the student should be demonstrating creative use of green products and eco-friendly furnishings in class projects. The student is familiar with current information in the green/sustainable field, is applying this knowledge in class work and has a goal of seeking a future LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accreditation. ELIGIBILITY/GUIDELINES All applicants must have completed four design courses in post-secondary education at the time of application and be majoring in Interior Design or a related field. The completed application packet must include a sealed transcript of course work that verifies full-time status and shows your GPA. Transcript may be sent separately. Application accepted each year between March 1 and postmarked no later than March 31. Winner will be notified by July 31. See application form for further requirements.

Four Year College Degree Scholarship Program

This scholarship is for qualified full-time college students, entering their third or fourth year of study, who are pursuing a degree to prepare for a career in the tag and label manufacturing industry. Who is eligible? Sophomores or juniors who demonstrate interest in entering the tag and label industry and will attend a 4 year accredited college or university on a full-time basis during their junior or senior year are encouraged to apply. What other criteria does the student have to meet? demonstrate interest in entering the tag and label industry major course work should include those courses which are appropriate for the tag and label manufacturing industry, Management, Sales/Marketing, Graphic Arts, Graphic Design and Production exhibit proficiency in overall academics (a minimum of 3.00 GPA) provide an official college transcript for all coursework completed in the freshman and sophomore years (sent by the college directly to TLMI) possess excellent character including work ethic, honesty and integrity. (Required references from three persons, who are not family members, should speak to these traits.) Submit a one page, typed, personal statement including: Personal information, including any special circumstances, interests and activities Financial circumstances, including financial aid you are receiving and your educational budget Career and/or educational goals and how they relate to the tag and label industry Employment experience Reasons you should be selected for this award Application deadline: March 31

Member Company Employee Scholarship Program

ELIGIBILITY: The applicant must be a full-time employee of a TLMI member company. The applicant must be attending an accredited college or university either part-time or full-time. The applicant must be able to demonstrate interest in remaining in the tag and label industry. Major course work should include those courses which are appropriate for the tag and label manufacturing industry. Such courses might include: • Management • Sales/Marketing • Graphic Arts • Graphic Design • Production The applicant must exhibit proficiency in overall academics (a minimum of 3.00 GPA). Upon the applicant’s request, the college or university shall send the official transcript of grades and courses to the TLMI office. The applicant shall possess excellent character, including work ethic, honesty and integrity. Relatives of TLMI board members, corporate owners, and CEOs are ineligible. TLMI offers up to four (4) scholarships annually to qualified member company employees to further their studies and strengthen their commitment to the industry. Awards may support coursework toward either an undergraduate or graduate degree. Scholarship selection is based on: academic achievement, character, a demonstrated interest in the industry, a statement of goals, a recommendation from the applicant’s employer, and, in some cases, a personal interview. Applicants agree to remain in the industry with their current employer. Once the award is granted, the applicant will submit his or her course schedule by semester to TLMI along with the cost of those programs. TLMI will submit payment directly to the institution for that portion of tuition not being paid by the employer, up to $ 5,000 per academic year. Application Deadline: March 31

ATG Artistic Scholarship

To provide financial assistance and promotion of Asian American college students pursuing a major in the performing, visual arts, journalism and/or mass communications. Awards: $1,000 to be applied toward school tuition and fees General Eligibility Requirements: Must be of at least 50% Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity Must be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the U.S Must be either a high school senior or a college student currently enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. vocational, junior college, or four-year college/university and must be a full-time, degree seeking student by the upcoming academic calendar year and pursuing a major in the visual/performing arts (film, theatre, fashion, photography, graphic design, dance, music, journalism, mass communications, etc.) Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) Family members of Board members are ineligible Selection Criteria: Selection is based on a rating system judged in five major categories. The candidate with the highest combined cumulative points will receive the scholarship. These categories are: Quality of content submission (essay, artistic portfolio) Academic performance Leadership/community service experience and contribution Letters of recommendation Phone/in-person committee interview Please note that those Scholarship Winners will be invited to attend our annual charity event, Fashion for a Passion held in Fall in Dallas, Texas. Fashion for a Passion is our biggest event of the year which helps to raise money for our charitable causes as well as for the current scholarship. The presence of scholarship winners is highly encouraged. Funds will be disbursed directly to the educational institution in the student’s name.
