Education Scholarships

All residents of New York City who attend high schools in New York City's five boroughs are eligible. Students must plan to attend college in the fall immediately following graduation. Students must apply and be accepted to one of the ten colleges associated with Chase Smart Start Scholarship Program. Students in the program must major in one of the following fields of study: business, communications, education, engineering, liberal arts, social science or technology. Legal dependents of Chase employees are not eligible for the Smart Start Program, but continue to be eligible for Chase's scholarships for employee's children.

This scholarship is supported by voluntary contributions from the CTA membership and corporate donors. CTA recognizes the shortage of ethnic minority teachers and the demand for continuing professional growth. The goal of the Fund is to encourage ethinic minority students to become educators and to promote professional growth for ethnic minority teachers. Scholarships vary each year depending on the amount of contributions and on the financial need of individual applicants. Applicants must be an ethnic minority and be: * An Active member of California Teachers Association (CTA); or * A dependent child of an active, retired-life or deceased CTA member; or * A member of Student California Teachers Association (SCTA). Must be pursuing a degree or credential for a teaching-related career in public education. Applicants may be graduating high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate students. In order to receive funds, scholarship recipients will be required to show proof of registration in an approved credential or degree program in an accredited institution of higher learning.

The Islamic Scholarship Fund offers a wide range of scholarships based on the fields and majors it supports. ISF also offers many joint scholarships with partner organization that share its common mission and vision. ISF is honored to work with the Islamic Network Group, ING to host the ISF-ING Scholarship. This scholarship is only open to journalism, education, religious studies, and public affairs students. Recipients of this scholarship are encouraged to intern with ING within one year of receiving this scholarship. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. Each Eligible Applicant Must Be: Muslim and active member of the Muslim Community; Attending an accredited university in the U.S.; Majoring in an ISF supported field of study; Maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average; A Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.; An undergraduate (junior/senior) or of graduate standing.

Winifred Jones of Seattle, Washington, has established a scholarship fund in memory of her sisters, Gladys and Ella F. Jones, graduates of VCSU and dedicated to the teaching profession. This fund will provide one $250 scholarship to a VCSU student who is a prospective elementary teacher in financial need, North Dakota resident, high school graduate, and citizen of good moral character.

In their memory the family has established a scholarship to be awarded to a junior or senior student pursuing an art, music or elementary education degree. The student must be a North Dakota resident and a graduate of a North Dakota high school.

92nd Annual Schubert Club Scholarship Competition The Schubert Club Student Scholarship Competition, held each spring, awards approximately $50,000 annually to young musicians. (An additional $10,000 is given away in other scholarship and grant programs.) Two cash prizes in each age and instrument category are awarded – $2000 and $1500 – to be used for further musical education. The Competition is named in memory of Bruce P. Carlson, executive director of The Schubert Club from 1968 to 2006. Participants can download and mail, or electronically submit an application. Please read all the information carefully. Applications must be received complete with all required information and one $45 (per contestant) application fee. Payments and applications can be mailed to The Schubert Club offices or online with payment through PayPal. The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers $24,000 James Madison Graduate Fellowships to individuals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution at the secondary school level. Fellowship applicants compete only against other applicants from the states of their legal residence. Generally, one Fellowship per state is awarded each year. Eligibility Requirements: Fellowship applicants compete only against other applicants from the states of their legal residence. To be eligible to apply for a fellowship, you must: Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national. Be a teacher, or plan to become a teacher, of American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary school level (grades 7–12). Possess a bachelor's degree or plan to receive a bachelor's degree no later than August 31 of the year in which you are applying. Types of Fellowships The Foundation offers two types of fellowships: Junior Fellowships are awarded to outstanding college seniors and college graduates without teaching experience who intend to become secondary school teachers of American history, American government, or social studies in grades 7–12. Junior Fellows are expected to complete graduate study within 2 academic years of full-time study. Senior Fellowships are awarded to outstanding current teachers who are required to complete graduate study within 5 calendar years of part-time study.
