Dental Hygiene Scholarships

The purpose of the Health Professions Education Scholarship Program is to increase the number of dentists, dental hygienists, nurse practitioners, certified midwives, and physician assistants who are practicing direct patient care in medically underserved areas of California. Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in these specialties who have demonstrated financial need. Eligible applicants may receive up to $10,000 per year, and would have a service obligation of 2 years. This program is made possible by a grant from the Vitamin Cases Consumer Settlement Fund.

The purpose of the Health Professions Education Loan Repayment Program is to increase the number of dentists, dental hygienists, nurse practitioners, certified midwives, and physician assistants who are practicing direct patient care in medically underserved areas of California. Loan repayments are awarded to practitioners who are employed or who have a tentative offer of full-time employment in a medically underserved area of California to repay governmental or commercial loans incurred while pursuing their professional education. Eligible applicants may receive up to $20,000 over a two-year period, and would have a service obligation of 2 years. This program is made possible by a grant from the Vitamin Cases Consumer Settlement Fund.

The DDSRank Dental Scholarship is awarded to one aspiring dental student to help them pay for the cost of tuition or books.

Established by Pat Van Der Vorste in memory of her husband.Eligibility: Marshfield area resident (defined as including but not limited to Arpin, Auburndale, Blenker, Chili, Granton, Greenwood, Hewitt, Loyal, Marshfield, Neillsville, Spencer, Stratford, and Unity.); preference given to applicants enrolling in a program of study leading to a degree in Dentistry or Dental Hygiene; scheduled to be enrolled as an undergraduate on a full-time basis in one of the following: the University of Wisconsin System, the University of Wisconsin Colleges, the Wisconsin Technical College system, or Marquette University. The Imagine America Foundation created its Imagine America High School Scholarship Program in 1998 to help provide scholarships for high school students. This annual scholarship program has helped thousands of high school seniors afford a career education at hundreds of career schools across the United States. Each year, every high school in the United States and Puerto Rico may nominate up to five graduating seniors to receive a $1,000 Imagine America scholarship!

The Health Careers Scholarship Program was started in May 1976. It is supported through individual contributions of the Order's members. Since there is no set budget, the number of scholarships available may vary from year to year.Students preparing for careers in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, physical or occupational therapy, and medical technologies are eligible to apply. A student must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen, enrolled full time in a school accredited in the field involved and application must be for at least the third year of college. R.N. students must have completed the first year of schooling. Pre-med students are not eligible to apply. For those students seeking degrees of M.D. or D.D.S. application must be for at least the second year of medical or dental school. There is no age limit. Scholarships are for $1000.00.Requests for applications must include a stamped, self-addressed legal size envelope.

Criteria for Applications A student wishing to apply for the Appleby Scholarship must: - Be a resident of the State of Maine - Have completed the first year of dental school - Be currently enrolled in a dental school accredited by the American Dental Association Procedure for Application Interested parties should request an application form from the Maine Dental Association, PO Box 215 Manchester, ME 04351. The application should be accompanied by: - One personal letter of recommendation - Two dental school instructor letters of recommendation - An undergraduate college transcript - A current dental school transcript - A personal statement explaining your choice of dentistry as a career and your future goals, including your goals to practice in the State of Maine Criteria for Selection The MDA Foundation Committee for the Appleby Scholarship will review the applications and choose the scholarship recipients based upon a review of the application and the accompanied documentation requested.
