Established in 1997 by A.G. Hiebert, GCI and other private donors. The Cap Lathrop Broadcast and Telecommunications Scholarship is for eligible Alaska Native original enrollees/descendants to an ANCSA regional or village corporation. Preference is given to Native original enrollees/descendants of Cook Inlet Region, Inc. An applicant must be a declared major in broadcast, telecommunications, business, engineering, journalism, or other media related degree programs to be considered.

The first set of scholarships is for students currently enrolled in college or graduate school: Applicants must: Be enrolled in an accredited college or university within the ADI (area of dominant influence) of the television markets within the Chicago/Midwest chapter jurisdiction OR have your primary residence (home address) within the ADI of the television markets within the Chicago/Midwest chapter jurisdiction OR be a relative of a member in good standing of the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the Television Academy. The television markets that the Chicago/Midwest Chapter covers are: Chicago, IL; Peoria-Bloomington, IL; Rockford, IL; Green Bay-Appleton, WI; Madison, WI; Milwaukee, WI; Wausau-Rhinelander, WI; and South Bend-Elkhart, IN. Will attain senior level status, in a bachelor’s degree program, as of the fall term OR be enrolled in a graduate degree program in that term. Be able to demonstrate a course of study that supports the intention to pursue a career in the television industry. The 2nd set of scholarships is for current high school seniors preparing to attend post-secondary institutions and who are committed to careers in the television industry Applicants must: Have attained senior level status in high school. Be able to demonstrate a planned course of study in a college or university that supports the intention to pursue a career in the television industry. Be enrolled in a high school within the ADI (area of dominant influence) of the television markets within the Chicago/Midwest chapter jurisdiction OR have your primary residence (home address) within the ADI of the television markets within the Chicago/Midwest chapter jurisdiction OR be a relative of a member in good standing of the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the Television Academy. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of professional potential and commitment. Applications are reviewed by a prestigious group of television professionals. They are scored based on their essay responses, and their demonstrated commitment to the television industry (via internships, school projects, etc.). Finalists are personally interviewed. The Foundation advertises its scholarships through emails and flyers to the schools in their region.

Awards of up to $2,000 will be awarded to outstanding students pursuing careers in print, broadcast journalism, or photo journalism. To be eligible for any of the scholarship programs, a student must be a graduating high school senior, undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university. Students are generally selected based on the following criteria: - commitment to the field of journalism - sensitivity to Asian American issues as demonstrated by community involvement - journalistic ability - scholastic ability - financial need

The Hearst Journalism Awards Program, was founded in 1960, to provide support, encouragement, and assistance to journalism education at the college and university level. The program awards scholarships to students for outstanding performance in college-level journalism, with matching grants to the students' schools. The 54th annual program offering up to $500,000 in awards, consists of five monthly writing competitions, two photojournalism competitions, three broadcast news competitions (one in radio and two in television), and four multimedia competitions - with championship finals in all divisions. Participation in the program is open to undergraduate journalism majors currently enrolled in ACEJMC - accredited domestic universities. An exception to the journalism major rule is made for students entering the photojournalism competitions. Entrants must be actively involved in campus media and must have published articles, photographs or produced newscasts or multimedia pieces that can be submitted in our writing, photojournalism, broadcast news and/or multimedia competitions. The SSPI Scholarship Program assists deserving high school and university graduates with meeting the high costs of undergraduate and post-graduate study in satellite-related disciplines. Through the generosity of Scholarship Sponsors, SSPI provides scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $3,500 to high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students from locations around the world.Applicants must be current high school seniors, college or university undergraduate students or graduate students who are studying or intend to study satellite-related technologies, policies or applications. Successful scholarship applications have been received from students pursuing studies in these areas related to telecommunications, remote sensing, imaging, space law, business, distance learning, meteorology, energy, navigation, business, government, and broadcasting.Qualifications * Commitment to pursue education and career opportunities in the satellite industry or a field making direct use of satellite technology * Academic and leadership achievement * Potential for significant contribution to the satellite communications industry * A scientific, engineering, research, business or creative submission meeting high standards * Must be matriculated or accepted in an accredited college or university program at the time of the scholarship issuance.General scholarship requirements are: * Must be an SSPI Member to apply (Membership is free for fulltime students). * Must be pursuing studies related to satellites or the satellite communications industry. * Most scholarships give consideration for financial need.

IFEC scholarships are intended to assist students pursuing careers as writers, editors, public relations and marketing communication practitioners and closely related areas within the foodservice industry. EligibilityTo be considered eligible for an award, a student must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a post-secondary, degree-granting educational institution in the U.S. and have an expected graduation date that is after December 31, 2011.The student must show evidence of training, skill and interest in both foodservice and the communication arts. The combination of studies and/or work experience in both the foodservice field and the communication arts is necessary. Applicants should have a strong academic record, good character references and demonstrate financial need. Majors considered applicable in the foodservice area include culinary arts, hotel, restaurant and institutional management, hospitality management, dietetics, nutrition, food science and technology, and related studies. Applicable majors in the communication area include journalism, public relations, mass communication, English, broadcast journalism, marketing, photography, graphic arts, and related studies.
