American Association of Japanese University Women Scholarship

The American Association of Japanese University Women (AAJUW) was founded to promote the education of women, as well as to contribute to U.S. - Japan relations, cultural exchanges, and development of leadership. Every year, since the founding of the organization, scholarships have been awarded to outstanding female students. American Indian Education Foundation (AIEF)

Education Foundation was established to support educational opportunities for students of American Indians and Alaska Native decent. Students must be enrolled full time at an accredited 2 or 4 year University or Vocational school. There are scholarships available for Freshman, Undergraduate, and continuing students. American Institute for Foreign Study International Scholarships

The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) annually offers up to 150 semester scholarships of $1,000 each. There are also 50 scholarships of $750 for summer study. The awards offset fees and travel expenses at AIFS programs in select international universities (list available with application). Candidates must show leadership potential and involvement in extra-curricular activities centered around multi-cultural and international issues. Preference is given to full academic year study. American Institute for Foreign Study Minority Scholarships

Amount: Full Program Cost The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) awards one full scholarship plus three $2,000 grants each semester to African Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Pacific Islanders. The awards offset fees and travel expenses at AIFS programs in select international universities (list available with application). Candidates must demonstrate financial need and show leadership potential and involvement in extra-curricular activities centered around multi-cultural and international issues. Preference is given to full academic year study. Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

This scholarship seeks to lower barriers to undergraduate study abroad by offering scholarships to students with financial need. Underrepresented students in study abroad programs are encouraged to apply. The award is for semester or academic year study abroad programs. Applicants must not be studying abroad in a country which is currently under a Travel Warning issued by the United States Department of State (please see http://travel.state.gov/travel_warnings.html.). Bibliographical Society of America Fellowship Program

The Bibliogrpahical Society of America (BSA) invites applications for its annual short-term fellowship program, which supports bibliographical inquiry as well as research in the history of the book trades and in publishing history. Eligible topics may concentrate on books and documents in any field, but should focus on the book or manuscript as historical evidence. Bowman Travel Grants

The Bowman Travel Grants provide assistance to students participating in educational programs in non-traditional destinations. Applicants must be undergraduate students participating in a study, work, or volunteer program in a designated country (a complete list is available at the foundation website), preferably where the student significantly interacts with the host population. Applicants should also demonstrate how the activity is related to their future academic and/or career interests. Applicants must be participating in a travel program sponsored by the grant foundation or a similar program at a member institution (UC Berkeley is a member.) Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships

Worldstudio Foundation Acting on the belief that creativity holds enormous power for social change, Worldstudio established the Foundation in New York City in 1993 as a vehicle for the company to give back to the creative community. Since its inception, the Foundation has launched several initiatives dedicated to helping the next generation of artists, architects and designers realize their dreams while being pro-actively involved in their communities. The focal point of these efforts is a scholarship program aimed at increasing diversity in the creative professions and building a more socially responsive creative studio of the future. The scholarships are implemented in partnership with AIGA, the professional association for design. The first non-profit in the US devoted exclusively to encouraging social responsibility in the design and arts professions, Worldstudio Foundation dares young artists to dream – of new lives, new careers and new solutions for the world in which we live. Federal Chancellor Scholarship

The Federal Chancellor Scholarship is a part of the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation. This foundation grants research fellowships to foreign scholars who hold doctorates and have not yet reached the age of 40. The Foundation also offers research awards to internationally-recognized foreign scholars of any age, enabling them to spend a lengthy period of research in Germany. Subjects for study include Arts and humanities, business administration and management, fine and applied arts, mass communication and information science, medicine, recreation, welfare, protective services, religion and theology, social, behavioral sciences or law. The purpose of the scholarship is to maintain and foster a close relationship between the United States of America and Germany by sponsoring individuals who demonstrate the potential of playing a pivotal role in the future development of this relationship. Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts

The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts offers assistance to students who are training for a ministry in the United Methodist Church in the areas of music, worship, drama, dance, visuals and other liturgical arts. Applicants must have been members of the United Methodist Church for at least one year prior to application, giving strong evidence of Christian character and participation in Christian activities of the church and/or campus. Applicants must be full-time music degree candidates in an accredited university, college, or school of theology, or pursuing an education in worship or the arts related to worship. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional musical/artistic talent, effective leadership ability, and outstanding promise of future usefulness to the Church in the areas of music and/or worship. Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship Program (Christ College of Valparaiso University, Indiana)

Lilly Fellows are appointed for two years at a rank equivalent to that of assistant professor. The salary is $41,000 for the coming academic year, plus standard benefits, a moving allowance and an annual travel allowance to attend conferences. Fellows are expected to be in local residence throughout the terms of their appointments. These teaching Fellowships are open to new scholar-teachers interested in the relationship between Christianity and the academic vocation and seriously considering a career at a church-related college or university. Research or dissertation topics are not restricted to religion. Fellows will be recruited from the following disciplines: art and art history; creative writing; history; interdisciplinary studies; languages and literatures; music and music history; philosophy; religion; rhetoric; theater history and theater arts. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their interest in the goals of the Lilly Fellows Program and a sense of commitment to explore teaching and scholarship as a Christian vocation.
