Are you interested in pursuing a career in the pet industry? Do you want to work in the field of animal health and nutrition? The companion animal (pet) industry is expanding rapidly all around the world. Career opportunities in animal health, animal nutrition, marketing, publishing, and pet food manufacturing are increasing every year. Oxbow’s Undergraduate Scholarship is for students currently enrolled in a college or university who have demonstrated a career interest in companion animals. Scholarships are paid directly to the school in September. To Qualify: • Complete the application available online at www.oxbowanimalhealth.com • Submit a resume describing activities and job history • Provide two letters of reference • Provide proof of full-time enrollment in a college or university • Completed a minimum of 12 credit hours • Provide a transcript copy and current GPA • Submit a 300-500 word essay explaining why you want to pursue a career in the companion animal industry

The California Farm Bureau Scholarship Foundation was organized to give aid to students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural industry. The scholarships are awarded annually based upon academic achievement, career goals, extracurricular activities, determination, leadership skills, and a commitment to study agriculture. Who is eligible? Any student entering or attending a four-year accredited college or university in California and pursuing a career in the agricultural industry. Students entering or attending a junior college are not eligible. Students must be a resident of the State of California. How many scholarships are given, and in what amount? Each year, the Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors determine the award amounts depending on the funds available. In recent years, the range has been $2,000 to $2,750 , for 30 or more recipients each year. In addition to the regular scholarship recipients, four special awards are given: the Frederick J. Heringer Honorary Award, the Howard P. Wackman II Memorial Scholarship, the John H. Wiechman Memorial Scholarship and the Carolyn S. Richardson Memorial Scholarship. Any individuals fitting the criteria for these awards will be selected by the Foundation board. No additional application information is needed. Requirements Applications are accepted each year.

The National Cattlemen’s Foundation is honoring the successful career of the late W.D. Farr of Greeley, Colorado through two $12,000 graduate scholarships bearing his name. We lost a true industry leader and friend with W.D.'s passing on August 13, 2007, at the age of 97. Farr, a third generation Coloradan, pioneer rancher, statesman and banker is known for his extraordinary vision. His dedication to improving agriculture, livestock and water development has resulted in significant changes in farming methods that have influenced the practices of ranchers and farmers throughout the nation. Conditions of Eligibility Applicants must be a graduating high school senior or full-time undergraduate student enrolled at a two or four-year institution for the school year. Graduating high school seniors who have not been accepted to a two or four-year institution must list the school in which the student plans to attend, or has applied to, on the Cover Page. Multiple schools may be listed. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to a career in the beef industry through classes, internships or life experiences. Previous scholarship winners are eligible to apply in subsequent years. Judging Process The National Cattlemen’s Foundation will administer the program and choose a panel of judges to read the essays and select the winners. Essays will be judged on the basis of originality, grammar, clarity of expression, accuracy, relevance of topic and the solutions offered. Judges decisions are final. The National Cattlemen’s Foundation reserve the right to publish all or any or parts of the essays submitted. St. Paul- based AgriBank, one of the largest banks within the national Farm Credit System, awards The William J. Collins Scholarship each year to honor the service of a dedicated former employee. This scholarship is awarded to children of Farm Credit employees in the AgriBank District (Board of Directors Excluded) who are graduating high school seniors planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in an agriculture-related program. Each year, two $2,000 academic tuition/fees scholarships are awarded. The scholarships also provide sponsorship for AFA Leaders Conference the Fall of the freshman year of college, a $1,000 value. To be considered for this award, applicants must provide three letters of reference, under same or separate cover, that recognize the applicant’s personal, academic or leadership character. The Stanley H. Durwood Foundation, named after the late Founder of AMC Theaters and active philanthropist, provides five AFA Leader and Academic Scholarships to students identified and selected by AFA. The Trustees of the Foundation believe in continuing to provide access to education and are assisting in this effort by providing these five scholarships to deserving AFA delegates. These scholarships are only available for graduating high school seniors. Eligibility Requirements All scholarships include leader development award to attend the AFA Leaders Conference (November of scholarship year in Kansas City, Mo.), of which full attendance is required to receive the full academic scholarship. Students must be enrolling in an agriculture-related, four-year degree program. Students must be a citizen of the United States of America to be eligible for AFA scholarship awards. International students studying in the United States are not eligible Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of career vision and goal, leader and community involvement, and financial need. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

At Dairy Farmers of America, we believe it is important to invest in the next generation of leaders to ensure a bright future for the dairy industry. That is why we established the DFA Cares Foundation Scholarship Program. The California Cotton Alliance is a non-profit foundation with a primary mission to provide funding for cotton research. Additionally, however, the Alliance wishes to support academic and scholarship initiatives throughout the state of California. The Alliance is providing five scholarships to students currently attending California institutions and pursuing an agriculture or related major. Preference will be giving to students originally from the state of California, but scholarships are not limited to that criteria. Provides four AFA Leader and Academic Scholarships to female, Midwest agriculture students with a special interest in agriculture education . This scholarship provides a $3,200 academic tuition/fees scholarship, $1,000 registration fee for AFA Leaders Conference and the opportunity for the student to attend the BOTAR General Membership Meeting in January of her initial scholarship selection year. This scholarship is renewable up to three times if all scholarship requirements are fulfilled and at the discretion of the BOTAR committee. If a student receives this scholarship an additional three times, she will be asked to attend the BOTAR General Membership Meeting in her senior year as well, to share about her experiences. Students eligible to receive the AFA Leader and Academic Scholarship provided by BOTAR must: Be a female student pursuing a four-year degree in Agriculture Education or related field in the Midwest. Attend the BOTAR General Membership Meeting in January of her initial scholarship selection year. Meet all the AFA scholarship criteria and requirements listed above.

The Royal Scholars program is designed to provide an opportunity for outstanding college students to advocate the food and fiber industry, leadership and the American Royal. Royal Scholars will travel to Kansas City, Missouri, in the summer for training, Business and Scholarship Luncheon and again during the 116th American Royal to participate in School Tours, PRCA Rodeo, the American Royal Parade and Youth Leadership Day. In recognition of the outstanding achievements of the Royal Scholars and their continuing advocacy of the food and fiber industry, the American Royal Association will award a $2,500 scholarship to each student selected as a member of the Royal Scholars program.
