Aerospace Scholarships

For a graduating senior from Cape Cod or the Islands who has demonstrated a commitment to pursue a career directly related to aeronautics. Giving limited to Barnstable, Duke, and Nantucket counties, MA.

The Teacher Education Scholarship Program is open to full-time undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens. Students must be enrolled in a program of study at one of Virginia's five Space Grant colleges (College of William and Mary, Hampton University, Old Dominion University, University of Virginia and Virginia Tech) when they actually receive the award. Since this award is intended to encourage students to enter teaching, students may also apply during their senior year in high school or in their sophomore year in a community college. The award is contingent on their matriculation at a Space Grant college and entrance into a teacher certification program. Students currently enrolled in a Space Grant college can apply when they declare their intent to enter the teacher certification program. Those students enrolled in a career transition program leading to a degree in education are also eligible to apply. Students eligible for support must be in a track that would qualify them to teach in a pre-college setting. Priority will be given to those majoring in technology education, mathematics or earth/space/environmental science. Successful scholarship recipients should have grade point averages of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Since an important purpose of this program is to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in science, math and technology education, the VSGC especially encourages applications from these students.

Also established by the EAA Aviation Foundation, Inc., the David Alan Quick Scholarship awards $1,000 to a college-level junior or senior in good standing. The applicant must be pursuing a degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering.

This scholarship is also available to Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering majors. Eligible applicants for Hertz Fellowships must be students of the applied physical, biological and engineering sciences who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America, and who are willing to morally commit to make their skills available to the United States in time of national emergency (see our Moral Commitment section).College seniors wishing to pursue the Ph.D. degree in any of the fields of particular interest to the Foundation, as well as graduate students already in the process of doing so, may apply.We screen Fellowship applicants for qualities the Foundation believes are essential ingredients of future professional accomplishment and/or reasonably reliable leading indicators of future professional success. These include:• Exceptional Intelligence and Creativitywith particular emphasis on those aspects pertinent to technical endeavors• Excellent Technical Educationevidenced not only by transcripts and reference reports from senior technical professionals, but also by the results of a personal, technical interview• Orientation and Commitment to the applications of the physical sciences as is typical of most applicants• Extraordinary Accomplishment in technical or related professional studies which may offset slightly lower academic records, or add luster to outstanding ones• Features of Temperament and Character conducive to high attainment as a technical professional the assessment of which is difficult, albeit important to the Foundation• Appropriate moral and ethical values of considerable interest to the Foundation in the furthering of our basic goals• Leverage what difference the award of the Hertz Fellowship is likely to make in the kind, quality, and/or personal creativity of the student's graduate researchWe do not support students pursuing advanced professional degrees other than the Ph.D., such as enrollees in M.D., LLD or MBA programs, although we will support the Ph.D. portion of a joint M.D./Ph.D. study program.

The two daughters of Naval Commander John Paradiso, a WWII aviator, have established an endowed scholarship in their father’s name to benefit young women who have a sincere interest in pursuing their dreams of flight. One annual award of approximately $750.

Provides from 50% to full tuition to attend an EAA Air Academy session. Established in tribute to the 339th Fighter Group of World War II by Lt. Colonel Lee D. “Ike” Eisenhart, one of the squadron’s P-51 “Mustang” pilots and devoted EAA member.

A one-time scholarship of $300 offered in honor of Mr. Jim Brown, Chairman of Hartzell Propeller, Inc. Presented by the Aero Club of New England; "In this day of increasing costs, scholarship funding for our future pilots is becoming even more important in providing opportunities to our youth.”
