Physically Disabled Scholarships

The Student Aid Award is intended for young, physically disabled individuals in need of further education. Applicants should be between 15 and 40 years old at the time of application. Financial need and the capacity to profit from further education are the two crucial criteria by which each applicant is judged. There are seven regional recipients. From these, one first-place and one second-place winner is chosen.

This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who attends a US university/college located Minnesota. Applicants must meet general FEA scholarship eligibility requirements & preferences. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their application forms. This scholarship is made possible by the generous support and fundraising efforts of international educators working in Minnesota. Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. Must be applying for a study abroad program eligible for credit at the student’s educational institution Must plan to study abroad for a minimum of 4 weeks in country Is committed to supporting education abroad in his/her campus community through work with the FEA and his/her campus education abroad staff upon return Preferences: Applying to a study abroad program known for its academic rigor and immersion elements Applying to a study abroad program that includes studying the language of the host country (if not English) Applying to a study abroad program with a sustainable service-learning or volunteering component Applying to a study abroad program in a non-traditional destination Demonstrates financial need FEA strongly encourages students to apply who represent a group that is traditionally underrepresented in education abroad Groups typically underrepresented in study abroad include, but are not limited to: Minorities First-generation college students STEM majors Community college students Students with disabilities

Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their application forms. Full-time graduate students with a disability who are enrolled in a communication sciences and disorders program and demonstrate outstanding academic achievement are eligible to compete for a $5,000 scholarship. Supported by the American Business Clubs and the Leslie Londer Fund.

The foundation provides scholarships for students with disabilities, and administers a student leadership training program for college students with disabilities. Limited to residents of California.

All current high school seniors, enrolled in an accredited California public or private high school, age 19 or under with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better, who have competed during high school in varsity or equivalent-level competitive athletics and who have a disability, are eligible. The Americans with Disabilities Act defines an individual with a disability as a person who has a physical ormental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, has a record of such an impairment, or is regarded as having such an impairment. Applicants must be California residents who plan to attend accredited colleges or universities. Students must submit a complete packet consisting of the application, plus six other items (listed on the application) for consideration. It is not necessary for students to plan on formally participating in a college athletic activity to qualify.

As part of our commitment, we’ve partnered with Lime Connect, a nonprofit organization that supports students with disabilities while they pursue education and promising careers, to help university students with disabilities work toward their academic goals in the field of computer science. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD (for those studying in the US) or 5,000 CAD (for those studying in Canada) and will be invited to attend the Google Scholars’ Retreat in the summer.
