OMAP’s 100 Word Essay Health Care Scholarship

OMAP (OnlineMedicalAssistantPrograms.net) is now offering our 100 word essay scholarship for all current and prospective students pursuing a career in the health care field. The scholarship disbursement amount is $500 x 4, for a total of $2000. Four unique winners will be selected yearly to receive a one-time payment of $500. Essay Instructions Please explain why you should be considered for our scholarship, using the following criteria: Minimum of 100 words, maximum of 200 words All essays should be written in English using correct grammar and punctuation All personal information needs to be accurate and truthful Pictures, audio, and video are accepted as part of the submission How Much Are We Giving Away? We are currently offering $2000 in scholarship funds per year. The money will be divided between four lucky students, and dispersed four separate times per year on select dates (see deadline instructions below). Each winner will receive $500 in scholarship money. What are the Deadlines? If you missed the last deadline, don’t worry! We offer 4 scholarships per year to different individuals. Be sure to get your applications in before the next deadline! All winners will need to provide proof of meeting the following requirements: Must be at least 18 years old (at the time of disbursement) Must be a citizen of the United States Must be enrolled in an academic program in a healthcare related field

Details We will award a $500 scholarship to the applicant chosen. Must be at least 18 years old. Applicant must be currently attending a college or university, or will be attending in the fall. Applicant must have a min. of 3.0 GPA based on the previous school year’s academic performance. Essay For the essay portion of the application, please write an essay on the topic: “Why I want to pursue a career in the medical field.” The essay must be 400 words or more. Be sure to include personal experiences, and your thoughts on the importance of saving money. How to Apply Fill out the scholarship application. Selection The scholarship will be paid directly to the scholarship recipient’s college or university. The essays will be reviewed and judged by creativity, specificity, and grammar. We are looking for students who need the extra money to get through college. District of Columbia Scholarship

A one-time $1,000 award is given to two graduating high school seniors, one who has been accepted into the field of nursing and one who has been accepted into the field of occupational therapy, who reside in the District of Columbia, the home of NSDAR Headquarters. Gilbert Matching Student Grant Program

The Massachusetts Gilbert Matching Student Grant Program (GMSGP) makes funds available to participating Massachusetts' institutions of higher education and schools of nursing. At least one hundred percent of such funds must be used for direct financial assistance to needy Massachusetts's undergraduate students to enable them to attend or continue to attend such institutions. Who Is Eligible? To be eligible for a Massachusetts Gilbert Grant, a student must: Be a dependent student who is a permanent legal resident of Massachusetts and whose source of support is a parent who has been a permanent resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the twelve months prior to the opening of the academic year; or an independent student who has been a permanent resident of the Commonwealth for the twelve months immediately preceding the opening of the academic year. Be a United States citizen or an eligible non citizen. Not have earned a bachelor's or professional degree or their equivalent. Not be in default of a Federal or state education loan or owe a refund on any previously received financial aid. Demonstrate financial aid need according to program guidelines. Be maintaining satisfactory academic progress according to institutional and Federal standards. Be in compliance with applicable laws regarding Selective Service Registration. Be enrolled full-time. Not have earned a first diploma from a hospital or professional nursing program. Eligible Institutions An eligible institution shall mean an institution of higher education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts which: Admits as regular students only persons having a certificate of graduation from a school providing secondary education or the recognized equivalent of such a certification, and Is legally authorized within the Commonwealth to provide a program of post-secondary education, and Provides an education for which it awards an associate or bachelors degree and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, or Provides an education which results in an award of a diploma indicating satisfactory completion of a hospital school or professional nursing program which is accredited by the National League of Nursing, and is approved by the State Board of Registration in Nursing Is not a public institution of higher education operated by the Commonwealth or its subdivisions and does not derive the major portion of its annual budget from state or local appropriations, and Does not have as its primary purpose education for religious purposes. What Awards Are Available? Massachusetts Gilbert Grant awards range from $200 to $2500 per academic year. How Do I Apply? Contact your financial aid office for application requirements and deadlines. The Helen N. & Harold B. Shapira Heart Undergraduate Scholarship

The Purpose: To stimulate interest in the study of heart and blood vessel diseases. The Scholarship: Every year one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate. The successful candidate will be eligible for a renewal of the $1,000 award for a second year provided they maintain satisfactory scholastic progress. Renewals will be considered in conjunctions with all new applications Who Is Eligible: Minnesota Students Only: Undergraduate students currently enrolled in a four year college or university in the State of Minnesota and working in a medically related curriculum with potential application to patients with diseases of the heart and blood vessel system are eligible. Students can receive no more than two undergraduate scholarships from the American Heart Association. How the Scholars Are Selected: Scholars will be chosen on merit by an American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate Committee of medical and/or scientific professionals. How Candidates Apply: Candidates must submit the appropriate form and complete all requirements. Applications must be fully completed to receive consideration.
