Nursing Scholarships

The Mildred Nutting Nursing Scholarship is awarded to students who have been accepted or are currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. Preference will be given to candidates from the greater Lowell, MA area.Awards are based on academic merit, commitment to the field of study and financial need. No affiliation with DAR is necessary unless specified.Awards are placed on deposit with the college or university; any unused portion shall be returned to the National Society.

The Madeline Pickett (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship is awarded to students who are accepted or enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. Applicants must be members, descendents of members or be eligible for membership in NSDAR. DAR Member Number must be on the Application.This is a one-time award of $1000.

The Health Careers Scholarship Program was started in May 1976. It is supported through individual contributions of the Order's members. Since there is no set budget, the number of scholarships available may vary from year to year.Students preparing for careers in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, physical or occupational therapy, and medical technologies are eligible to apply. A student must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen, enrolled full time in a school accredited in the field involved and application must be for at least the third year of college. R.N. students must have completed the first year of schooling. Pre-med students are not eligible to apply. For those students seeking degrees of M.D. or D.D.S. application must be for at least the second year of medical or dental school. There is no age limit. Scholarships are for $1000.00.Requests for applications must include a stamped, self-addressed legal size envelope.

The Decision Critical Nursing Student Excellence Scholarship is available to students wishing to pursue a career in Informatics (Technology in Nursing). To be considered for this scholarship, students must be enrolled in a BSN program.Eligibility RequirementsFNSNA scholarship eligibility criteria include:• Current enrollment and matriculation in a state-approved nursing program (BSN);Matriculation means the student has applied to a state approved nursing school and has been admitted into the nursing program.• Pre-nursing students taking courses to prepare for matriculation into a nursing program;• Attending classes and taking no less than six (6) credits per semester.• Involvement in student nursing organizations and community health activities;• Document academic achievement;• Establish financial need;• High school students are not eligible to apply;• U.S. Citizen or Alien with U.S. Permanent Resident Status/Alien Registration Number.

Breakthrough to Nursing Scholarships are awarded to individuals who are of racial and ethnic minorities under-represented in the nursing profession. With over 26 years of experience serving the community and many years fighting against low standards of elderly care, Bill is dedicated to promoting passionate students who are focused on making care homes a ‘home’ for our senior population. We are pleased to be offering a $1500 nursing scholarship to high-achieving students who are committed to elderly care and pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Our hope is to further their professional development and continued competence, allowing them to improve the quality of life for seniors at nursing homes. The late Mildred S. Hansen, former owner and publisher of the Greeley Tribune, left much of her estate in the form of scholarships to several organizations throughout the community. The North Colorado Medical Center Foundation was one recipient of her remarkable generosity.To be considered for the Hansen Nursing Scholarship, an applicant must be a non-traditional student (age 25 or older) who has obtained a bachelor's degree in a course of study other than nursing. Applicant must also have been accepted into the nursing program at the University of Northern Colorado. Hansen Nursing Scholarship applicants are not eligible to apply for the Hansen Nursing Program Scholarship. PVH Accelerated Nursing Program students are not eligible for this scholarship. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America. Recipient will receive assistance with tuition, books, and fees, and a stipend for living expenses.
