Landscape Architecture Scholarships

Students are selected for paid summer internships and an opportunity to compete for two $2,500 financial aid awards. Applicants must be pursuing a career in the green industry and be graduating high school senior, or collegiate freshman, sophomore or junior who has been accepted at an accredited university, college or junior college for the next academic year. Candidates from culturally diverse backgrounds receive initial consideration in judging and are strongly encouraged to apply.

LawnCare.net is proud to offer a $500 scholarship to an undergraduate student pursuing a career in sustainable botany, horticulture, landscape architecture, or a related field. We believe that sustainable practices are the key to a healthy planet and thriving environmental service industry. This scholarship is to help raise awareness about different sustainability efforts and why they are crucial for the success of those pursuing careers in these fields. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who meets the criteria and shows outstanding potential to be a front-runner for green practices in his or her career. Candidates must be United States citizens or legal residents enrolled full-time at an accredited college, university, or trade school.

Details of the Award The purpose of the GCFM Horticulture Scholarship is to encourage and financially aid students who are interested in a future major or in a current major in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, and/or other gardening related fields. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements as listed on the National Garden Clubs Scholarships website. The student must be a legal resident of the State of Maine and must be a junior or senior in an undergraduate program leading to a degree in one of the previously mentioned areas. College sophomores are eligible to apply, as they will be entering their junior year the following fall. Masters students pursuing an education in one of these fields are also eligible, but PhD students are not. Masters students must be enrolled for the fall semester following the award. If awaiting acceptance to graduate school, students should apply on the basis of expenses and programs that would pertain to their preferred school. The GCFM Scholarship Chair should be notified with respect to acceptance in a graduate program as soon as possible and preferably on or before March 21 for full consideration.

Details of the Award: This scholarship, in the amount of $1000, is awarded every other year in odd numbered years. It is intended to encourage and financially aid students who are majoring in horticulture, floral design or related fields at the community college level. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must be legal residents of the State of Maine and planning to attend a community college program in one of the fields noted above in the Fall following the award of the scholarship. Application Procedures In an effort to conserve on paper and facilitate the ease and speed of application and review, the GCFM is moving as much as possible to an electronically based application process. Applicants should download the one-page MLMS application form and the financial aid form, fill them out electronically and submit that material along with their letter of application (2 pages maximum) and their list of activities (2 pages maximum) to the GCFM Scholarship Chair, Linda Green, parsnip@myfairpoint.net Only pages requiring signatures (eg. the application form, the financial aid form) should also be forwarded to the Chair by mail or courier. Unofficial transcripts may be submitted electronically but official transcripts should also be forwarded in paper copy.
