Environmental Science Scholarships

Here are some of the Environmental Science scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

ASSE Foundation Scholarship Program

Our awards are for students majoring in occupational safety, health, and the environment. If your degree is not an OS&H degree, it is your responsibility to make the case in your student narrative for why your studies are relevant to our mission of guiding the safety profession forward. We will award more than $200,000 to OS&H students and professionals through our scholarships and grants program. You will be required to submit transcripts from every university you have attended. You will be required to provide an academic letter of recommendation. You will be required to fill out a short answer section. You must have a 3.0 undergraduate GPA and (if applicable) a 3.5 graduate GPA. All applications will be reviewed by the ASSE Foundation Scholarship Award & Selection Committee. Award recipient will be notified and announced on the Foundation's website in April.

Tyson Foods, Inc. Education Grants

In addition to internal scholarships provided to Team Members and their direct dependents through the Tyson Family Foundation, Tyson Foods charitable grants in the Education category focus on areas that are important to their business, industry, communities and the students who may be future Team Members. These targeted areas are: Programs pertaining to the education of students and the promotion of the following fields of study: Technical Education Agriculture Environmental Stewardship ESL/Diversity Food Safety

Regeneron Science Talent Search

Regeneron STS is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science research competition for high school students. Started in 1942 as the Westinghouse Science Talent Search, Regeneron STS recognizes and empowers our nation’s most promising young scientists who are developing ideas that could solve society’s most urgent challenges. Each year, nearly 2,000 students enter the Regeneron STS, submitting original research in critically important scientific fields of study. Unique among high school competitions, the Regeneron STS focuses on identifying, inspiring, and engaging the nation’s most promising future leaders in STEM. Eligibility: High school seniors living in the United States, and US citizens living abroad, who have completed independent research projects are encouraged to apply online for the chance to win up to $250,000! Grace Wall Barreda Fellowship

To American Indian/Alaska Native students seeking advanced degrees in Environmental Studies or Public Health. Eligibility: 1, Be an enrolled member of a United States federally-recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group or possess one-fourth degree Indian blood from a federally-recognized tribe. 2, Be enrolled full-time in a Masters, doctoral or professional degree program at an accredited college or university within the United States. 3, Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) from the United States Department of Education and the office of the university you plan to attend.

Association of California Water Agencies Scholarship Awards

Source: Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) Eligibility: Must be California residents attending selected California schools. They should have completed their sophomore work and at the time of the award be full-time students in their junior or senior year. They must plan to attend school for the complete academic year. The award will be based not only on scholastic achievement, but also on the individual's commitment and motivation to his/her chosen vocation. Financial need will also be given due consideration. The recipient should demonstrate commitment to the field of water resources by pursuing a degree related to, or identified with, engineering, agricultural and/or urban water supply, environmental studies or public administration. Awards: $1,500 Application Procedures: The recipients will be selected by the ACWA Scholarship Committee upon receipt of a completed application form and at least two, but not more than three, recommendations for each candidate. Harry S. Truman Scholarships

Purpose: The Harry S Truman Foundation Scholarship Program gives college juniors interested in public service careers the opportunity to refine career goals and plan graduate studies by encouraging applicants to reflect on social issues and needs that they want to address. Programs Funded: Foundation Scholarships award up to $30,000 for graduate studies in the U.S. or abroad in public administration, public policy analysis, law, public health, international relations, government, economics, social services delivery, education, human resource development, conservation, environmental protection, and other relevant fields. Truman Scholars also participate in substantial summer leadership development programs in Washington, D.C.. Eligibility: Candidates are nominated by their colleges/universities. Nominees must be U.S citizens or nationals who are juniors in the upper quarter of the class, and who are committed to a career in public service. This may include employment in government at any level, uniformed services, public-interest organizations, nongovernmental research and/or educational organizations, public and private schools, and public service-oriented nonprofit organizations such as those whose primary purposes are to help needy or disadvantaged persons or to protect the environment. All majors are eligible. Selection Criteria: Screening focuses on the extent and quality of community service and government involvement, demonstrated commitment to careers in public service, academic performance, writing and analytical skills, leadership abilities, and the suitability of the nominee's proposed program of study for a career in public service. Application/Nomination Process: On-campus deadlines are normally in November. Interested students should begin work on their application well in advance, as the application requires several essays, including close analysis of a public policy issue. Pomona may nominate a limited number of students. One Scholar or more is selected from each state, and up to 30 additional Scholars are selected at large.

The Mary T. Carothers Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship

Provides financial aid to college students who wish to pursue summer studies doing field work, research, or classroom work in the environmental field. The scholarship encourages young men and women who are interested in furthering their studies and careers in the field of ecology and offers an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience beyond the regular course of study. Work may award academic credit but should be in addition to required courses. The GCA selects and administers these awards.

Clara Carter Higgins Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship

Provide financial aid to college students following their freshman, sophomore, or junior years who wish to pursue summer studies doing field work, research, or classroom work in the environmental field. The scholarships encourage young men and women who are interested in furthering their studies and careers in the field of ecology and offer an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience beyond the regular course of study. Work may award academic credit but should be in addition to required courses. The GCA selects and administers these awards.

The Elizabeth Gardner Norweb Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship

The GCA Awards In Tropical Botany

Established to promote the preservation of tropical forests by enlarging the body of botanists with field experience. The program, administered by World Wildlife Fund, enables doctoral candidates to pursue independent field study in the tropics. Their research has the potential to significantly contribute to critical issues of tropical botany and notably impact tropical conservation. Selection is by a panel of botanists appointed by World Wildlife Fund. One award is granted for a systematics study and one for ecology.

The Frances M. Peacock Scholarship For Native Bird Habitat

Grants financial aid to advanced students to study areas in the United States that provide winter or summer habitat for threatened and endangered native birds. Awarded in cooperation with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the scholarship offers scholars the opportunity to pursue habitat-related issues that will benefit bird species and lend useful information for land management decisions.
