Engineering Technologies Scholarships

Here are some of the Engineering Technologies scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Delayed Education Scholarship for Women

One scholarship is awarded to a mature woman whose undergraduate studies in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or a nuclear-related field have been delayed. Applicants must check the appropriate box on the Landis Scholarship form. For more information on how to apply for a scholarship, call the Scholarship Coordinator at 708-352-6611. Eligibility Requirements: You must be at least an entering sophomore enrolled in a program leading to a degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering or a nuclear related field. You must be an ANS student member (U.S. or non-U.S. citizen) attending a qualified university in the United States. For Undergraduate scholarships the completed application with a grade transcript, and three confidential reference forms must be received by February 1. Note that one request and one application covers all of the Undergraduate scholarships. Remember to check the appropriate boxes on the application form.

Chapter 23 - Quad Cities Scholarship

Criteria: Scholarship applicants must be seeking a Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing technology or integrated fg systems. Scholarship applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 point scale. The scholarship can be used only as a credit toward books, fees, or tuition. When making the selection of recipients, the scholarship committee will give consideration to the following preferences: First preference - given to a scholarship applicant who is an active SME Student Chapter member, is an SME Member or is a child, grandchild, or step child of a registered SME member or student member. Second preference - given to a applicant who are residents of Iowa or Illinois and attending an Iowa or Illinois college or university. Third Preference - given to students who are residents of the state of Iowa or Illinois. Fourth preference - will be given to applicants who attend a college or university located in Iowa or Illinois.

Autodesk Scholarship

Criteria: Applicant must be a full time student majoring in manufacturing or industrial engineering, or a closely related field, at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada. Applicant must have completed at least one PLTW class. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicant can attend a 2 or 4 year school Applicant can be a graduating High School senior or a current undergraduate a student.

Alvin & June Sabroff Manufacturing Engineering Scholarship

Criteria: All applicants must be seeking a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, technology, or closely related field at an accredited public or private college or university in the United States or Canada. Eligible candidates for this scholarship must be United States citizens. Scholarship applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale When making the selection of recipients, the scholarship committee will give first preference to scholarship applicants who are planning to attend a college or university located in the state of Ohio

Robert B. Oliver Scholarship

Purpose To provide an incentive to students currently enrolled in course work related to nondestructive testing (NDT) in a program of study learning to an undergraduate degree, an associate degree or a post-secondary certificate. The scholarship memorializes ASNT Past President, Honorary Member and Fellow Robert B. Oliver. Eligibility Students applying for the scholarship must be officially enrolled in an undergraduate degree, associate degree, or certificate program which includes studies in NDT. Method of Selection The Education Division of the Technical and Education Council awards up to three $2,500 scholarships each year to students who have submitted the most outstanding manuscript about NDT research, investigation or development (provided all applicants have met the established guidelines). Please note: Because the award may be made after the completion of studies, there is no requirement that the student use the funds for school expenses. Also, it is not necessary for an applicant to attend ASNT’s Annual Conference to be eligible for the Scholarship. Evaluation Criteria: Selection is based on creativity (10 points), content (50 points), format and readability (25 points) and the student’s hands-on involvement in the project (15 points) – totaling 100 points Form of Award $2,500 in funding and a Certificate in Walnut Frame Materials Submitted Completed application form – signed by applicant & school official (download form); All applications must be submitted electronically. Original copy of the student’s NDT manuscript (see manuscript criteria below); Curriculum of student, showing classroom hours of NDT course work (may attach school’s published curriculum if available); Transcript of grades showing all of student’s completed course work; if educational institution will submit electronically then have them submit the transcript to ASNT using the webpage for submission of application; if educational institution does not submit transcripts electronically then mail transcript to ASNT HQ Contact Information below. and, Letter from an instructor or school official verifying the student’s enrollment. Award Timeline Announcements are made in the: October Issue of Materials Evaluation Nomination deadline: 15th of February The Education Division of the Technical and Education Council will provide its recommendation to the ASNT Board of Directors during ASNT’s Research Symposium Recipients will be notified following the Research Symposium Funds will be made available in: July Awards will be presented at ASNT’s Annual Conference Nomination Students applying for the Award must submit the following: Completed application form – signed by applicant & school official; DOWNLOAD: The Robert B. Oliver Scholarship Application Form Original copy of the student’s NDT manuscript (see manuscript criteria below); Curriculum of student, showing classroom hours of NDT course work (may attach school’s published curriculum if available; Transcript of grades showing all of student’s completed course work; and, Letter from an instructor or school official verifying the student’s enrollment Manuscript Criteria *Manuscripts should develop an original concept in NDT and may be based on practical experience, laboratory work or library research. Papers may be classroom assignments for work outside NDT, such as an English class. *Submission of a manuscript means that it has not been published elsewhere and that it will not be published elsewhere while under consideration by ASNT. Manuscripts from the scholarship winner will be copyrighted by ASNT and submitted for publication in Materials Evaluation, one of the Society’s technical journals. No payment is made for the use of articles. A complimentary copy of the journal containing published manuscripts is provided to the student. Details of manuscript submission are outlined below: The manuscript must be submitted as an electronic file. The manuscript must contain title, author and complete references. The manuscript is limited to 5,000 words and a maximum of ten illustrations. Photographs should be high resolution digital images. Photographs and line drawings, if submitted, must be original (not taken from a published source). The International System of Units or SI, the approved international metric system, is preferred for all measurement.

Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship

Purpose To provide an incentive to engineering undergraduate students enrolled in ABET accredited engineering programs to choose nondestructive testing and evaluation as their field of specialization. The Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship is a monetary award. Eligibility Undergraduate students enrolled in an engineering program of an ABET accredited university at the time the application is submitted for this scholarship. Each potential candidate for this award must show their anticipated graduation date to be later that the date the award funds are to be distributed. Each potential candidate must also show an active interest in the field of nondestructive testing and evaluation. Method of Selection The University Programs Committee selects up to three $3,000 scholarships each year, pending merit and number of submissions. Form of Award $3,000 in funding and Certificate in Walnut Frame Materials Submitted * Materials must now be submitted electronically. Completed application form – signed by the Administrative Officer (department head or chairman), or his/her designee, of the program in which candidate is enrolled. Outline of student’s program of study; Official school transcript showing all completed coursework; if educational institution will submit electronically then have them submit the transcript to ASNT using the webpage for submission of application; if educational institution does not submit transcripts electronically then mail transcript to ASNT HQ. Three letters of recommendation, signed by separate faculty members; and, Student’s original essay describing how he/she envisions the role of NDE/NDT in his/her studies and career. Lynn G. Bellenger Scholarship

To benefit women in engineering. Available to full-time undergraduate engineering or pre-engineering students pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in a course of study that traditionally has been a preparatory curriculum for the HVAC&R profession. Applicants must have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is the highest and/or a class standing of no less than the top 30% and be enrolled in a program at a post-secondary educational institution that meets at least one of the following criteria: the institution hosts a recognized ASHRAE Student Branch the program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) www.abet.org in the USA the program is accredited by an agency outside the USA that is part of the Washington Accord http://www.washingtonaccord.org/Washington-Accord/Accredited.cfm or has a signed Memorandum of Understanding with ABET http://www.abet.org/memoranda-of-understanding/

Willis H. Carrier Scholarships

Two one-year scholarships awarded $5,000 per semester. Scholarship was established by The Carrier Corporation in memory of its founder, who’s known widely for his numerous and significant contributions to establishing air conditioning as an industry. Available to full-time undergraduate engineering or pre-engineering students pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in a course of study that traditionally has been a preparatory curriculum for the HVAC&R profession. National Space Club Keynote Scholarship

Conditions of Eligibility The applicant must be a U.S. citizen. The scholarship is open to seniors in high school through graduate students. The applicant must have the intention of pursuing a career in the STEM fields and plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university to follow a course of study to pursue a career in the STEM field, with a preference for those with space related interests. The applicant can only use the $10,000.00 scholarship towards tuition for the next academic year. The applicant must not have previously spoken at the Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner. The applicant may apply for any of the scholarships offered by the National Space Club (Robert H. Goddard Memorial Scholarship, Olin E Teague Scholarship, Keynote Scholarship) in the same year, but may only win one in the same year.

Reuben Lee Kwai Brandt Scholarship

 Demonstrated interest and aptitude for science and engineering General criteria: • Must be a classified undergraduate student • Enrolled in a degree-seeking program, unless specifically noted • Enrolled in a two- or four-year, accredited* college institution in Hawai`i or the continental U.S. • Full-time status, unless specifically noted • Demonstrate interest in Hawaiian language, culture, history • Demonstrate a commitment to contribute to the greater community. *See website for accrediting bodies that are recognized by the Foundation. Applications are open to the general public. However, it is the policy of the Pauahi Foundation to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.

AIST Ohio Valley Chapter Scholarship

Objectives Administered by the AIST Ohio Valley Member Chapter, available to students who are dependents of Ohio Valley Member Chapter members or to student members pursuing an education in engineering, metallurgy, physical science, computer technology or an engineering technology field.Awards – One or two US$1000 scholarships will be awarded. The scholarships are renewable for a total scholarship of four years at $1,000 per year.Eligibility – The student must be the child (including step-children, adopted children or wards) of a member in good standing of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the AIST or a Student member in good standing. The student must be accepted into, planning to attend, or currently enrolled in an eligible, full-time curriculum at an accredited university or college. Degrees eligible for the AIST scholarship include: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering / Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering / Sciences, Metallurgy, Physical Sciences, Computer Technology, Computer Programming, Information Systems Technology, Chemistry, Biology / Microbiology, Physics, Other Engineering-Related fields, or other related fields approved by the committee.

Airgas - Jerry Baker Scholarship

The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a career in welding engineering. Eligibility The Airgas ­ Jerry Baker Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a minimum four-year bachelors degree in welding engineering (WE) or welding engineering technology (WET); however, priority will be given to welding engineering (WE) students interested in pursuing a career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age. Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Applicant must be a full-time student as defined by the academic institution. Applicant must have at least a 2.8 overall grade point average with a 3.0 grade point average in engineering courses. Financial need is not required; however, priority will be given to those individuals demonstrating a financial need. Priority will be given to those individuals who demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career with an industrial gas or welding equipment distributor by prior work experience, clubs, organizations or extra-curricular activities. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States or Canada and plan to attend an academic institution located within the United States or Canada. Applicant must submit all required application information. Priority will be given to those individuals residing or attending school in the states of Alabama, Georgia or Florida. (A resident is defined as having lived in the specified area for a minimum of one year.) Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four years. The award will be presented to individuals nationwide. Applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society. The AWS Foundation does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender. Selection The recipient will be chosen by a Selection Committee comprised of five (5) members, selected by the Education Scholarship Committee. The Selection Committee will determine award recipient in February of each year. Recipient will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon. Awards One $2,500 award will be given annually. No recipient shall receive more than one AWS National Scholarship award per year. No awards will be paid to the recipient. All awards are for tuition and books only, and will be paid directly to the academic institution by the AWS Foundation.
