The academic achievement required to gain scholarship consideration is to submit an essay with 600 or more words on the topic of “New or Future Industrial Automation Technology”. Awarded to a full-time undergraduate pursuing a minimum four-year degree in welding engineering at The Ohio State University. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average. Financial need is not required to qualify. Electrical engineering candidates will be considered if there are no qualified welding engineering candidates. The applicant must be a citizen of the United States. One award for $3,000 is available. The application deadline is February 15, for the following fall term. Funding is available June 1 - May 31.

he ASDSO Scholarship Program, established in 1992, awards annual undergraduate scholarships to U.S. citizens enrolled in accredited programs in engineering or related fields and planning careers related to the design, construction, or operation of dams. Scholarships have ranged from $5,000 to $10,000 in recent years. Successful recipients must be U.S. citizens and enrolled full-time at the senior level during the following year's academic term in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams. Minimum Criteria Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 for the first three years of college and be recommended by their academic advisor. Basis for Award The basis for selection will generally follow these guidelines: Academic Scholarship Financial Need Work Experience/Activities Essay Announcement of successful candidates will be made in July of each year.
