Here are some of the Aviation scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Lawrence Ginocchio Aviation Scholarship

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and the family and friends of Lawrence Ginocchio annually award $5,000 to each of five students who are officially enrolled at NBAA/University Aviation Association (UAA)-member institutions.The Lawrence Ginocchio Aviation Scholarship was created in 2001 by NBAA and the family and friends of the late Lawrence Ginocchio to honor his outstanding personal contribution to the business aviation community. Named for a remarkable man whose strength of character inspired a high standard of caring in the aviation community, this scholarship recognizes those individuals who have demonstrated honesty, integrity and selflessness in their dealings with others. These individuals should possess a passion for aviation, as Larry Ginocchio did, and have utilized their interest or involvement in business aviation to enhance the lives of others.Awards will be made to U.S. citizens without regard to sex, race, religion or national origin. Scholarships will be awarded in the fall and checks will be made payable to the school. Scholarship recipients must use the funds by December 31 or risk forfeit of the award.Students must be undergraduate sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. A completed and signed application form must be accompanied by an essay, official transcript, resume and two letters of recommendation. UAA Janice K. Barden Aviation Scholarship

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) annually awards $1,000 to each of five undergraduates studying aviation-related curricula at NBAA and University Aviation Association (UAA) member institutions.This scholarship is named for Janice Barden, who has been active in the aviation community for decades and has served as chair of the NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention Local Committee more than any other person in NBAA history.Awards will be made to U.S. citizens without regard to sex, race, religion or national origin. Scholarships will be awarded by spring and checks will be made payable to the school. Scholarship recipients must use the funds by December 31 or risk forfeit of the award.A completed application package, which includes application form, one essay, one transcript, one resume and one letter of recommendation, must be received by NBAA no later than November 1 to be considered for the scholarship. Donald A. Baldwin Sr. Business Aviation Management Scholarship

The family of the late Donald A. Baldwin Sr., in coordination with the NBAA Corporate Aviation Management Committee, established the Donald A. Baldwin Sr. Business Aviation Management Scholarship in 2007 to benefit individuals seeking to become NBAA Certified Aviation Managers (CAMs). The scholarship promotes professional development in business aviation by providing financial support for qualified CAM Exam candidates.Baldwin, an accomplished general aviation pilot and beloved father, was a member of NBAA’s Board of Directors from 1968 to 1971. He was recognized for his contributions to business aviation with the NBAA John P. "Jack" Doswell Award in 1992 and the Flight Safety Foundation Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award in 1991.Funds for this scholarship will cover the cost of the CAM application, CAM Study Guide and CAM Exam registration fee. Funds also will be provided for recipients to attend the NBAA Leadership Conference. Recipients are responsible for other costs associated with the scholarship, such as travel and lodging expenses. NBAA scholarship applicants are limited to receiving one award per person, per year.Applicants must be eligible to take the CAM Exam within two years of the date of the scholarship award. They also must meet the minimum qualifications to take the CAM Exam by submitting a completed CAM application to NBAA.

ExxonMobil Aviation and the Avitats International Operators Scholarship

The NBAA International Operators Committee and ExxonMobil Aviation and the Avitats are dedicated to promoting education and training as a means for individuals to increase the safety and professionalism of their positions. To further this objective, NBAA offers the International Operators Scholarship in conjunction with sponsor ExxonMobil Aviation and the Avitats to benefit business aviation professionals engaged in international operations.This scholarship will be awarded at the NBAA Annual International Operators Conference and will be redeemable under the conditions established by NBAA and ExxonMobil Aviation and the Avitats.Scholarship recipients must complete all professional/educational training by or risk forfeit of the award. Funds awarded through this program will be paid directly to the educational institution of the recipient’s choice.A completed application package, which includes application form, one essay and at least one letter of recommendation, must be received by NBAA no later than January 29 to be considered for the scholarship. Flight Attendants/Flight Technicians Scholarship

The NBAA Flight Attendants Committee is dedicated to promoting education and training as a means for business aviation flight attendants and flight technicians to enhance their professional careers.Sponsors will make scholarship awards available to recipients selected by the NBAA Flight Attendants Committee. For a full list of awards, refer to the scholarship application.The deadline for application submissions is March 31. Award recipients will be notified by e-mail or phone by May 31 and the awards will be given by June 30. Flight Attendants/Flight Technicians Scholarship awards will be redeemable under the conditions established by NBAA and its sponsors, and applicants are limited to receiving one award per person every other year; i.e., recipients of the 2009 scholarship are not eligible to apply in 2010, but they will be eligible to apply again in 2011. Recipients must complete all training by July 31 or risk forfeit of the award. Recipients also are responsible for costs associated with the scholarship, such as travel and lodging expenses, unless otherwise noted.A completed and signed application form must be accompanied by an essay, resume and two letters of recommendation. NAAA/BASF Agricultural Aviation Scholarship Takes Flight

The goal of the Agricultural Aviation Scholarship is to strengthen the aerial application industry by helping NAAA Operators bring new pilots into the profession. Each applicant must be sponsored by an NAAA Operator, and scholarship recipients must use the proceeds for flight training or agricultural coursework at a university, college, community college or other institution of higher learning. The Agricultural Aviation Scholarship is funded by an educational grant provided by BASF and administered by NAAA. Former NAAA President Doug Chanay announced at the 2009 Convention that NAAA and BASF had agreed to establish a scholarship that would help bring new pilots into the profession by helping to fund their training. The general parameters were known at the time—scholarship recipients had to be sponsored by an NAAA Operator and use the proceeds for flight training or agricultural coursework—but NAAA’s Membership Committee still needed to determine the exact criteria and develop the official application. After a great deal of discussion, the committee came up with two parts to the application, one for the candidate applying for the scholarship proceeds and another for the NAAA Operator/Sponsor to complete. Every applicant will be required to submit: • A letter of recommendation from the NAAA Operator sponsoring the applicant. • An essay of 250 words or less written by the applicant explaining why he or she is deserving of an NAAA/BASF Agricultural Aviation Scholarship. • A one-page résumé or list of activities detailing all agricultural and aviation experiences, education and training.

NATA Business Scholarship

NATA is dedicated to promoting safety, professionalism, education and training as a means for individuals to advance their careers. The annual NATA Business Scholarship Award in the amount of $2,500 is to be used for continuing education for employees of NATA member companies. All applicable studies should be directly related to furthering the skills applicable to working at an FBO, charter company maintenance facility or flight school.Applicable training includes any aviation maintenance program under the aegis of Part 147 or 65; any pilot certificate or rating under Part 61 or 141; and any aviation-related two-year, four-year or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university. In addition, the NATA Strategic Management for Aviation Service Firms, held yearly at the Transportation Center/Northwestern University, qualifies for applicable training.EligibilityApplicants must: * Be 18 years of age or older. * Be nominated and endorsed by a representative of a Regular or Associate Member Company of the NATA. Possess a Student Pilot certificate (or higher), with a third-class medical certificate, if applying for pilot certificates or ratings. * Demonstrate a commitment to general aviation.DeadlineScholarship applications are due to the NATF on or before the last Friday in December each year.

Pioneers of Flight Scholarship Program

NATF – the research and educational arm of the National Air Transportation Association – established the Pioneers of Flight Scholarship Program in 1989 to offer financial assistance and encouragement to young people in the pursuit of academic excellence. By making scholarship grants available, NATF's ultimate goal is to foster and promote careers in the general aviation industry.The program is administered by the University Aviation Association (UAA), a professional organization representing all non-technical levels in collegiate aviation education. UAA will screen all scholarship applications, make the initial selections and provide a list of candidates to NATF without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability or national origin.The Pioneers of Flight Scholarship Program is monitored by NATF, who will make the final selection from the list of semifinalists provided by UAA. The scholarship awards will be announced each year during NATA's annual spring convention.EligibilityApplicants to the Pioneers of Flight Scholarship Program shall: * Be college students in their sophomore or junior year at the time of application who are pursuing full-time study at an accredited four-year college or university. * Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in general aviation.AwardsPioneers of Flight scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 for one year of full-time study. Two awards will be granted each year. Awards are given for undergraduate study only. Scholarship recipients may be offered internship opportunities.ApplicationInterested students must complete the application and submit it along with a complete transcript of grades, a letter of recommendation, an essay on general aviation and a paper indicating career goals in general aviation postmarked no later than the last Friday in December.Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, it is important to answer all questions as completely as possible.

National Aviation Explorer Scholarships

National Aviation Exploring Committee awards General Aviation scholarships to recognize excellence among Aviation Explorers studying the technologies and the skills needed in the field of aviation. The sponsors that provide the scholarships are committed to aviation’s future leadership. Applicant’s description of their personal record should show that they can successfully complete the aviation career educational activity for which they are requesting the scholarship. Also their personal record should show their involvement in life skills, citizenship, leadership, and character education experiences that add to the quality of life. Deadlines: Aviation Explorer applications are due in the local council office for approval by March 31st of each year. Council approved aviation Explorer applications are due in the National LFL Office by May 1st of each year. Scholarships will be awarded each year by July 1st Qualifications 1. Currently registered and active in an aviation Explorer post 2. Parent or guardian approval if under 18 years of age 3. Three letters of recommendation (i.e. aviation post Advisor, aviation professional, teacher, employer, community leader, etc.) 4. 500 word educational plan showing how you are going to finance your goal for a career in aviation. Degree Leading to an Aviation Profession (Scholarship value $10,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer accepted or attending an accredited college or university in pursuit of a degree leading to an aviation profession. Provide a copy of your high school or college transcript. Avionics (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer high school seniors or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics repair program. Pilot (Pilot Certificate) (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer pursuing their recreational or private pilot certificate (any type aircraft) and are not restricted to those pursuing a career in aviation. Flight training must be completed within one year. Candidates are judged on the strength of their essay stating their plan for a career in aviation, evidence of satisfactory initial flight training, and performance history in education and/or work, volunteerism, financial need. Maintenance (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer high school seniors or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an aircraft repair program. Management (Scholarship value $3,000) Awarded to an Aviation Explorer student in an aviation management program (to include design, engineering, airport management, etc.) at an accredited college or university.

Mick Schier Memorial Scholarship

Established by family and friends of Mick Schier who loved flying and who shared his love with others.Eligibility: To offset tuition costs of anyone in the area attending anaccredited flight school. Applicants must have completed ground school.Application: Contact the Marshfield Area Community Foundation for application information.Deadline: Open-ended.

Women Soar Scholarship for Innovation

Dr. Lori M. Fussell and Jerry Fussell are offering a $1,000 scholarship for the selected candidate’s pursuit of a college degree with the goal of empowering women to help solve the technology problems of the future through access to education in the sciences, engineering or aviation. The funds may only be used for academic pursuit and will be awarded directly to the candidate’s school of choice to support tuition expenses or other costs of attendance. The formal scholarship award will be made as part of the Women Soar award ceremony.Selection criteria: Applicant must be a high school junior or senior at the time of the award. Applicants will submit a fact-based technical paper of at least 1,500 words on the subject of the environmental impact of aviation, summarizing the current issue and impact and discuss potential technological solutions to reduce the impact on the environment. (60% of evaluation). Applicants will also provide a brief synopsis of their current accomplishments at the high school level, including GPA for two years, major focus of studies and description of extra-curricular activities. (20% of evaluation). Applicants will also provide a written description of their plans for the future, highlighting colleges of interest, professional aspirations following graduation, and their specific focus and passion for becoming one of society’s innovators. J. Andrew Garratt Memorial Scholarship

Provides $500 (or more) to support young women’s attendance at an EAA Air Academy session or supports participation in other EAA education offerings. Provided by two-time "Earthrounder" CarolAnn Garratt in tribute to her brother, Andy. Special considerations: Females preferred; superior academic achievement is emphasized with at least a 3.0 GPA required for high school courses.
